Wow it's like you have a fundamental misunderstanding and ignorance of basic psychology
I think he was making a joke.
Except it's not a choice so your opinion is just factually incorrect Anyway, I really don't think that there should be any surgery or hormones administered until after puberty
They wouldn't do that. They administer hormone blockers. When puberty comes, they ether take them off and let the kid develop normally or start on with work. [editline]19th October 2013[/editline]
I think he was making a joke.
People have said that unironically for years here dude.
They wouldn't do that. They administer hormone blockers.
This is how i feel. The kids 8, when i was 8 i had no idea what i really wanted in life.
But you knew whether or not you felt like a girl or a guy.
This is how i feel. The kids 8, when i was 8 i had no idea what i really wanted in life.
But you probably knew that you were a dude

Don't a lot of trans people keep their dicks? That part confuses me.
Except it's not a choice so your opinion is just factually incorrect Anyway, I really don't think that there should be any surgery or hormones administered until after puberty
the only issue with this, and this goes doubly so for MtF's usually, going through that male puberty wrecks any chance you have of passing or incredibly diminishes it. Just makes life harder in general. Not to mention going through the wrong puberty has mentally devastating effects. Hormone Blockers until you know what you want really is the best idea.
Don't a lot of trans people keep their dicks? That part confuses me.
Bottom surgery is expensive and can have bad effects if bungled.
But you probably knew that you were a dude
Thats a good point honestly. I dont know, i think i just feel making a change this big at 8 is a really big choice. If she wants to live her life as a girl its her decision though
Don't a lot of trans people keep their dicks? That part confuses me.
Your genitals don't define your gender.
I spent most of my life in and out of SickKids. I'm sure it'll be a great place for transgender children, they do a really amazing job of making you feel comforted when you're young and stuck in the hospital, and a comforting place to transition is something that kids in this position really need. I never even knew they were opening up this wing though, I'll have to go take a look in a week or two and see where it is.
Bottom surgery is expensive and can have bad effects if bungled.
That'd just make me feel like a more dedicated transvestite, not a woman.
That'd just make me feel like a more dedicated transvestite, not a woman.
You ain't them.
Your genitals don't define your gender.
Well people go through hormone therapy and what not to appear more masculine/feminine, isn't that the same concept? Your genitals are part of your appearance.
That'd just make me feel like a more dedicated transvestite, not a woman.
Isn't a transvestite just someone who crossdresses.
Interesting video.. I think that people should wait until they're teens before making decisions like this.
Bottom surgery is expensive and can have bad effects if bungled.
I read that as "bundled"
Gender is unrelated to your sexual organs.
To use a computer metaphor: sex is hardware, gender is drivers.
Transgender clinic? As a clinic for transgender people only or a place to change your gender. If it's the former, what the fuck that's stupid as shit.
Interesting video.. I think that people should wait until they're teens before making decisions like this.
there's no decisions to make with your gender, only realization [editline]19th October[/editline] the only choice here is that you can either admit to your gender and be better for it or deny it and probably go mental, and i think you'll agree that that isn't much of a decision to make
there's no decisions to make with your gender, only realization
I agree with that but for clinical stuff.
I agree with that but for clinical stuff.
you need to be checked over a huge amount of times by qualified doctors to make sure that you actually have gender dysphoria, and even then i'm fairly certain the heavier alterations don't take place until you're much older. pretty much the only functional difference between this happening to an eight year old and this happening to a teen is that the problems are recognized and can be planned for earlier - the patient would still need the same treatment whether their situation was seen when they were eight or when they were twenty.
"Segregation based on social placement is good!" - Facepunch
What
To use a computer metaphor: sex is hardware, gender is drivers.
That's actually a pretty clever analogy. Although I'm sure if you installed ATI drivers on an Nvidia card it wouldn't work. :v:
Well people go through hormone therapy and what not to appear more masculine/feminine, isn't that the same concept? Your genitals are part of your appearance.
I don't go around parading my genitals as part of my wardrobe so they're barely "part of" my appearance. They're my sexual organs that i do sexual things with. They have nothing to do with gender.
Your genitals don't define your gender.
I thought the conflict between one's body not matching their gender is what the whole problem was.
I thought the conflict between one's body not matching their gender is what the whole problem was.
A lot of transpeople do keep their original sex organs. [editline]saldl[/editline] Well I dunno about a lot but some do.
