Scientists convert skin cells to beating heart cells
Misconception by the OP. You cannot turn simple squamous epithelial cells into cardiac muscle cells. The cell structure and function is completely different. What is more likely is that the researchers took the stem cells (that form the skin cells) and reassigned them to form cardiac cells.
This isn't the first time this experiment has happened but it's a good sign that it's becoming more common. I imagine that in 20 years, we'll be growing our own organs in little culture farms. :science:

I confess that I didn't read the article. Okay so the researchers are trying to reverse the growth of skin cells into pleuripotent cells.

Yeah, basically a super cell which can take the coding of any cell around it, and turn into one.
Now this I can get behind. I wonder if the "Affordable Care Act"/Obamacare would cover it.
Please stop posting.
I want those beating cells on my penis.

Science is finally showing progress since the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's.

Only reason it's taken this long is because in the 60's & 70's the scientists took a break with the wonderful drug known as LSD :)
Science is very awesome and this just enforces my opinion on it.
They better work on this ASAP. I need it for my Diabetes. (No relation to my avatar)
I want a Space Marine gene seed.
god science is amazing

Its not an opinion if its a fact :science:
Told a teacher about this last week, said it was bullshit and could not be done ever. well, that's what i get for talking about science to an orthodox christian rancher.
When Gabe Newell has a heart attack this can be used to make sure he lives on FOREVER
Holy shit, they did this without the need for stem cells? Maybe now people won't bitch so damn much. Still, this is great news. :D
