Hopefully this fails hard. And as a result makes them stopping rushing out freakin' Assassin's Creed games. Mind you I still feel anything Ubisoft is vile and anything they make should not be played by anyone due to how they view PC players. But apparently people actually like Assassin's Creed and with this coming out so quickly its almost like when Activision was so confident in Guitar Hero that they were just cranking them out 3 a year.
i think you're overestimating Ubi's goal here - they're putting out a last-gen game because, even though so many people have the new current gen consoles, a vast majority still have ps3s and 360s, and they're also putting out a new game to start to learn and test the abilities of the new consoles. I wouldn't be surprised if next year they shifted to being exclusively next-gen
Assassin's Duty
I still want an AC game taking place in the Ancient Roman Empire.
I remember when the first Assassin's Creed came out and I bought it right off the shelf. But then came along the second, third, fourth and fifth installment... it really got boring after that.
Assassins Creed 2 as a miniature series was a good call, there was a lot of story to work with to flesh out Assassins Creed. But holy fuck by Brotherhood I was just hauling through the game as fast as I could because I'd gotten fed up of the whole "upgrade yo city boyeeee" mechanic. Revelations actually got put aside for a month or two because I just couldn't be fucked to finish it at one point.

Brotherhood is possibly my favourite due to the city upgrading. It felt like progress, I was slowly freeing the city and taking it back from Borgia influence. However in Revelations the city just felt cut and paste and I didn't really care about the villains.
Making a new one every year isn't the key to failure - it's making it boring, unfun and completely half-assed, something I believe the AC series manages to avoid (on the most part)

Replace "console" with "platform" and the point still stands.
