• Game Informer: Miyamoto on Pikmin, Wii U, New IPs, and 3D Marios

I enjoyed 3d land a lot more than galaxy 2, i don't know why. Maybe galaxy 2 was just too long a game. By the final level i was getting quite bored of it all. And 3D World just looks like a more interesting, varied 3d land with 4 player local co op. I'm excited
-lods of text- And I think that's sort of the strength they have against Sony. Is there really a need for multiple first person shooter franchises? Why not just have on centralized one? They also have multiple platformer series as well, but I can't really say anything about those. I've never played those games specifically. But then they've got two beat em up type games (GoW and Heavenly Sword) and now there's two Driving simulators and two different cinematic third person shooters?? What is the point?? They both fulfill the same thing and while the Last of Us and Uncharted have different plotlines, it seems very...pointless, since the games play super similarly anyway. Does Nintendo need new IP? It's debatable. Do they have to make a new IP for the sake of having new IP? No. And it's pointless to do so since the people who want new IP won't buy the games in the first place.
You had me until this last paragraph, Heavenly Sword is a one off game done by a third party that happened to be exclusive to the PS3 and to say that Uncharted and The Last of Us play "super" similarly is to show that you haven't really played either. It would feel really odd to think that The Last of Us with all its somber introspective stillness is in the same universe as the bombastic, exaggerated world of Nathan Drake. That's why they need to be separate IPs, they're completely different games.

I should probably just remove that last part since I was just being an idiot.
I want a completely new 3D open-world Mario game. Not Mario Galaxy, not Mario Sunshine. I want something like Mario 64 again. Hell, a full rework of Mario 64 with today's engine and graphics would suffice.

Also I would buy a remake of it on the Wii U at full retail if they gave me the option.
3D Land did honestly feel like a mesh of all of the Mario games. It was nice.
After playing the Galaxy games, everything since has been nothing but disappointment for me. The 2d games should ditch that bland artstyle and banal music, and make a game with even better exploration than Super Mario World, and not just some half-assed exploration that does nothing but remind you of better games like in NSBU.
I want a completely new 3D open-world Mario game. Not Mario Galaxy, not Mario Sunshine. I want something like Mario 64 again. Hell, a full rework of Mario 64 with today's engine and graphics would suffice.
I still say the reason they haven't done this is because the worlds can be a little too big when it comes to open world platformers...I say this I've sort of been thinking about BK: Nuts and Bolts (even though the game isnt a platformer) lately and how many people have pointed out that certain worlds are huge, but empty, so the inclusion of vehicles makes sense only because walking around these big worlds with nothing to do in them can get pretty boring or just straight up confusing if you don't know where you're going. Then you have to consider the Zelda games and certain other Open World games where you're going to use some kind of transport to travel in these big worlds. In Mario, you don't have these things and implementing Yoshi to do these things is a little bit harder than you'd think it would be. My memory is fuzzy when it comes to Sunshine so the only thing I can remember is that he would spit juice and eat fruit. Mario Galaxy's implementation made more sense because you could freely choose what you wanted Yoshi to eat without interrupting platforming. But without the pointer control he's mostly useless unless you want to travel. But then he would trivialize platforming obstacles with his flutter jump. (Ironic considering the fact that Mario games are easier now, but I don't think they want these games to be TOO easy.) So I think they're making the right choice of not necessarily going open world platforming with Mario, if only because they don't want these worlds to be too big or too empty. They'd essentially have to design the game around all of these mechanics and it's probably more trouble than it's worth, especially since 64 was mostly an experiment. They were trying 3D platforming for the first time and so they didn't really have a clear idea of where to go and what to do so they sort of added in all of these things for the hell of it. 64 and Sunshine are good at where they are if only because the technology then wasn't necessarily capable of doing the worlds we're used to now. The worlds are just at the right size they should be at. Nothing more, nothing less. And I think this is why you've seen Galaxy and 3D Land take a more streamlined approach to the way they handle 3D Platforming because it eliminates the "wandering around" (most people call this exploring) aspect that plagued some early 3D Platforming games. It was either something you loved or something you hated. And they didn't really kill the exploring aspect either...In Galaxy there were certain stars you could only get after doing certain things and that's if you actually looked out for them. Then Mario 3D Land would reward you for collecting the Star Coins by letting you unlock more levels the more Star Coins you had. But then again, Miyamoto hasn't really done a Mario game since Mario 64. He's just been overseeing development of games nowadays. Not really playing a major role other than maybe giving a few pointers to the people actually developing the games to get them on the right track.
I honestly don't want another Galaxy game.
OK lets give Waluigi his own game then!
OK lets give Waluigi his own game then!
Walugi's main attack is that he doesn't have any attack because everyone else just leaves when he shows up.
OK lets give Waluigi his own game then!
This needs to happen.
From what I've played it feels like a filler game. It's not bad. I actually really liked it, but it isn't the kind of 3D Mario game I would have expected Nintendo put on the Wii U first. They could have done something better, but I'll gladly purchase and play the crap out of 3D World. I enjoyed 3D Land and I know I'll enjoy 3D World.
I remind you 3D Land original levels felt like filler for the most part. I'm almost 100% positive that there's going to be another set of worlds and that's fine by me.
This needs to happen.
Wario Bros.: Cheat to win!
Also Waluigi is unthought out garbage and I kinda hate the meme surrounding him. He's literally a afterthought and he IS the definition of filler. Automerge will never work for me will it
The DS version had some new content.
yes it did, and it was awesome
Also Waluigi is unthought out garbage and I kinda hate the meme surrounding him. He's literally a afterthought and he IS the definition of filler.
I have actually thought about what they could do with him in a game. It's pretty hard to give him an ability, really. Mario's the balanced out character. Luigi is Floatier (and slightly faster.) Wario is the slowest (a trait he shares with Peach) and Waluigi...? I suppose he could run the fastest and have higher jumps than luigi, but falls faster, but then he's just Toad who jumps higher.
Make him a bendy character.
I could very well see a Wario & Waluigi game where you either switch between the two of them to access different platforming playstyles (one being the brute we know from Wario Land, Waluigi being a lot more strange and floaty), or just a Wario & Waluigi game like the Mario & Luigi series. I don't think it'd be too out of place for Wario to pick Waluigi up and use him as a makeshift hammer like Crash and Cortex from Twinsanity. The most unlikely thing we'll ever see is a game where Wario Bros are playable as well as the Mario Bros. Wario alone is so vastly different in style that the levels would need to be designed around 2 vastly different approaches to problems.
