Are you suggesting evacuating 59% of the region. I don't understand.
It's not a forced evacuation. Those want to stay obviously could. With such a large Russian population at risk, did you really think Russia, who has a military base in the region, would do nothing to help them?

Why should they be evactuated of them have probably lived there their entire lives.
They should be able to stay there without fear of persecution. Considering the situation, the peace might not last long.
NATO would tell russia they have 5 days to fuck off or else they'd roll over russia's ass, then they would russia cannot counter the combined forces of GB,Germany, France, U.S., and the rest of NATO, plus it would bring economic ruin to russia, and putin's power depends on his rich benefactors being rich still something that would rapidly change if russia invaded ukraine since sanctions would happen overnight.
China would most likely back Russia up, so NATO block would be fucked no matter how you'll try to put it.
Is it rightful to invade a region if 50+% of the population agrees with it? Like a vote or something, a democratically elected invasion?
Gazprom have a massive pipeline hub in Ukraine that supplies natural gas to Europe, Russia making any hostile action would be like shooting yourself in the foot. Russia also has a naval base in Ukraine if i'm not mistaken, ships come and go all the time.

Ethnicity doesn't mean nationality. War would be silly.
China would most likely back Russia up, so NATO block would be fucked no matter how you'll try to put it.
Why would China even bother taking part in such a conflict? With whom do they have more trade anyway? Russia or Europe and the US?
Why would China even bother taking part in such a conflict? With whom do they have more trade anyway? Russia or Europe and the US?
China will side with Russia in an event it would be forced to choose sides, the two are very close allies. And no sanctions will be imposed upon Russia in case of an intervention in Ukraine because Russia is a major player in European politics and supplies most of its natural resources.

[editline]24th February 2014[/editline] gotta say one thing about obama, he's had more wars to deal with than any other president in modern history
nukes. also you're crazy.
nukes.
Why do people keep saying this. Nukes aren't going to happen in serious warfare. Someone has to go nuts for nukes to happen.

In modern times China and Russia have a plethora of new joint projects, economic agreements, various diplomatic alliances and a robust trading system. The two nations are extremely close in both the political spectrum and factually. Among many other organizations, this is the most well-known. Anyone who says otherwise is a delusional warmonger.
I'm completely failing to see why Russia would invade Ukraine, surely not because they want closer ties with the EU?
I'm completely failing to see why Russia would invade Ukraine, surely not because they want closer ties with the EU?
One of the Russian chaps said it was a mistake to split half Ukraine away from Russia in the first place. Ukraine also has loads of raw resources apparently.
Why do people keep saying this. Nukes aren't going to happen in serious warfare. Someone has to go nuts for nukes to happen.
which is pretty much what he suggested. any scenario that would involve nato as whole mobilizing against russia would definitely involve nukes. if russia were go to crimea, they would simply say they were invited due to "human rights issues/fear of violence against ethnic russians" or some other bullshit, it would likely reignite the cold war, but aside from that, nothing would happen, except maybe the partition of ukraine. also lol'd at him saying that NATO who ran out of bombs in days during libya will be able to do anything in short notice(without assistance from the US that is).
One of the Russian chaps said it was a mistake to split half Ukraine away from Russia in the first place. Ukraine also has loads of raw resources apparently.
Surely Ukraine can do whatever the fuck it wants though. There's no basis for an invasion other than "boohoo you left us now you're all going to die".
Surely Ukraine can do whatever the fuck it wants though. There's no basis for an invasion other than "boohoo you left us now you're all going to die".
Well looks as if russia is trying to grant citizenship to the people of crimea (rt if you want source) if that happens then russia could move in saying its defending its people. Again.
Russia won't invade, that would be really dumb of them.
http://news.yahoo.com/pro-russian-rally-crimea-decries-kiev-39-bandits-200048790.html Good thing you told me!
