I'm pretty sure this is a normal thing for dogs to do, I wouldn't say it's newsworthy. Some old man died out on a walk and you're all congratulating the dog on being dog-like.
It's been happening for years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greyfriars_Bobby
fuck that futurama episode seriously, i cried for ages after it :(
I teared up. So depressing. :(
the one time fry had a deep thought about his dog moving on, and so should he, and he still turns out to be a moron.
Animals die all the time as well. Things like this are built into animals, its their nature - like our human nature, so it is not uncommon.
I disagree. For a dog to choose loyalty over his own survival and self-protection instincts is quite rare indeed.

Stating it's not rare and then posting an article semi-famous about this sort of case doesn't MAKE it rare you know.
I have two golden retrievers. Best dogs ever.
Aww, what a lovely dog. :3:

You had to go make me look it up. Now I'm sad.
No puns in this news.
And who are you again?
And this is why dogs are better then cats, goldens are a great breed.
People have to realize that dogs are not very intelligent in relation to humans. It probably didn't know what the fuck was going on and it didn't stay with its owner out of loyalty and extreme love, but because of it's limited mental capacity.

Hey now, yesterday something amazing happened to me. One of my cats had gotten lost in 2006, we looked EVERYWHERE for it. We searched all over town, asked around for it, I believe we even put up fliers, but he was gone. No sign of him for four years until Monday, VERY battered, sick and starved, he just walked into the house like nothing had happened. We have no clue what happened to him, one day he just vanished. We think he was resting in the underside of a car (he tends to do this) and it drove off somewhere leaving him stranded until he could find his way back. Anyways, after he came back after FOUR years, he's been sitting with us ever since. He's been sleeping on the foot of my bed every time I go to sleep. This is why cats don't suck.
(Any animal can be loyal, dogs are just above par.)
I wish Dogs lived equally as long as humans, that way the emotionally attachment would be even larger.
I miss my best friend.
My dog is sleeping, cant wait to hug him in the morning.
