Court rules cross on federal land is unconstitutional

Good to see this.
Who's going to be offended?
It's not like obama is going to cry on facebook and text his friends to vent if you do.
The point is I could say anything using the argument that letters are a combination of simple lines and curves.
Saying the cross is a lower-case T does nobody any justice because we all know what it symbolizes.
[editline]5th January 2011[/editline]
Also, I'm sure republicans would cry.
That was your argument.
I should erect a statue in the shape of FUCK THE GOVERNMENT
Because it's only a series of lines and curves no one will be offended right?
Yes you should, only those people who are going to be offended by such need to chill the fuck out, caving in simply because someone is offended over expression is just another way of implementing moralist fascism
That was your argument.

Because it's only a series of lines and curves no one will be offended right?
No one's offended by that cross except butthurt Atheists who roam the country waiting for something to "force beliefs upon them" so they can sue someone.
And a LOT of people have "FUCK THE GOVERNMENT" signs on their yards. Nothing new there. Though I don't know why you'd put that sign on federal property to begin with.

How can people be offended by lines and curves? You're so silly!

Oh my god. You're implying atheists are the only one who go around suing people for no reason at all?
I don't understand what religion has to do with if you like the government or not.

We know what retarded christians and angsty atheist think it symbolizes
Sane, rational people (which are nearly extinct in America) view it for what it is, 2 overlapping geometric shapes made out of steel, and painted white, with dickheads thinking it's a attack on their right to not believe in god and the other retards thinking it's represents their imaginary friend and thinks any removal of it is a attack on them
It's a inanimate object for fucks sake, it's not going to spring to life to grab you and force you to believe in god, it's just a fucking shape, why must people be so irrational

The M60 is still in use by the U.S. Navy, dumbass
Also when I said just as well armed as the British, I meant the infantry, not the air support (which doesn't even have any stealth attributes lol)
Also Serb militias shot down 6 F-16s, a Harrier, and a Mirage 2000 during the 1990s with shit designed in the 50s

or people who understand the constitution and think that maybe there shouldn't be an explicitly religious display on federal land

No but you should realize what it means, it might be offensive to people in America, not Africans. You can't say that because ignorant people don't know about certain things that it means those things aren't offensive.
If someone from China has never heard the word "nigger" does that make it alright to use the word "nigger"?
Besides, people may or may not be offended by the meaning, they might also get offended by the idea that America is a Christian nation, with the government paying for Christian monuments, despite the fact that you're inherently supposed to be a secular nation.
I'm sure not all the troops were Christian anyway, and if they were, not all of them wanted to be represented by a cross.
or people who understand the constitution and think that maybe there shouldn't be an explicitly religious display on federal land
It's not even that explicit, considering a homeless man isn't nailed on it

Not related to the korean war but the government is pretty good of keeping track of those things.

Yeah but what headstone are they supposed to put for unidentifiable corpses?
It'd just be easier to make a non-religious headstone and use that instead of just assuming no one will be offended by the cross.
To be overly honest, I'm not offended by the cross, I just think it's a bit foolish to assume all troops are Christian.

I'm not offended by the cross. But I think it's unconstitutional that we have "Under God" in our pledge of allegiance.

Well most troops or christian. you would have to think of it like this. (even though I bet almost all bodies are identified) the person has a 80% chance of being christian and I bet they would want to be with there cross. I wouldnt mind too much if I had a cross over my dead body (even though the golden ratio siral and dragon would be cooler). But I could understand a simple not religious tomb stone.

But why don't they just say they don't know? They're just making baseless assumptions which is a bit unfair to a person who just gave his (or her) life for their country.

It's a bit silly but what are you supposed to do? There's no way the republicans will ever let it get changed, and to be honest, there are bigger problems in the world to address anyway.

Every single hate speech law that has ever been passed in the United States has been struck down by the supreme court as unconstitutional

I just don't say the Under God part during the pledge :v:
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible with liberty and justice for all."
what if its a muslim or atheist?
This was 1944, muslims would have been an extreme minority in the US and chances are the few (if any) who landed on the beaches had astronomical chances of survival due to the proportion of them to troops of more prominent religions.
Atheists are usually registered "no religious preference" (though abbreviated) on their dog tags and would likely get a cross just for simplicity's sake.

Doesnt sound the same to me without the under god part. personally I see the pledge as something to just please the nationalist.

Though today most federal military use a secular headstone with the symbol of choice they or their widow would like to see etched onto it
