I dont see why this is a cat vs dog thing.
I see this as a loved pet vs abused pet thing.
Its a shame the dog was raised the way it was, so it had to be put down. Those sort of pet owners make me sick.
Hey, this happened where I live.
This dog was probably abandoned when it was young. Animals get abandoned around here pretty often, unfortunately. It gets really hot in Bakersfield and food is obviously scarce for strays, so they get vicious when they're overheated and hungry. It's pretty clear that this dog either saw an easy meal and he just went for it, or he was asserting dominance over his territory, but I'm leaning toward the former. Sad story, awesome fucking cat.
This looks like a feral dog attack to me.
This should of happened to that dog 1:10

This is fucking retarded. Theres no such thing as a bad dog, its either a rough upbringing or poor owners. This is a case of both since where the fuck are the owners to begin with.
Don't think it's been posted, but according to Reddit, this is a gif of the kid thanking the cat.

Haha, that cat. Those injuries were a lot worse than I expected, I thought maybe the dog grabbed the child's foot or something.

Have you ever been bitten by an angry dog before? Their bite is nasty when they really meant to gore you. The kid wasn't wearing long pants so his ankle was unprotected. If he had worn jeans or leather pants or a baggy track pants, the bite might not be so severe.
Plus we all heard horror stories of young children getting gored to death by big viscious dogs. That boy was lucky that his cat and his mother was around to save him. The cat is the real hero. Acting immediately to a threat that could have end his life.
Plus I would like to say that Dog is a cowardly bastard for attacking a young child unprovoked and getting chased away by a small cat. This incident breaks the cliche that Cats are afraid of dogs. Well this kitty proved felines are as good as dogs as pets.

This is indeed the child and the cat, I saw it on the news this morning.
It is incredibly heartwarming to see a cat go through what it did to save its friend. Dogs get all of the attention, as much as I love both animals.
Good thing they put that sick piece of shit of a dog down.
You can say what you want about mishandled and abused dogs, this was completely unprovoked and outright insidious.
The way you put that is hilarious.
Like the dog was just out to hurt people.

i think its pretty stupid that we are arguing about this
a piece of shit abused dog attacked a poor kid for no reason
a cool cat kicked his ass
doesn't mean all dogs are shit, doesnt' mean all cats are amazing, it depends on the actual thing

i have a giant ass dog bite wound on my arm
the dog was abused in the past but it was completely unprovoked
i am still a total dog person but there are just pieces of shit in every species

You're joking, right? The only time a dog gets attention in the media is when a pit bull attacks. Cats get far more coverage because cute cat pics are fucking huge.
I mean I get that what the cat did could be considered brave, but let's not kid ourselves either.

From personal experience I've seen way more stories about dogs saving lives than cats.

Dogs are traditionally seen as a loyal companion who will protect it's family no matter what, while cats are usually perceived as a flaky or manipulative fair-weather friend; to the point that this report is at least partially notable because "Hey look this cat did a dog thing"
Then maybe I haven't been looking hard enough; Most everyone I know agrees that dogs are vicious terrible child murderers and that cats are infallible.
The video is down apparently :\

Just go to the source, there's a video there.
This will never make me hate cats any less than I do, but I like that cat.
I'm glad that dog was put down, and I hope the family was able to sue the owners for damages.

I hope the deer was shot, That dog is probably dead now from that beating.

The internet is obsessed with cats what are you talking about
I have a scar from a dog bite wound in the space between my eye and my eyebrow.
There are definitely asshole dogs
I got bitten by some dudes dog once when I ran around a corner to catch my bus (dog was on the other side of the corner and got surprised)
I can see why it happened, but its still really annoying that you can just get bitten for basically no reason by some dog that the dickhole owner did a shitty job of training. While there's a lot of good dogs, a lot of owners simply don't have the living conditions that healthy dogs require, and they don't have the time and energy to raise it properly so it just becomes a loose cannon and/or a noisy pooping machine.
