buying an entire console to play a HD remake is kinda weird
I bought a psp just to play Monster Hunter. I guess the Wii U is more expensive than that though
buying an entire console to play a HD remake is kinda weird
I rated agree, but I still bought a 3DSXL just to play Ocarina of Time and Star Fox 64, which are port-recreations, not HD. I wouldn't buy a Wii U for this reason though; the DS's portability is a key factor. I'd buy Wind Waker for the 3DS if the system could handle it and they would do it. nostalgia, man
No wonder Nintendo just has to pump out remakes.
buying an entire console to play a HD remake is kinda weird
Nah, they were probably waiting awhile until games were out for the wiiU, and this probably made them aware that there are finally games out for it. something like that.
685 sales still isn't a lot. damn, people can't take a joke.
Every time a sales boost or decline about either the wiiu or 3ds gets posted this joke gets posted as well
No wonder Nintendo just has to pump out remakes.
You mean that thing they do on handhelds, usually after the handheld has sold extremely well?
no, this can't be happening, nintendo is doomed right guys? just like last time?
But Nintendo totally doesn't know what it's doing! This is why they basically repeated the Wii release but in a more controlled and purposeful manner. They should have waited until the games were released to start selling the console because Nintendo consoles never sell like hotcakes or anything. Hopefully this shuts up the idiots who swear up and down that Nintendo has no idea what it's doing and that they're going to die off soon.
They should have waited until the games were released to start selling the console because Nintendo consoles never sell like hotcakes or anything.
But they should have done that because it didn't sell like hotcakes.
Hopefully this shuts up the idiots who swear up and down that Nintendo has no idea what it's doing and that they're going to die off soon.
As long as Nintendo releases the consoles long before a lot of the games people want are released, it ain't gonna end. Heck even I thought the Wii U wasn't gonna make it far after launch, but with this and Smash Bros, it's going to print money.
But they should have done that because it didn't sell like hotcakes.
A 685% increase in sales is quite massive unless previously it was very tiny amounts of sales. Even sales of 1000 WiiUs per week would have increased to 6850.
As long as Nintendo releases the consoles long before a lot of the games people want are released, it ain't gonna end. The people such as one of my friends who will spend the most money on games will get one early and not have to worry about there being a shortage later. Of course that only actually benefits Nintendo. There's just a lot of people who don't seem to grasp Nintendo logic at all. You'd actually think people might have a little more faith in a company that has been in business for over a century, single-handedly revived an industry, and provided us with some of the most well known video game franchises in existence. Obviously they have a fairly decent grasp of what they're doing. If they didn't they wouldn't fairly consistently come out on top.
Glad games are finally coming out for the Wii U. That launch drought was so painful
I'm not sure why they even launched it so early without any games.
685% over 2 isn't very much.

They've shown that all it takes is some screwups to cause a video game legend to collapse in on itself, and at first the Wii U launch seemed like a copypaste of the Saturn's launch, what ended up severely hurting Sega, despite it being done like that because of what you said instead of just wanting to be out before the competitors.
http://xkcd.com/1102/ Always relevant. 685% isn't a lot if there weren't a lot of sales to begin with. What if they sold 700 Wii Us in the entire country instead of 100?
no, this can't be happening, nintendo is doomed right guys? just like last time?
Nintendo: Doomed since 1989.
685% over 2 isn't very much.
I am getting sick of this shit
I have to admit I am tempted by that Wind Waker HD bundle having never played the original version. Plus with Pikmin 3 out and a few other interesting games coming by the end of the year it's definitely compelling.
I'm not sure why they even launched it so early without any games.
The answer is directly above your post.
If a HD remake boosts sales that much, imagine what smash bros is gonna do for the console next year
I can see the sales exploding, at christmas after Mario 3D World comes out. The game looks fucking amazing and offers coop for the whole family.
That's almost 7 whole sales. good job nintendo
That's almost 7 whole sales. good job nintendo
Haha, the originality must have taken forever to come up with such a good, non-repeated joke.
That's almost 7 whole sales. good job nintendo
That's three times this joke has been made in this thread. good job Mr_Awesome
According to http://www.vgchartz.com/ (which is all I got for data) Wii U is actually selling somewhat healthily now, at least it did last week.
I am getting sick of this shit
how is it not valid I actually wasn't even trying to make a joke. WiiU sales are very low so 685%, while shows how important Zelda is to the console, is probably not very much overall. It's just how percentage claims like this work; I wasn't aware it was an overused joke. Sorry for offending your...console or something.
34k a week for a new console is abysmal.
It is more than the hurrf durrf they only sold 685 consoles Like people are saying
It is more than the hurrf durrf they only sold 685 consoles Like people are saying
Its called hyperbole, of course its not literally 685 consoles. But since Nintendo isn't releasing actual numbers the whole 685% is probably pretty misleading.
Wii U sales up 12,483% with SSB4 release
According to http://www.vgchartz.com/ (which is all I got for data) Wii U is actually selling somewhat healthily now, at least it did last week.
from what i've heard, vgchartz is a bad place to get sales figures from
Nintendo: Doomed since 1989.
1889*
haha, with all this talk about sales and stuff, i wonder how their sales figures will do with their next gen console. it hasn't even been announced yet whereas the PS4 and xbox one have arleady been annoucned... pick up your game nintendo sheesh
People seem to forget the 3DS experienced some pretty mediocre sales in it's first year as well.
I don't think that a console should be carried on the release of hd remakes and a few exclusive titles.
