this is such a load of crap, i am CONSTANTLY seeing the concept of patriarchy being explained again and again, but people just ignore it and say WOW WHITE MALE CONSPIRACY!

another thing is, alot of you guys take the tumblr shit waaaaay too seriously. almost all of it is either humour, satire or hyperbole. its a way of drawing attention to social privilege, it's to make you think 'here is what people who are not as privileged as me have to deal with' sure, it seems offensive and you feel like you've been targeted, and yeah yes it's offensive but oh well, but yeah it's not you being targeted, stop taking it so seriously
i don't even get the tumblr crap. my only exposure to tumblr is in the form of a blog my sister makes to detail her life in japan.
Nope. You break that "wiring" by convincing people that your beliefs are somehow better than what they had previously. Note: not "right". Better, for actual reasons. Better for them, for their family, for something they care about.
And being obnoxious about your beliefs doesn't help, obviously. "I have this new idea, here, I'll rub it all over your face, do you agree with it? If you don't, you're a faggot" doesn't work, it never did. Unless you're someone of considerable autority in the first place, but that's diffirent story.
no movement has ever gained momentum or made a difference through passively trying to convince people their beliefs are better. i'm fairly sure people in the 60s found the civil rights movement incredibly obnoxious, i'm sure people found the suffrage movement obnoxious, people find gay pride parades obnoxious. passivity benefits only the status quo

Okay I read this entire thread and i am completely confused on what going on in this thread.
most people don't say it. however, it is said and it's generally said because a seemingly outrageous claim is preferable to having your totally reasonable analysis completely ignored. the former at least starts an argument and might get issues into the public discourse or w/e.
"all blacks are criminals"
"woah guys what I meant to say was that many african americans are driven toward lives of crime and violence by abject poverty and peer pressure, and that their culture unfortunately allows for these things to happen and they are all criminals because they aren't doing anything to change the negative aspects of said culture"
by making easily misinterpreted sweeping statements and then waiting to explain what you mean later, you are only going to create inflammatory responses that give people an unrealistic idea of what feminism is. instead of listening to you at all, they'll just bolster themselves up and say "WOW LOOK ALL FEMINISM IS SEXISTISM!" and then you have no progress whatsoever. a discussion turns into a dick-waving mud-flinging contest - less so here, but prominently in some other places.
i'm a feminist, too, but i don't go out of my way to provoke people and then gauge my social-progress-o-meter by how many angry responses i get.
everyone suffers under patriarchal social constructs. have men received as much shit as women have? of course not. but ignoring men's problems is just as much discrimination as contributing to women's problems. the situation is complex and based on a variety of social and cultural factors.

actually racists and nationalists DO say this all the time to say that exact same thing. and it's effective. that's why we got antifa sorta people who try and make sure that most of the exposure people get to neo-nazism and nationalism are in the context of fighting with antifas.

A lot of the humour/satire/hyperbole is making fun of the people on tumblr who unironically are social justice warriors that make everything social justice related look bad.

So, your only exposure was through a third party and you know all this as fact? What?
