ok basically all the newsies get locked in a box with no outside communication so they can understand it
at 2:00:00.000PM atomic time, they are allowed to post what's going on
the earliest chicago can find out about it legally is 2:00:00.007PM atomic time -- speed of light over fiber
someone in chicago was trading on that information at 2:00:00.002PM atomic time
because they were the first to trade, they make shitloads of money
so either it was luck or insider trading because it's physically impossible for them to be trading on legal information at 2ms past the hour
35 years prison.
This is probably the same asshole who snipes me on ebay auctions.

Please, elaborate why you think this is.
The people who run the Federal Reserve are corrupt? By God, the people must know! Sobotnik, you told me they cared about poor people and were just trying to make our lives better ;_;
i wonder how long before it becomes profitable to have the stock trading machines moving really fast to use some relativity effects to make money

Since when have I ever said this?
How did the US economy get to be such an unbelievable clusterfuck of nonsense
I used to think people who wished the economy would collapse so we could start over were just idiots, but while I still disagree, I'm starting to see where they're coming from. Every part of the American economy started as something that made sense, and just got built on more and more by people trying to profit for themselves as much as possible until it became a giant hulking eldrich abomination of what the fuck.

How do you propose we restart, and with what rules?
Radiolab did a really good section on High Frequency Trading and how fucking crazy it is:
