That's Holland for ya.
Some random guy just shot tons of random people and you think a putting in a helicopter is overreacting?
Killing yourself without taking many people with you went way to mainstream I guess.
Why is there a picture of a completely different place in the OP?
mm like 40km away from me this is insane, I hope it was no immigrant or else politicians and citizens will debate on how bad immigrants are once again
shootouts like these would be more common if guns were legal in the netherlands. so no thanks.
Hilarious.
My eyes :suicide: For any people that say more guns provokes more violence: Lower murder rates in foreign countries prove that gun control works. False. This is one of the favorite arguments of gun control proponents, and yet the facts show that there is simply no correlation between gun control laws and murder or suicide rates across a wide spectrum of nations and cultures. In Israel and Switzerland, for example, a license to possess guns is available on demand to every law-abiding adult, and guns are easily obtainable in both nations. Both countries also allow widespread carrying of concealed firearms, and yet, admits Dr. Arthur Kellerman, one of the foremost medical advocates of gun control, Switzerland and Israel "have rates of homicide that are low despite rates of home firearm ownership that are at least as high as those in the United States." A comparison of crime rates within Europe reveals no correlation between access to guns and crime. After the 1997 shooting of 16 kids in Dunblane, England, the United Kingdom passed one of the strictest gun-control laws in the world, banning its citizens from owning almost all types of handguns. Britain seemed to get safer by the minute, as 162,000 newly-illegal firearms were forked over to British officials by law-abiding citizens. But this didn't decrease the amount of gun-related crime in the U.K. In fact, gun-related crime has nearly doubled in the U.K. since the ban was enacted.
[multiple citations needed]
Holy shit, a killing spree with automatic weapons? What's going on here? Little while ago we had an armed robbery with robbers using automatic weapons too.
Still...With this kind of thing becoming more common, how do you know you wont be in the next 6 people killed when you go shopping or go to school?
Oh I know, but one thing.. These kinds of things becoming more common? Ahem. Since when hasn't needless suffering been common? :colbert:
Holy shit, a killing spree with automatic weapons? What's going on here? Little while ago we had an armed robbery with robbers wearing automatic weapons too.
They were wearing weapons? I wish all my clothes were made out of weaponry.
Holy shit, a killing spree with automatic weapons? What's going on here? Little while ago we had an armed robbery with robbers using automatic weapons too.
Almost all things are rumors and little has been confirmed, they still haven't released his age for example.
When I die I will also like to be remembered as a worthless asshole.
Almost all things are rumors and little has been confirmed, they still haven't released his age for example.
Police did say it was an automatic weapon and witnesses say he was in his 20's wearing camo trousers.
First a man sets himself on fire and now this, it has been a rather bad week for my country.

I worked at that shopping centre! Also: Thats a picture of Amsterdam not Alphen aan de Rijn.
Gun control has pro's and cons, mostly lunatics and suicidal people who don't want to go alone do shit like this, even more when guns are allowed. On the other hand, less could be killed, or if the person has a really bad sense of what's going on or none or limited training, more.1 But i'm happy we got gun control here in holland, i've never seen a gun in my life (exept from games but those don't count), the closest thing of a gun i've heared is of a far friend who got arrested on a home invasion charge with involved a firearm.
I don't feel any urge to shoot somebody when I hold a gun, and quite frankly, it's fun to shoot targets and cans and things when used responsibly. Most gun owners are responsible people, who choose to enjoy something. Guns ownership and use is subjective, and appeals to some people and not others, but there's no reason to stop some people from enjoying it. I would imagine most of the people here get annoyed when some biased source says that video games cause X or Y, since I get annoyed in that case as well, but most video gamers are responsible people as well. I suppose one could correlate car companies to auto accidents, home builders to house fires, pharmacists to accidental overdoses, and Poison to shitty music but the true blame lies with the perpetrator themself. Most people who go and shoot at random are not responsible people. tl;dr quit blaming guns for everything bad.
Cars arrent specially designed to kill people and have other uses.
Guns have other uses than killing people. I don't shoot a person every time I pick up a gun, nor do I intend to.

Although i don't think you need the real deal if you're just shooting cans. Something less dangerous works just as well.
[multiple citations needed]
It's all been proven multiple times by many different people and I know that you've seen it. What exactly are you suggesting then? That higher gun control = less crime?
It's all been proven multiple times by many different people and I know that you've seen it. What exactly are you suggesting then? That higher gun control = less crime?
JDK is a proponent of privately owned firearms as am I. I still want to see citations.
Damn. That's pretty close to home. Condolences to the families. You'd have to wonder what motive this guy had to just mow down random people.
Guns are already banned in the netherlands .
Even airsoft is forbidden here :(
[multiple citations needed]
Come on JDK, do you really need a citation to prove that gun control isn't taking guns away from anyone already breaking the law?
Over reaction much?
There where 6 of them at a certain point, They also evacuated all Shopping mall's in the city and the houses around them. And there is still Police with Sub machine guns standing around the shopping mall. Where it happened. 7 Death's 15 wounded, is the result btw.
If it were an "automatic machine gun" I think there'd be more dead than just 6. He apparently was a member of a firing range and had 5 different weapon permits. This would mean he had 5 legally obtained weapons, which means that the caliber would go up to .50 and none of them could be fully automatic (sure semi-auto can be fired rapidly but it's not really useful). And considering he had the tools at home, would he really go through all kinds of works to find some shady person from the east to buy an automatic rifle?
Pretty sure they said something in the news about how the police found a note on his body/at his home how he had planted bombs in other shopping centres. They got defused though.
