Is it really that time of the year again? It feels like yesterday since they last did this. Does anyone know if that stream of NK TV still works? Last I heard it stopped working when NK said they were gonna do their "100 day attack" or whatever it was called.
That's because it probably was yesterday North Korea does not scare the US, at all. But we fear for South Korea
these guy's are so full of shit.
Feels like every spring they start this stuff up for the past 3 years.
Yeah, because Foal Eagle, a joint US/South Korea military exercise, occurs each year at the end of February and beginning of March. The Norks always play up the threat and then have some kind of empty threat or show of force in return. It's a ridiculous gesture to the rest of the world, but to their own people it convinces them that North Korea is ready for war, and the constant threat of war trumped up by their leadership discourages dissent.

This tactic seems to be catching on elsewhere
I wonder what kind of spying and espionage goes on by the KCIA and the American CIA. Like is there some Korean james bond out there shagging north korean women and drinking soju martinis, shaken not stirred?

For example, valuable intel was gathered because the Soviets used documents as toilet paper in some instances when it ran out, so some poor sods had to go collecting shit-stained papers.

The chances of North Korea actually starting a war are Kimpossible.
I never knew about this, that explains a lot.
Great chance to visit RoK if you're participating in Foal Eagle, it's a cold but still enjoyable time to visit.
They could beat us using their powerful elite martial arts tactics:
You can make fun of NK as much as you want, they still scare the shit out of the US, which is much more laughable.
US is more afraid of the political fallout than NK
Only a fan, he actually lived on the Gold Coast which is basically the #1 party zone in Australia.
what? wow, being from Brisbane myself, it's kinda weird to know that I might have actually seen them before, kinda starting to think it's one of my best mate's friends (they live on the GC, broadbeach)
Man I just went back looking at rayhalos posts. Goooood times I wouldn't say terrified but they're definitely worried, hence the very high state of alertness on the DMZ at all times. North Korean artillery could level Seoul in only a few hours, killing God knows how many people. And despite all the jokes they actually have enough strategic resources to fuel and feed their soldiers for a few hundred days, forgot the exact amount. Without a doubt the South and US would win in a war, but plenty of lives would have to be lost for it to happen, civilian and otherwise.
They wouldn't level an entire city in a few hours...even if they launched the pitiful amount of missiles and rockets they had they wouldn't destroy an entire city,
Grorious North Korean Military will crush puny American scum.

Really, it's annoying how many people believe in this cartoony vision of war.

At least a thousand for a week. Or more.

Without a doubt the South and US would win in a war, but plenty of lives would have to be lost for it to happen, civilian and otherwise.
Dude what Not only is Seoul huge, it's a pretty good distance away from the border, around 50~ kilometers, and Kaesong is another 20-30 from anywhere on the border within the 50-60km range of Seoul Conventional gun type howitzers generally top out below thirty kilometers in maximum effective range, and that's the really fucking big ones, Russian 152s and NATO 155s, usually SPG platforms and bigass towed guns, you can squeeze out some extra range with RAPs but the average is around 10-25km The biggest gun type artillery they've got are a homebrew SPG made of some 170mm howitzers of indeterminate origin tacked on top of old Type 59 chassis, range is estimated to be around 40-50km Of course they haven't just got gun artillery, they've also got a lot of rocket artillery, mostly a host of smaller 100+mm launch systems from the Cold War, most of which haven't got much more range than normal gun artillery and in most cases have worse But then there's the big rockets, the 240mm and 300mm MRL systems, those are the real threat, those actually can hit Seoul from the DMZ and beyond But, like I said, Seoul is kinda huge, and those rockets are still conventional explosive payloads, while there isn't a shadow of the doubt that they'd wreak havoc and cause serious loss of life, leveling Seoul in a matter of hours is slightly outlandish, especially given the relatively small number of launchers and rockets they have on hand

Now, add the fact that North Korea wouldn't just start randomly bombarding Seoul for no reason if a war ever broke out. Why on earth would they do that instead of actually targeting the US and South Korean forces they would be inevitably fighting? People constantly treat the North like a deranged bond villain in all aspects, assuming that tactics would be thrown out the window just to wreak havoc on civilians for no gain. It's stupid.
North Korea will never fight South Korea lol (minus a few shells every now and then). The DPRK is crippled and dependent on cottage industries, foreign aid, and selling drugs. It can barely feed itself, let alone have the economic strength to engage in a prolonged war.
because they're trying to do as much damage as possible before the US responds and after China bails their ass out (again)
Then trying to target civilians in Seoul wouldn't make sense, even within your own framework. Assuming that NK's plan is to hold out until they can be reinforced by China (an unrealistic and unfounded assumption), why would they target civilians? Why wouldn't NK act rationally and try to attack military targets which might actually slow the US and SK down? You seem to have this villainous view of NK where they don't have sound strategy for some reason.
On my way to stock up for the inevitable nuclear fallout. Anybody who wants to survive, you know where to find me.
