I mean, shit, if they did this all live action I would be 100% down for it.

They did, it was the first movie which was based on the Shiney Time Station or whatever it was.
I was excited to see that as a kid but never got chance to, then I saw a review of it and my heart dropped, I never knew it was based on that version of it or that it was so different to the show I grew up watching or the books I read.
It had gone from Thomas and friends living on an island of the cost of north Lancashire/Cumbria, a place you really could get to on an 45 minute train journey from where I lived, a place where, whilst it was a show about talking trains it was grounded in something of a reality to this strange magical world where the trains talk because magic and there is a magical railway and magical station porters and MAGIC!
Gone were the stories trying to teach things to kids and replaced was just silly magic stuff.
I did some mild reading on the production on the movie, I recall there being some major changes made to it, people getting sacked at the last minute, some backstabbing so who the hell really knows what happened.

I rode a train for the first time in my life in January. It was very boring.

This was the Guardian article, by the way. This was probably the point it should have shut down, nothing can ever top this

For the record, all the "villains" on Thomas and Friends are the dirty diesel engines. I'd like to think there was a good environmental message in there, but when the good engines pump out white smoke and the bad engines pump out black smoke – and they are all pumping out smoke – it's not hard to make the leap into the race territory.
What the fuck? White/Black Light/Darkness is a pretty standard good/bad dichotomy, that dude's going out of his way to be offended. No shit everything seems racist if you can't stop seeing everything from a racial angle.
Also, what does this have to do with PC? International stories are a rather common cartoon trope.

Imagine desperately struggling to stay awake because if you fall asleep you'll miss your stop and end up having to wait another hour just to get on the next train back.

Also extremely expensive seasonal passes like jesus is commuting via train not fun
I had no fucking idea thomas the tank engine was so important to british culture. I guess it goes
1. The Queen
2. Tea
3. Thomas the Tank Engine
in terms of national importance
Back at my dad's house I have a massive crate full of Thomas the Tank trains, they were a pretty integral part of my childhood. So much so, that I was confident that when I grew up I was going to be a train driver.
Nothing will ever compare to the live-action Thomas The Tank Engine episodes, honestly.
I went back and re-watched a bunch, and even now the special effects are really kind of incredible for a show like that.
