lets hope they don't pull a RDR on us.
They won't, there's far too many potential sales. IV sold like hot cakes on PC despite the immense system requirements and it coming out months after consoles. RDR was a sequel to a game that didn't even come out on PC anyway. They just need to get the optimisation down, IV had great post-release support and a great UI/controls but it was still a mess.
and they really need to stop using GFWL

Vice City is the worst GTA
No guys, obviously Episodes from LC are the worst because they're nothing like GTA 1 and we all know the sequels are never better than the first one.
/sarcasm
Some of the stories says that it placed to the Hollywood nowadays.
One thing no ones pointed out... What if it took place in Carcer City? It's been mentioned a few times in a radio and the like, and was the setting to Manhunt (which is part of the GTA universe). Not saying theres anything pointing towards that, I just think that would be cool. Maybe they could just do a new manhunt, although member of the dev team said they were ASHAMED of how fucked that game was, and had nightmares for a long time after development.
I love how the people over analyzing think money, mint, Washington DC.
Am I the only one that though V for Vice City?

Carcer is a complete shit hole I don't see the point in going there. Also why were they ashamed? It wasn't perfect but it was pretty damn good.
The worst GTA has to be vice city stories

i don't really care about the setting I just want a sniper that shoots blood fountains into people again.
why no GTA in london tho i mean we had getaway but that sucked they could make fun of london and the riots and things have danny dyer do a voice have vinnie jones in their too shit would be cash.
are you retarded?
Besides. Danny Dyer done the voice of Kent Paul in both GTA VC and SA
I loved the original era, the 3D era and GTA IV took everything to another level of awesome, so I am expecting this to be even more amazing.

I think he meant ashamed of how messed up the game was.

Not of the game itself or of the game play, but (i'm particularly referencing manhunt 2) they said it affected them mentally just from how disturbing part of the game were. Especially when working with that sort of thing as your day to day job, I could see why. Manhunt 2 is by far Rockstar's darkest game, at times that game is fucking twisted.
inb4 console exclusive
By the way, is anyone looking for or even found some possible acronyms related to GTA V (for example, the FIVE)?
So far we know that very possible setting is San Andreas.
Also for some reason people keep saying Philadelphia, well directly from the GTA wiki: "Carcer City is an industrial city based upon Philadelphia"
[editline]25th October 2011[/editline]
also, this may just come from living in the midwest, but so far all the GTA games are costal, gta 3/4 were based on new york, Vice city is Miami, San Andreas was L.A.; I could see GTA having fun in a midwestern city like chicago or Carcer would go along those lines.
I'm really hoping for Vice City. Great music and neon lights, and it would keep with the continuity if they're really going to remake renderware era locations . SA is okay too I guess, as long as there's no "gangsta" bullshit involved in the story.
Actually, just make it SA set in the 80s, best of both worlds I guess.

If there are any UK characters in gta5, i want one of them to be voiced by jason statham.
Total bad ass.
I have a feeling it'll be based in the Washington DC area. III dealt with the mob in LC; VC dealt with cartels and drugs in Florida; SA dealt with street gangs; IV was more of the street dirty work in LC; and V will most likely deal with Political Corruption and stuff like that. Essentially it completes the pyramid of crime levels in America.
At least I think it has potential for a rich story with good missions.

Like people have said, GTA is basically a parody of American culture. Parodying america in London would be awkward. I suppose it could be about an american criminal who goes to london and is lost in a different world, that could be awesome.
I hope that GTA V will have more interesting missions what you can finish in different ways. Like the mission in GTA IV where you had to climb up on a roof and snipe some guy while he is watching TV. You could call him and when he goes to pick up the phone you shoot him, shoot the tv so the guy will walk up to the tv and wonder what the hell happened to it etc etc.

I know about the gta universe, in fact i was one of those people that said exactly what you said, a few pages back.
I'm talking about characters. You know, like how there were Jamaicans in gta4? well, british in gta5.
