Sometimes, shapes represent much more complicated concepts. If you can't relate shapes to concepts, than you are quite literally retarded. In this case, the shape of the cross represents Christianity, and people don't like Christian symbols on their courthouses because they imply Christian religious law and, more subtly, imply the government's support for the Christian religion. This is why people much smarter than you have decided that they should not be allowed on federal property, citing the US constitution, which establishes separation of church and state.

Wouldn't this mean that certain graves would be unconstitutional? Specifically, ones with religious symbols as headstones.
