Gearbox calls out Valve on PS3 support. - Polidicks

surprisingly enough, valves a company maybe, just maybe, NOT making a PS3 port is more profitable

From what I understand, it takes a lot of work writing a game that runs well on PS3 architecture, let alone getting already written code to run well on it. I can understand that they may not think it's worth the additional development costs, but there's plenty of Orange Box owners on PS3 who got the short straw on this one. There's no excuse for leaving them in the dark.

Maybe it has something to do with Sony hording all the money made off the Half Life port on the PS2 like 8 years ago.... But yeah, porting from the PS3 to the 360/PC isn't possible, it's basically a complete rewrite and if you write a game, make sure you base it around the cell processor, but then you fuck the PC/360 users, which are the majority.

Open the Gearbox and turn the Valve to find the Source of the Steam.

VALVe tried developing games for PS3 but they hate the process. The only reason they did any games for the 360 is because it is a lot easier.

Valve just doesn't put enough time into the PS3. The PS3 can be a really good system, I've seen some really good games/ports for it. It's just valve seems to hate consoles in general. Orange box for both 360 and PS3 is a piece of shit compared to the PC version.

This isn't about Valve or anything, this is marketing. When Valve release a game Gabe slags off Microsoft or Sony. When Gearbox release a game Randy slags off Valve. Because then all the little news sites cover it. What's better than getting all the Valve related sites to link to your interview about your new game.

It seems like company jealousy manifesting as childish shit flinging. Borderlands is good, but nowhere near so good that I would have bought it if it hadn't been on steam. Steam is convenient, and I've never had any problems with Valve, in fact, the guys at valve are awesome. Had my steam account hacked last christmas (Actually on Christmas day), and after some correspondence with Valve support, I had it back the day after boxing day. I wouldn't have got that sort of dedication from any other company, so Gearbox... Shut up, your shit doesn't smell of roses.

I'm more o' a PC gamer anyway. Hopefully when me brother leaves home the bilge rat takes the PS3 with him so I can get an Xbox360.
