Aren't the Yakuza ostensibly a force for the community?

Yep, right up to the point where they make you cut off your fingers for dishonor. c:

Isn't that just when their own members act dishonorably, though? I don't think the yakuza lop off civilian fingers. Also I think the finger thing doesn't really happen anymore, though I'm not 100% on that.

I know, I know. I'm toying with you :v:
The finger thing only happens to members.
i used to be very conscious of cleaning up after myself in public places like stadiums and train stations and places like that but it's much harder now that a lot of places have had all of their bins totally removed because of terror threats

Yeah we recycle and seperate trash a lot. I always feel weird when i go to a house where there is no seperate bio-waste bin.
We also get little money back from each bottle and can we return to the recycling machines which are in almost every major shop here.

In the Netherlands you pay 25 cents extra per bottle of cola that you get back if you return it.
No surprise, I think Japan is like the only country that cleans up after themselves. They're known for "being clean". I personally hate it when people leave their trash around after events like these, and I clean up after myself too. Even if there's no trashcans I bring it back home to throw it away.
You would be right in hell where I live. There is fucking garbage EVERYWHERE!
The Yakuza were actually some of the first on the scene to help hand out food and start donating money to relief shelters and such.
there the oddest criminal organization.

If the streets weren't swept every single day by various maintenance companies, the ground would be littered with cigarette stumps.
And of course these maintenance companies always do more or less of a good job, but at least our small capital city is mostly covered unlike some cities of the U.S. where there is literally no maintenance at all, like some parts of Detroit..?
As a cinema usher, I love seeing this. Wish more people would do it.
