Maybe women not being able to drive is best in the interest of public health and safety
King? What exactly do they vote for?
Everyone votes for Abdullah.
What I find kind of twisted is how; if the father in the family dies, then the mother still can't drive but rather, the oldest son (regardless of his age, can be 10, can be 11) is sent to driving school. They trust boys behind wheels better than they do women.
I have great news women, now you can vote for ME!
i'm pretty sure the clerics were just thinking they could get mad pussy with this right to vote shit [editline]25th September 2011[/editline]
Safety measures.

it's not that they trust them more, it's just that that entire religion is just 17th century as fuck
It's really not so much the religion as it is the interpretation of it. Most muslims actually criticize these guys. Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wahhabi "Some Muslims, such as one of the most renowned Sunni scholar of Islam, Dr. Shaykh Ramadan Al Bouti as well as Islamic Supreme Council of America, and Abdul Hadi Palazzi classify Wahhabbism as extremist and heretical mainly based on Wahhabbism's rejection of traditional Sunni scholars and interpretation as followed by 96% of the world's Muslim population."

The followers of the old faith who stay the same, some of the new followers like Lutherans who are very passive and benign able to go back to the roots of the religion, and others like Calvin who start fucked up "Reformed" churches. I'm sure you can guess which group old Osama fell into.
Makes sense, have you ever seen women drive?
Have you ever driven in saudi?! Holy shit, I've seen things that would blow your fucking mind. Like a guy crossing an 8 lane junction at 90 odd, guys jumping out of moving vehicles at around 40 and once on the "christian bypass" (no really, look it up) A car just plain drive off an embankment into the desert at full speed and just so many near misses put to "god's will" that nobody was killed. And women often do drive in saudi, when out in the desert roads they put on the old rag and fanbelt and drive about it's only really in cities it's enforced. The stories though, I'm going out for another 2 months on thursday was thinking about putting a thread together on the country from a westerners perspective because the general view is pretty misguided.

Nearly got killed three times in one month. [editline]26th September 2011[/editline] Fun times.
The roadsides in Saudi Arabia are a junkyard owner's dream. So many wrecks...
Not exactly backwards. Its just "Woman stay in kitchen, Men do everything else"
If the women actually did the fighting in the middle east, the U.S. troops would get their asses handed to themselves. Just saying that the men don't do shit, the women do all the hard work and.. they really pack a punch. Good, honorable women.
I don't think it has anything to do with trust rather it's just a stupid third world country with no real potential. [editline]25th September 2011[/editline] Other than oil.
just the right amount of edgy teen angst

I'm not disputing they're hard-working and capable, just that they wouldn't be able to destroy the military. This is a silly discussion, anyway.

[editline]26th September 2011[/editline] My mom could totally kick my ass [editline]26th September 2011[/editline] even if i am a full 2 feet taller than her
Then why haven't they had a revolt yet?
They usually just leave to neighboring countries, Saudi emigrants all around the Middle East because of this.
Sure thing bud
Good to know that you think they are not hard working, good, honorable women. And I wasn't being serious about the Arab mothers going head-on against armed forces, but.. they are strong, in a good womanly way that you Americans know nothing about. And now I'm generalizing American women.. sorry, but still.

Keep telling yourself that, but any additional losses would come from the fact that there would be more soldiers in general, not because they're women. [editline]26th September 2011[/editline]
So you think they are not hard working and honorable and just good women? Good to know. I wasn't being serious about the Arab mothers going head-on against armed forces, but.. the troops wouldn't even dare to shoot, just "Okay ma.."
Yeah, because it's not like there are any female troops in the US Army, right?

lol, who ever heard of a woman voting silly saudis
Good to know that you think they are not hard working, good, honorable women.
And I wasn't being serious about the Arab mothers going head-on against armed forces, but.. they are strong, in a good womanly way that you Americans know nothing about.
pfff they should deploy my mother! she'll nag the enemy to death!
....they couldnt before? and they cant drive? what sort of alternate universe are they living in?
Really, so if the Taliban or whoever had women in their ranks, then we'd be losing far more soldiers? Arab women are strong in the same way a stereotypical Dominican/Puerto Rican women is, you don't fuck with them unless you want them to rip you a new one. [editline]27th September 2011[/editline] Not because they'd make better fighters in the military, they are just vicious when provoked.
Not because they'd make better fighters in the military, they are just vicious when provoked.
Again, sounds kind of racist.
pfff they should deploy my mother! she'll nag the enemy to death!
Jewish mom vs arabic mom ding ding
Wow, the middle east really is another world. No wonder we've been "fighting" there for so long.. (not talking about saudi arabia fyi)
