http://www.gallup.com/poll/1645/guns.aspx Just polls on guns. I like the one halfway down, "Do you have a gun in your home?" "Yes" "No" "No Opinion" - Up to 4% of people pick this. What's goin on here?
Totally unbiased website.
unbiased is a buzzword that doesn't mean anything. reality itself has a bias. just know the bias of the source and double check sources and factual claims and you're fine. or is that too hard for you to do?
Reality is considered unbiased. Bias extends in some direction away from reality.
assault weapon sounds really scarey tho
The best part is, it's just a pretend term that holds no actual meaning in context of firearms. Literally anything you assault someone with is your assault weapon.
a step in the right direction of banning all guns.
Too bad criminals don't follow laws.
Reality is considered unbiased.
Too bad criminals don't follow laws.
but they do obey the laws of physics. how do you shoot a gun if none are available?
but they do obey the laws of physics. how do you shoot a gun if none are available?
You manufacture them because they are piss easy to make.
I'm ok with this.
but they do obey the laws of physics. how do you shoot a gun if none are available?
how do you get rid of all guns?
but they do obey the laws of physics. how do you shoot a gun if none are available?
Two words for you and I'm going to say them slowly: Black. Market. You ban the legal sale, ownership, and manufacture of weapons: people will just own, build and sell them illegally. Completely getting rid of guns is impossible.
how do you get rid of all guns?
duh you just write a law!

But if you want you could also look on youtube for the infinite source of "Homemade 12g/.410 shotgun" videos or if you really feel like getting diy'ish you can look up the Home Gunsmith guides.
Homemade guns I like the sounds of that.
but they do obey the laws of physics. how do you shoot a gun if none are available?
With a border to Mexico, almost as many legal (let alone illegal) guns as we have citizens, and a thriving black market fueled by the drug trade, what could you possibly do to make them unavailable?
With a border to Mexico, almost as many legal (let alone illegal) guns as we have citizens, and a thriving black market fueled by the drug trade, what could you possibly do to make them unavailable?
doesn't Mexico get their guns from the US?
Great, now ammo is going to be even harder to find than it already is.
Harder? It's downright impossible to get any ammo locally for any of my guns, aside from my shotgun. This is from someone in Missouri. Every gun store around here has a one box limit on certain types of ammo, like 9mm para. That's IF they have any. Last i checked, Cabela's, MidwayUSA, and Cheaper Than Dirt aren't even listing 9mm para ammo on their sites, due to it all being sold out.
It's the same way in Ohio (Cleveland at least).
yeah, i've been trying to procure some more 9mm para rounds so i can enjoy some target practice with my brother at his new house, but i'm stuck with a single box i bought several months ago.
yeah, i've been trying to procure some more 9mm para rounds so i can enjoy some target practice with my brother at his new house, but i'm stuck with a single box i bought several months ago.
I was talking to my friends dad, and he said that even .22 ammo was becoming scarce, not to mention .357 and .38.
The only ammo I see any more is .22 magnum and .327 Fudd
doesn't Mexico get their guns from the US?
If they do, I doubt they buy them legally then smuggle them over.
Completely getting rid of guns is impossible.
True, but we can get rid of many of them, or at least bring them under state control.
True, but we can get rid of many of them, or at least bring them under state control.
Who is "we" and how do "we" expect to get rid of them? By force? Because that would totally work without a hitch.
Who is "we" and how do "we" expect to get rid of them? By force? Because that would totally work without a hitch.
Well usually through gradual legislative change. Do it too quickly and people get quite angry and annoyed. Gradualism is one of the most successful political ideas, and it can change a country to a point that reversing such a deeply entrenched policy would be seen as madness. Like it or not, but gradualism can even work on something like firearms in America (though it will take decades of gradual reform to do this). And if you don't believe me, could you imagine if say the Federal government got rid of the 1968 Act? There would be uproar from a lot of people, and the gun-lobby would probably have divisions since at least a good few chunks of it were supported by organizations such as the NRA.
Why are Americans objecting assault weapon ban so much? I don't get it, why the hell would you as a civilian own an assault rifle? Isn't a pistol enough? Coming from Europe, where all guns are pretty much banned, I cannot fathom this.

An 'assault weapons' ban is petty and will do nothing to stop actual crime.
This is good.
