Arizona taking it to the next level: Teachers with accent banned teaching english
Your attitude towards this reminds me of the people that defended the patriot act. Don't do something wrong and there's nothing to worry about!
Instead of spouting stupid shit how about you give me a reason why checking someones immigration status when thier license and registration is checked after they have been pulled over legally is wrong and racist.
All of this is getting blown out of proportion. If you can't speak English properly, or you sort of can but nobody can understand you, then why are you a teacher anyway? Also, if a cop pulls you over and you answer him in Spanish, then of course they're going to assume that you can't speak English and are possibly an illegal immigrant. Even then they would take you down to customs; they wouldn't just throw you into the "beaner van" and haul you back to Juarez.
Their economy is being ruined by illegal immigrants sucking up the states funds. Welfare (and more recently, health care) is being pumped to illegal immigrants so they can sit on their asses and vivir el sueno americano.

George Lopez is the devil; he is responsible for the brainwashing of thousands of thoughtless Hispanics. "Hey, I was watching Lopez Tonight. He didn't like the new immigration law, so neither do I! Viva la..Spain? Mexicaauhwat? Dunno, something like that."
I don't comprehend why anybody would use a heavy accent when teaching children verbal communication using the native language. Even now I still have trouble understanding my friends with heavy accents, despite us easily communicating in near perfect English when visual.
They're probably going to end up just deporting all mexicans with the way this is going.
I sometimes hate my state.

god shut up
Naziona !
But I also don't like Russian teachers when their first language is Russian, they can't speak shit
My English teacher has Spanish as her first language.
:wtc:
Dem immigrants can't do no damn English boi!
Is Arizona communist?
I don't think this measure is necessary for teaching children their native language as they should already know how to pronounce everything correctly. A teacher is also one of the smallest parts in actually learning your language next to family, friends and everyone else around you.
I do think this would be a very good idea for teaching foreign languages, pretty much for every language and country.
My English teacher sounds like that guy from the unpimp ze auto VW commercials. Nobody's ever gonna learn it properly from that old bitch.
I can see what they're getting at, but this is a bit too far.
Ok well it's speeding #1, and #2, that "probable cause" could be questioned and that cop could get in trouble for discrimination then.
Stop trying to act like cops and everyone in Arizona is racist.
probable cause is probable cause.
speeding can be a probable cause
weaving can be a probable cause, they won't get in trouble because the law say they can.

do you really think officers would ask white people for their records?
Most of my English teachers in the past, have been Irish and have had a reasonably strong accent.
This didn't somehow hamper my ability to learn English
Two reasons why this is bollocks.
1. How do you decide if someone is "heavily accented". Where is the line, who decides this.
2. If they are speaking "ungrammatically", then they wouldn't be teaching English.
Why the fuck is my state getting so retarded?
Just imagine if the Republicans were in power.
whose spoken English it deems to be heavily accented or ungrammatical must be removed from classes for students still learning English
Are people even reading this? Note that they "heavily". If you have a heavy accent (to the point where it's very difficult to understand) and/or speak ungrammatically, I don't even see how the hell you got the job in the first place.
A teacher needs to teach correctly, if he can't, no matter the reasons, he shouldn't teach English. And it has nothing to do with ethnicity.

Tru dat.
heavily accented or ungrammatical must be removed from classes for students still learning English
I can see this being a problem as this could be very confusing
I'm in the top set for the majority of my school subjects and our class is always the class that gets the student/trainee teachers. We've had two trainee science teachers, both of which had a very heavy indian accent and spoke bad/broken English. It's a pain in the ass to listen to and not fair for anybody. The kids laugh at the teacher's accent, the teacher doesn't make sense to the kids and nobody has any fun. If the accent is heavy enough to effect the level of teaching, then I can understand them being banned. Imagine being taught English by a teacher who can hardly speak it (and make sense) themselves.
For some reason I read the title as "Teacher with English Accent Banned for Teaching English."
Them damn im-ee-grant-z better not be in mah countray!
Would that include any English accents?
Would that include any English accents?
Well yeah, if they themselves are still learning English than they shouldn't teach English. But just having an accent wouldn't be any worse in an English class than it would in any other class. A typical English class teaches the rules of English that you'd need to know in in order to write properly, not speak properly. After like kindergarten schools tend to assume you know how to speak English properly unless it's obvious that you can't. Being taught written English by a person with an accent would be no different than being taught math by a person with an accent.
You could argue that people who are teaching English to people who are still learning the verbal aspects of the English language shouldn't have an accent, but it's pointless to ban someone with an accent from a class that mostly focuses on writing.
English class isn't actually about learning English. It's about grammar and writing structure and all that shit. If they're teaching kids how to speak English who don't know how to speak the language in the first place, then yeah okay.

Also no one was banned this was more of a suggestion.
If a child is learning English, you want them to learn it with the correct accent. If a heavily accented teacher is teaching a kid its first lingual baby steps, then chances are that the child's gonna have a hard time adjusting to an American accent.
I remember back in elementary school, we had a substitute teacher with a thick Russian accent give us our spelling test. Most of the class failed because they simply couldn't understand her.
I have mixed feelings about this.
If the teacher has an accent but is understandable by most students and grammatically correct, there should be no problem. However, if the teacher has a thick accent and makes regular grammatical mistakes, they should not be teaching an english class.
NOT RACIST YOU BLEED HEART LIBERALS, THIS IS TO STOP ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION.
By giving law enforcement the legal authority to stop anyone that even LOOKS like an immigrant on the grounds of "reasonable suspicion"?
"Yes, I was reasonably suspicious that he came to this country illegally."
:downs:
If they are learning english, and the teacher has a thick accent, i can understand it.
I like how people are taking OP's comment seriously
Arizona is now the top kkk state!
