• U.S. cutting back on hot food for troops in Afghanistan

The thing is that it is only one hot meal that they will not be serving that is okay with me, now only make it one hot meal a day then there is a problem, however there are still better areas to cut spending though.
MREs are decent. If you get the egg omelette you might as well shoot yourself though...
Don't fucking remind me. I spent four years in that backwater shithole Afghanistan. The worst part of it was skipping breakfast because of that fucking omelette.
Seriously? That is really telling of the impact of quality of food.
All the other MREs are good, but that omelette was just awful. It wasn't even egg. Meatloaf was good, though. Chicken Fajita is the fucking bomb.
you make american soldiers seem like weaklings
Whoa, its almost as if they're humans like you and I!
MAYBE THEY SHOULD CUT BACK THE NUMBER OF TROOPS TO ZERO INSTEAD...
It's funny because in order to do that, this would happen anyway.
please don't tell me that there are people who can deal with a firefight but not with cold food
Yeah who cares if they get shot at or shelled, don't let them eat breakfast or hot food! You're an idiot.
The omlet isn't that bad. Put some of the verde sauce in and it tastes like something that you would eat in college.
I never went to college. I moved out of Scotland and joined the US Army when I was eighteen. Spent some months in California after my first tour. Did another 1 & 1/2 years in Afghanistan, then moved to Virginia. I will, however, be going to college next year to try and major in either history or English, then go into teaching.
Save even more money. Just feed them rice and top ramen. Also forget about all those school opportunities and benefits. Cut everything but the contractors and higher ups salaries.
please don't tell me that there are people who can deal with a firefight but not with cold food
I honestly don't even know where to start with you and your complete ignorance. US Soldiers, even the Infantry aren't billy-badasses that smoke cigars and lug around M249's on their shoulders and wear aviators all day. They're just men. Having a hot meal out on the other side of the world is probably the next best thing to an actual bed in Afghanistan.
please don't tell me that there are people who can deal with a firefight but not with cold food
Nigga, if I'm in a firefight for an hour+, I hope to come to the base for a warm meal and some sleep. Hell, feed me nothing but tacos, I'll get naked and fight off Al-Qaeda with a stick. [editline]24th June 2013[/editline] By myself.
Wouldn't it be cheaper for the military to provide the food itself rather than hiring contractors?

On the other hand you have over-expensive bullshit like tanks you send so much there aren't even enough men to operate them. Good job USA government
This isn't the right way to cut spending you assholes
"but muh tanks :(" Sometimes I wonder... Is life a cartoon or a sitcom? Because this looks like shit that only a stupid character from a cartoon would pull.
The MRE's we get today aren't bad at all (Unless you get beef stew, then sorry). They also can heat up the food with just a little bit of water hot enough to nearly burn you
