Could be possibly be a cultural thing, in England everyone seems to prefer the older GTA titles.
I think everyone here has some nostalgia goggles on about San Andreas. It really wasn't that "wacky" or great. Sure, if you put on cheats to get a jetpack and unlimited ammo, then it was pretty "wacky" , but just the setting and story-line itself wasn't that great.
this x100
You have to admit, IV was incredibly cartoony compared to the previous games. But I liked that, it gave the characters more... well, character. Ballad of Gay Tony was my favorite of them all. I can only currently imagine what they have in store for GTA V.
More cartoony? The older GTAs were far more cartoony than IV, IV wasn't cartoony at all.
I've been playing San Andreas constantly since it was released on PC. I did the single player a bunch of times, and played multiplayer like a religion. I know all the streets and location names by heart. I would LOVE to see San Andreas with a better engine.
Hmm, maybe cartoony wasn't the right word.
Can't wait to see an updated euphoria engine in all its drunken glory!
I see the V and think money (obviously). Could it be based on a RL city with a mint (Philidelphia)? Or it could be Las Vegas (part of San Andreas)? We should know when the trailer hits, but needless to say Im excited and at the same time scared for my wallet.
I see the V and I think of Vinewood, so this game surely takes place in Los Santos. Which will be fucking awesome, I can't wait for the trailer.
Actually, I want to be the one to call Phili now. LET IT BE KNOWN.
Hmm, maybe cartoony wasn't the right word.
Characters were more animated, maybe? They had more personality, rather than "Follow dat train CJ." Anyways, Let's stop talking about the location and focus on the MAIN CHARACTER. It's gotta be a hispanic dude this time around, and I don't mean Ballad-of-Gay-Tony-Hispanic, I mean straight up mexican.
My favorite is GTA IV easily, and I hope GTA V takes a serious and realistic approach too.
i have a feeling its gonna be in Washington DC
Hopefully the PC version isn't some shoddy unoptimised console port.
Games today are already limited by the capabilities of consoles. Until the next generation consoles are rolled out we will see no innovation what-so-ever.
....Actually, what if the main character is a woman?
all my money all my fucking money gtaiv was fucking amazing, all they need to do is have more opportunity for messing around, the core mechanics are fucking great
I would love a GTA V being based on London, but I doubt it.
I'd love to see what the Daily Mail would make of it.
If it's San Andreas I hope there'll be a reference to CJ somewhere, that would be awesome.
The V reminds me of money. Casino... Las Vegas?
I sure as hell hope the plot is thicker than "get moni casionoe drugz shoot ppl i owe moni to b4 they shoot me" etc.
I see the V and I think of Vinewood
Read this http://grandtheftautofive.com/2010/07/26/gta-v-set-in-hollywood-vinewood/
Games today are already limited by the capabilities of consoles.
If it's San Andreas I hope there'll be a reference to CJ somewhere, that would be awesome.
I hope not. CJ was such a terrible character that I'd rather not be reminded of him in any way.
I hope not. CJ was such a terrible character that I'd rather not be reminded of him in any way.
I find the only good thing about SA was the freedom, But the story line was horrible and so was the music, Rockstar should be ashamed and go back to Vice city in the 80's
I think that the character is pretty dependent on the location. Like if it's DC you might be some sort of street rat that does dirty work for politicians and activists and stuff, or maybe even a business looking type, similar to TBoGT. San Andreas would go back to the gang setting, and you would be somebody from the original San Andreas, etc
Looks like the font on the five is similar to the font on banknotes. Here's hoping it's Las Venturas.
I'm as giddy as a schoolgirl!!
I hated CJ, I just couldn't understand his or his homies' motivations, and that made the first few hours of SA really annoying to me. The missions themselves though trod the line admirably between crazy and realistic, all they needed were mid-mission checkpoints. OK, here's what GTAV should be like: The characters and general atmosphere of Vice City, with the missions of San Andreas and the technology and attention to detail of GTAIV.
lets hope they don't pull a RDR on us.
Also they should really do the port in house this time around in order to give them more of a chance of getting it right and not fucking it up like they did with the optimisation for GTAIV. And they should really find a way to get out of that old GTA cliche of there being hours of shitty tutorial missions.
You can now hunt bears in the wilderness! By running over them with your truck!
San Andreas did have a lot of fun aspects in it, in particular, I found the schools and other side missions fun. Like the stuff you got for buying the Airfield, and the car showroom, import/export cars, stuff like that. It all added to the longevity of the game and added a lot of variation, it wasn't really done before in a game of this type but it was good fun and I'd like to see it again.
