Most people don't understand how evolution works, or how insanely complex it is so they end up feeding off bad information and it creates a bad image for evolution.
The basics of it are not even really complicated it could really be explained in less then a paragraph, that about the same as a bible verse [editline]27th November 2010[/editline]
Must EVERYTHING become a religion thread?
all roads on facepunch leads to making fun of religion [editline]27th November 2010[/editline]
Wow. I go to see progress of evolution, and all I get is a teenage atheist circlejerk. Also, nice in quoting passages to try to? reaffirm your beliefs to everyone else, and claiming that everyone else's beliefs are wrong. How exactly are you any different than the religious fanatics you so dearly oppose?
cause one has science to back it up on, also you dont even have to be atheist to see how stupid not believing in evolution is [editline]27th November 2010[/editline]
Nobody likes evolution. It has too many holes
hey I like evolution and its holes are just gaps in a fossil record
hey I like evolution and its holes are just gaps in a fossil record
The hole I found has nothing to do with fossils.
The hole I found has nothing to do with fossils.
Like?
Evolution happens, but that doesn't mean it happened. I am a firm believer that it does happen, but there are better things to do than say? "You're a creationist? What do you say about the PEPPERED MOTH!?!"
/b/ loathes memegenerator too.
good, he can piss them off AND not be here anymore at the same time.
I love how every other post is about religion instead of the actual subject of the thread.
You people are THICK. Those are it's eggs, not fucking embryos. This thread makes me lose faith in humanity. [editline]28th November 2010[/editline] Since you're probably too thick to listen to human speech..
The lizard has attracted scientific attention due to its dual reproduction habits of producing young via eggs in coastal populations, or via live young in colder mountain regions.
In other words, this is the way it has been. It hasn't evolved. How thick can you get?
My biology professor is a religious person. She has a Ph.D in biology, and teaches things that many may think religious people would scoff at. You don't have to be an atheist to believe in evolution.
Though it's wider spread than just a single specimen, I still think it's stretching it too far.
You don't seem to understand how evolution works do you? A mutation occurs, if it's beneficial then it propagates through a species population, then it becomes the dominant trait and eventually becomes so concrete that a new species emerges. So no, this is not "stretching it too far" this falls directly in the parameters of evolution.
stop posting in this thread. I literally just posted proof that this is bullshit.
It hasn't evolved. How thick can you get?
well it had to evolve that way. Its interesting because its an unusual evolutionary path [editline]28th November 2010[/editline]
My biology professor is a religious person.
well it had to evolve that way. Its interesting because its an unusual evolutionary path
Well, I guess it's true when they say ignorance is bliss. If you want to blindly follow evolution, go right ahead, ignoring all the evidence that it's bullshit.
Well, I guess it's true when they say ignorance is bliss. If you want to blindly follow evolution, go right ahead, ignoring all the evidence that it's bullshit.
Either you are a troll and there is no need to talk to you or your really that thick and will just call everyone who thinks differently then you names so again there is no point talking to you. we have seen evolution happen so we know its real
Well, I guess it's true when they say ignorance is bliss. If you want to blindly follow evolution, go right ahead, ignoring all the evidence that it's bullshit.
Wait. Kindly provide unbiased evidence with multiple reputable sources that the theory of evolution is horse shit.
Wait. Kindly provide unbiased evidence with multiple reputable sources that the theory of evolution is horse shit.
Kindly provide unbiased evidence with multiple reputable sources that the theory of evolution is in any way shape or form credible.
Kindly provide unbiased evidence with multiple reputable sources that the theory of evolution is in any way shape or form credible.
If you had ever actually studied biology at university level you would see how it works and actually realise it's a damn near proven scientific fact, but give me 10 minutes and I'll rustle up as many scientific studies that lend credence to evolution.
just watch this
CarloysMonica and Ron L. Hubbard aren't biased lol herp derp

If you have an IQ above 50, which you don't, you could probably come up with a valid argument. [editline]28th November 2010[/editline] Notice how he edits his post instead of replying, because he's a moron.
No idea what 6th grade bio entails but if he actually had studied meiosis and mitosis he would have understood how the DNA replication isn't perfect in cells and how that leads to mistakes. More often than not these mistakes kill a creature, but some don't, some make little to no difference in the animal and some are beneficial. The beneficial mutations give the animal an advantage over it's peers and it survives, the longer it survives means it usually has more offspring and the mutation survives throughout generations and then becomes a standard part of the species genome. The mutation could be as simple as a slight tweak on muscle fibre types allowing the animal to sprint faster to evade predators or catch prey, to something as drastic as bats going from ground based mammals with poor eyesight to aerial mammals compensating for their eyesight with ultrasound and directional hearing. Believe what you want, frankly I couldn't care, just don't be an idiot and vehemently deny a theory that is just about 100% proven scientific fact.
Once again, you failed to provide any substantial, proven facts or sources besides what you're saying. Also, what you are describing isn't evolution. It's adaption. The evolution I'm calling bullshit on is "hurr durr humans r monkeys who came from sea and burned fur off lolerp."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hardy-Weinberg_law You can figure out the frequencies of Genes, alleles, and phenotypes of a population. If the resulting numbers are not in equilibrium, then evolution is taking place. Equilibrium being that the genes, phenotypes, and alleles do not change after each generation(which is impossible in nature, as stated above, DNA replication is not perfect, and new genes are introduced when offspring are produced.). Therefore, evolution must be taking place. Evolution being the gradual mutation of a species. Ovo/viviparous reptiles? This is nothing new, there's a good bunch of species of reptiles that do that (Chameleons and extinct Ictiosaurs, for example)
