The so-called strongest power in the world everyone
Americans, get your politicians to grow up.
Haha, quite the ruse they pulled. Well played.
God fucking dammit. They are not supposed to be there to basically play "Not it" with laws.
Silly democrats, who gave you your testicles?
Zing!
It was their plan to show that the republicans are wasting their time trying to seem more conservative instead of actually doing their job

So it's ok to behave childishly as long as you are proving a point? I find this stupid.
True, but the same argument goes for the wealthy and taxes. We can't keep affording to give them huge tax breaks. I personally feel as if it'd be much better if we increased taxes on the rich and kept entitlement programs. That way, the rich don't get away with paying little amounts out of their fortunes, and the people that actually need help don't get shafted.
Or a flat or fair tax...

the only thing fair about the fair tax is that it makes you fairly fucked

what don't you get about a flat tax not working because lower income families can't handle it?
Corporations are considered 'citizens'.
Why can't they pay their taxes?
This type of "put blame on the other party" bullshit is retarded. To get somewhere, you actually have to cooperate. Republicans may not be helping but the Dems certainly aren't either.
They tried, it didn't work.

Fuck da fourteenth amendment
In general, democrats are usually the ones who have to cooperate and end up compromising, so I think it's fair to blame the republicans more.
I don't believe compromising can be considered an action taken by one group. I think it most instances, both parties take extreme views and expect to meet somewhere in the middle. They actually wouldn't support their recommendation, but they know that when a compromise is inevitable that you need to move the middle point. Then the group can say they try hard to support the party's values.

do we really need to go over why a flat tax is a fucking terrible idea.

curse those extreme left-wing views like health care for everyone and minority rights!
basically what I was saying is things like the right tearing up the health care bill and forcing the democrats down seems to rarely happen to the republicans.
what don't you get about a flat tax not working because lower income families can't handle it?
Why don't you get they'd pay less? Everybody puts in a universal percentage of their income.
do we really need to go over why a flat tax is a fucking terrible idea.
Let's do a quick overview for the sake of clarity:
Tax rate of 10%.
Income: $10,000. After tax: $9,000
I: $100,000. After tax: $90,000
I: $1,000,000. After tax: $900,000
Affects poor much more than it does the rich.
Why don't you get they'd pay less? Everybody puts in a universal percentage of their income.
See above ^
e: With a flat tax, for poor people a tax might be the difference between making rent, for rich it might be the difference between a mercedes or a maserati
Why don't you get they'd pay less? Everybody puts in a universal percentage of their income.
do you not understand that poor people have less expendable income and that ability to pay is the most logical determining factor when setting up tax brackets

So then why not a fair tax? Make things like food stamps non-taxable.
So then why not a fair tax? Make things like food stamps non-taxable.
Idk enough about fair tax to make any argument, i'm just pointing out why a flat tax is an awful idea.
We should set the tax rate for the rich to 0%, so they can trickle on us or something.
I understand that a flat tax seems like a simple solution at face value. Everyone is equal so everyone pays the same percentage of their income.
But everyone is not equal. As has been said, if you make a million dollars a year, you are going to have an insane amount of expendable income. Whereas if you make 20 grand a year, you are not going to have anywhere NEAR the amount of disposable income that the million dollar income family has. The loss of 1,000 dollars could mean the difference between health care for part of the year. Or gas to get to work. The loss of 100k for the million dollar family means comparatively very little.
is he squeezing his testicles?

It's like a VAT, it's a percentage of money spent purchasing goods or services. High rate sales tax, and does away with income tax entirely.

how much vat do you wanna charge exactly?
if you get rid of income tax then you can't possibly sustain the budget which means that fair tax is actually code-word for "fuck your social programs".

Dude, do some research before panning it.
It's like a 30% sales tax that replaces income tax. The more you buy, the more you pay.

i went to a fair tax rally once
one of the speakers said, "the rich keep on doing what they're doing to get richer, and the poor keep on doing what they're doing to get poorer"
so yeah basically class warfare
