Bad news.
Update, June 21st 9:45AM: Microsoft has updated its blog post today and removed references to "remain activated." The stealthy edit isn't acknowledged, and we've reached out to the company for comment.
Aww, I have 3 windows laptops that are ancient and can't even pick up an internet signal
I knew it was too good to be true hah.
Getting the final release on July 29th Windows Insiders running the Windows 10 Insider Preview (Home and Pro editions) with their registered MSA connected to their PC will receive the final release build of Windows 10 starting on July 29th. This will come as just another flight. I’ve gotten a lot of questions from Windows Insiders about how this will work if they clean installed from ISO. As long as you are running an Insider Preview build and connected with the MSA you used to register, you will receive the Windows 10 final release build. Once you have successfully installed this build, you will also be able to clean install on that PC from final media if you want to start over fresh. It’s important to note that only people running Genuine Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 can upgrade to Windows 10 as part of the free upgrade offer.*
I don't think it means a full license, just the latest Insider Preview build with the timebomb still intact.
I have windows 8.1 pro, if I install the 10 preview now will I have 10 or will it just give me 10 home?
I have windows 8.1 pro, if I install the 10 preview now will I have 10 or will it just give me 10 home?
Pretty sure it upgrades from the serial, and not from what OS you have.
Will it work if I had a windows 8 build on my old PC and linked to my account but then my PC blew up?
If I install the preview build on my desktop and laptop under the same Microsoft account will I get the final version on both?

Apparently you do get full Win10 by being on the Insider Preview with a connected MSA. https://twitter.com/GabeAul/status/612674365436526592
OK seriously. Do insiders who installed Win10 preview clean (nuking 7/8.1 install) remain activated on RTM or not? cc @GabeAul @joebelfiore

@ZacB_ @joebelfiore Yes, as long as running a prerelease build connected with registered MSA: http://blogs.windows.com/bloggingwindows/2015/06/19/upcoming-changes-to-windows-10-insider-preview-builds/
Yessssss

https://twitter.com/GabeAul/status/612674365436526592 Yessssss
but its to my understanding they don't get updates or what? their official blog post updated a day later states that you MUST have a windows 7/8.1 legit to upgrade. but also that they will continue the windows insider program, does that mean if you stay on insider you still get updates, but if you decide to leave your W10 is stuck on its current version? MS has been terrible at communicating anything to do with W10 in the last few months...not sure why they cant just say things clearly, every time they give more input on the matter makes people more confused. From my understanding the upgrade from Win7/Win8.1 and this are completely different offers, so having or not having legit previous Windows won't make you miss out on getting legit Win10 by installing Insider Preview.
why do they feel the need to stipulate that 'you still NEED win7/8.1 if you want to get a free upgrade', if there's no difference, though?
Maybe if you use the "Change product key" link and put in your Win7/8 key it will count it? [editline]22nd June 2015[/editline] or maybe the previews already keep track of whether the win7/8.1 install you upgraded from was genuine or not

Simply put, be a lab rat for a free cheese.

So do I have to download insider preview to get windows 10 or is connecting my ms account enough?
So my mom has an old-ish desktop computer with Vista on it and I think this could be pretty good for it, would it be okay to do a clean install of this Preview version?
