I'm also concerned that the bystanders didn't do anything either. don't think I'm just singling out the firefighters. someone with a wetsuit and life jacket could've attempted to rescue the man
I don't know about you but I don't stroll around fucking San Francisco wearing diving gear. It's a city, not Sea World.
if I had a wet suit and life jacket then I would swim out there myself and attempt to persuade the man to come back to shore
Have you considered that nobody there had a wet suit and a life jacket. And so they wouldn't go in. Just like you wouldn't. And come on, you act as if they didn't try to get the man to come out. Of course they yelled at him to come out, just because it isn't in a tiny news clip doesn't mean it didn't happen.
I'm also concerned that the bystanders didn't do anything either. don't think I'm just singling out the firefighters. someone with a wetsuit and life jacket could've attempted to rescue the man
Haha, you apparently don't know shit about cold surface water rescue. Nothing short of a cold water suit is going to prevent a diver from freezing in fifty four degree water. You ain't gonna save no one with some wetsuit used in surfing or warm water diving. Your body would begin locking up as soon as it hits the water.
if I had a wet suit and life jacket then I would swim out there myself and attempt to persuade the man to come back to shore
Maybe if you wanted hypothermia.
so if you miraculously just HAPPENED to have a wet suit and a life jacket, you would swim out and PERSUADE him to come back to shore?
so you're telling me it'd be unlikely that out of several dozen people on a beach that none would have a life jacket or wetsuit? what
you're an idiot
fantastic rebuttal [editline]1st June 2011[/editline]
I don't know about you but I don't stroll around fucking San Francisco wearing diving gear.
if I had a wet suit and life jacket then I would swim out there myself and attempt to persuade the man to come back to shore
But they didn't, did they?
so you're telling me it'd be unlikely that out of several dozen people on a beach that none would have a life jacket or wetsuit? what fantastic rebuttal [editline]1st June 2011[/editline] because only divers wear wetsuits
yeah, i am

Yes, in 49 degree water nobody was carrying around a cold water wet suit in case somebody started to drown :downs:
But they didn't, did they?
we don't know whether they did [editline]1st June 2011[/editline]
Yes, in 49 degree water nobody was carrying around a cold water wet suit in case somebody started to drown :downs:
yes, because the only reason a wetsuit is used is to rescue drowning people :downs:
You just can't get the idea through your thick head can you?

Your arguments here are pathetically weak, your points are atrocious and you don't seem to have a single fucking clue about what happened (much like most of us thanks to limited information from news stories). Shit, if it wasn't for the fact you do this all the time, I would say you were trolling, but I believe you are genuinely a social retard. Nobody has this much of a issue in a debate, nobody who can function in real life anyway.
JDK if you seriously still think you're right then how about you go out to a busy beach, and save somebody who's drowning while it's 80 degrees outside. Good luck.
JDK if you seriously still think you're right then how about you go out to a busy beach, and save somebody who's drowning while it's 80 degrees outside. Good luck.
80 degrees out lol that's not even that hot
JDK if you seriously still think you're right then how about you go out to a busy beach, and save somebody who's drowning while it's 80 degrees outside. Good luck.
Don't forget the freezing cold water.

The point is I doubt JDK could save somebody if the water wasn't freezing :colbert: [editline]1st June 2011[/editline]
are you going to actually refute my points instead of attacking my character?
Everybody has already refuted each of your points.
are you going to actually refute my points instead of attacking my character?
What's the point in doing that? You'll just say they are biased, and that I am wrong no matter what I attempt to refute with. Unless I explicitly agree with you. Yes, you are that bad at arguing, you are on Doriol levels of dumb.
nope if you have a good wetsuit you won't freeze in 54F degree water
Haha, you think a few millimeters of neoprene is going to save you? You never use a wetsuit in cold water, you need a drysuit, lined with vaseline or other insulator. Wetsuits have little to no insulation, you'll go unconscious in less than an hour with one.
are you going to actually refute my points instead of attacking my character?
several people have already shown you to be wrong over and over again but you're so ignorant and firm in your fairy tale belief that you're right, that there's literally no reason to try convincing you otherwise
are you going to actually refute my points instead of attacking my character?
You're one to talk.
I'm not the heartless one. the ones that are heartless are the people in this thread who justified doing nothing and letting the person die, while implying that it wasn't worth rescuing him because he was a "miserable sob" who didn't deserve to be rescued.

you can't say that with any degree of certainty. you're talking out of your ass and acting like it would be mission impossible.

once again, forget the firefighter part for a second. as human beings, they should've at least TRIED to do something. if I was just some bystander out there I would've at least tried to help the person
And so on.
are you going to actually refute my points instead of attacking my character?
We already refuted your points, your head is just to far up your ass to realize it.
We already refuted your points, your head is just to far up your ass to realize it.
I was referring to hexpunK specifically he decided to resort to ad hominem and attack my character
I was referring to hexpunK specifically he decided to resort to ad hominem and attack my character
He was just saying what we all want to.
I was referring to hexpunK specifically he decided to resort to ad hominem and attack my character
that doesnt change the fact that we've refuted your points
we don't know whether they did [editline]1st June 2011[/editline] yes, because the only reason a wetsuit is used is to rescue drowning people :downs:
It says in the article that they didn't...
I was referring to hexpunK specifically he decided to resort to ad hominem and attack my character
Oh please. Don't bring up ad hominem when you yourself are just ignoring every argument provided claiming them as baseless. Technically all your arguments are baseless too. There is a very high chance that none of the people there would have been strong enough to bring someone who wanted to die back to shore without getting injured. And as this is in the US, that person would then likely have various lawsuits filed against them. This is one man who was suicidal, if they couldn't help him without risking their own safety it just isn't fucking worth it. Nobody was trained for it, nobody had the gear for it (contrary to your beliefs, not every person in the world wears rescue equipment and has had water rescue training, without that they are a liability, and would cause more damage than good). Shit, I wasn't even trying to join the argument, so pulling ad hominem on my post just makes you a bigger fool than I thought. I was merely pointing out you suck at arguing.
It was either one man dying or six fire-fighters and one man dying. I don't know if I could ever bring myself to make that kind of choice.
It was either one man dying or six fire-fighters and one man dying. I don't know if I could ever bring myself to make that kind of choice.
If I had the training and the know how, yeah I think I'd at least attempt it, that way there is a chance of me surviving the ordeal even if he didn't. Otherwise? Fuck no, it's far too big a risk.
I'm still gonna blame the firefighters because they did nothing to attempt to save the guy, and that's despicable their job nature involves saving others, and they failed miserably in this case
I don't think you are reading at all.
