Give me a Supreme commander game with a holographic map and battle, and i will buy it.
Regardless of your opinion, this is some very, very impressive tech.
I am impressed by the tracking, it's a little slow to what other experience offer, but that's because it's a different approach. It's very likely they will be able tracking above 60-75 fps needed for a comfortable experience. My final opinion I will mention on this is that I think there should be an arm's race for HPU's between companies like nividia, amd, and intel.
is it just me or does this give off serious orwellian dystopian vibes especially with the fake dog at the end
I just thought of something amazing. What if this was used for games like DND, Warhammer 40k, or possibly having plastic green army soldiers coming to life and waging war on each other. God damn the possibilities for this tech is endless!
I've always wondered if it would be practical to have a second layer of liquid crystal display that increases its opacity behind an object, think of the segments on a calculator/clock LCD that go from transparent to black, and turn that all into pixels [t]http://i.imgur.com/sdfT9HC.png[/t]
The issue with that is focus. You probably could blot out a region extremely smudgily but that's it (without complicated optics at least). [editline]23rd January 2015[/editline] It's pretty crazy that almost all of the tech necessary for has been developed at this point. It's just still far too bulky. Except for [sp]controlling it by thought[/sp] and [sp]emergent AI[/sp] that is. (Huge spoiler.)
Nice CG concept video. I'll come back when it's actually happening.
They uh actually had demos for the press. There's already a few writeups about it on the verge and the like. Honestly the main successs will be the day, they'll manage to get the display into contacts.
Not sure really how much of this is CGI but this demo makes it look really convincing...
This is acted. She is not in sync witht the stuff happening in the hologram.
This is acted. She is not in sync witht the stuff happening in the hologram.
Could be, though I think there would be some input lag anyways
Could be, though I think there would be some input lag anyways
She's earlier sometimes. Mostly visible when shown from the camera perspective. [editline]23rd January 2015[/editline] Just look at 2:50 after "mirror", she's not even moving her finger or hoding it up into the view. [editline]23rd January 2015[/editline] Also the fact that she was recreating the quad copter they already had 3d printed "from memory" I mean come ON.
Also the fact that she was recreating the quad copter they already had 3d printed "from memory" I mean come ON.
Uh how is that something unlikely? It was a rather simple design
Uh how is that unlikely? It was a rather simple design
It basically suggests that this part of this event was scripted. This doesn't mean they aren't developing the software though.

[sp]like a sane person[/sp]
Finally now I can play Daikatana as it was meant to be with Romerovision(tm)
My first though was how lucky the future psychedelic users are.
She must of practiced a lot to keep her hand motions in sync, like a professional lip singer, or she practiced the model design itself. [sp]like a sane person[/sp]
or she really did design it, so it wasnt hard to do a few more times...
Y'know, if you could get this to create overlays on an entire environment, Karl Pilkington will have been right all along. (4:40)
I wonder how many people will be making crazy 3D giant cock holograms with this device.
Only me
She must of practiced a lot to keep her hand motions in sync, like a professional lip singer, or she practiced the model design itself. [sp]like a sane person[/sp]
How is that sane, hours of practice for a "look we already printed it" moment that's clearly scripted. What's the intended effect of that? And the movement? Like, not lagging but her movements not corresponding to the movement of the cursor at all?

And They said they made it using only a 3D printer but I somehow doubt that unless I missed the news article about 3d printers being able to print motors.
Showed this to someone in my house and all he said was: "Great, more shit for people to put into their faces. Soon people won't know what's real and what's fiction, that's all this will accomplish."
dystopian future or porn industry golden era
There was a guy who was working on something similar some years ago. I lost his name unfortunately.
I'm curious as to how the hell it would know where walls and tables are. They probably had to fix a lot of wacky clipping.
I'm curious as to how the hell it would know where walls and tables are. Though there are probably going to be accuracy issues and clipping problems on some surfaces.

So yes the model she created during the presentation was not printed, I have no doubts that they took their time in designing compartments for the motors and what not's. The point of that part of the presentation was, hey look at how quick you can prototype with this, and just general c00lness
or she really did design it, so it wasnt hard to do a few more times...
Pretty much that
Imagine all the porn. :) [Fapping intensifies]
Looks like shit and it will never work and catch on.
Looks like shit and it will never work and catch on.
That's a very pessimistic point of view.
Looks like shit and it will never work and catch on.
Interesting thoughts. Care to elaborate? Preferably beyond the point of initial thought?
