WoW is nowhere as good as it used to be when the level cap was 60.
But Alterac Valley will always have a special place in my heart <3.
Does this work for the F2P people?
I'll get to level 80, but i have one little nitpick.
Where is my fucking gold? The whole point of levelling and doing quests was for the Money. Atleast for me, that is.
There goes WoW's chance to end on a high note.
I don't think ending an MMO on a "high note" is a smart idea...
Using a guide I got to 85 in about a day and a half.
Then quit a week or so later because I realized that WoW is boring as hell.
80-85 with literally the fastest method takes ~1 day of gametime :)
The people saying this is a desperate move dont understand Blizzard. Its just a money hungry move and nothing more. Thats really always been the reason behind these promotions.
I honestly see WoW as an MMO that won't die out any time soon.
Other things come and go, but they're just flawed by picking too much of a niche to make a great MMO.
Look at:
LOTR:Online, it targeted MMO players who would pay a monthly subscription; who also liked Lord of the Rings, even though WoW already offered a similar fantasy vein, more players and a bigger world, which met the first two criteria.
Conan, who the fuck came up with this idea. Their niche is Conan fans. Hell, I didn't know shit all about Conan, bought the game, enjoyed it for a bit, but then it got boring. Conan fans also have WoW to turn to for the bigger world/ fantasy elements/ more players.
SW: TOR, it targeted MMO players who would pay a monthly subscription; who also liked Star Wars. They hit a slightly bigger niche with the use of a futuristic setting, but I can still see it dying out very quickly, as it's basically the same niche as SW: Galaxies (which also died out) and the niche is also loosely covered by all the superhero games (why are there so many anyway?), EVE Online, etc.
I think Planetside will do well, it's original enough to really stand out.
I'm pretty excited about Tera at the moment, combat in that game is really fun. Can't wait for next beta weekend. :p
Just redemmed my scroll. My step brother sent it to me. my WoW account was frozen since '07. now im a level 80 retribution paladin !
I got rid of my subscription last month.
Anyone not got those emails?
Fucks sake I've been waiting 2 days for 2 different emails from 2 different people...

log into your account and check scroll history it will be in there. For some reason the email sometimes doesn't show up.

I don't know what to think about TERA I mean I get nearly every mmo on release play it for a month or two then never touch it again.
Is it worth it to reactivate an account to get the free 80, then level up to 85 and sell the account?
I want to get a scroll of resurrection , if anyone of you guys want a free mount PM me so I give you my email and you can send me the scroll!
Wow was fun for the first 30 or so levels, then it was grind grind grind followed by high level grind grind grind followed by shelling out more money for more higher level grind grind grind.
Still, some of my fondest gaming memories are of those first 30 levels. Amazing sense of discovery and exploration.
They probably aren't doing it because they're hurting. They're probably doing it because they're moving on soon enough and they're going to weed WoW out for all they can get.

I really can't see how. I took ages to get to 80~.
I view WoW as kind of like a steam engine. It was highly innovative and efficient, with the core mechanics of many other inventions taking ideas from it, but its a little outdated now.
Not to incur the wrath of the hornets nest that is the FP bandwagon, but I don't think we will be seeing a totally new change of mechanics for a long while.
I still remain a little optimistic about the expansion, but we will have to wait and see. The mechanic of a neutral-until-faction-is-chosen race is an interesting idea. The theme is a bit childish but pandarens have been around for awhile in the RTS games.
I remember saying to my friends way back in vanilla WoW that goblins should be added to the game as a neutral-until-chosen race.

Why would you choose to be the easiest type of character possible? WoW is going to get boring quick for you.
As for me, after playing WoW since the Christmas after launch and then quitting halfway through Cataclysm, I don't think I'm ever going to pick up an MMO again. [sub]My Draenei warrior will always have a place in my heart though. <3[/sub]
Im doing this, because you get free character move. Unfortunately you can only move the character that you boosted so I'm just taking the free character move. Not the 80 boost. sad..
i got fucked over with this, about a week before they started this offer they sent me an email offering me 7 days of free time, so im like what the hell ill go back and see whats changed and then they offer this
now i cant make use of it since my account has been active after march 4th
I might do this to get into a friend's realm
I know like 30 people that play WOW, but not a single one of them shares a realm with me.
I havent played WoW in years, and my sister still plays it with her boyfriend. maybe I'll try it out again
You know, starting out at level 80 isn't all it's cracked up to be. I did that once as a Shaman on a private server, I was so fucking overwhelmed with all the different spells and abilities. It's much better to go from 1-80 naturally so you can ease into a more advanced and difficult role to be a much more effective player.
i sued to do all my friends dailies and raids when they couldnt, i really never found it that had, id spend 10 minutes looking at the spell book followed by 20min on elitist jerks and i could do things no problem,
I think their getting desperate.
They're*
WoW
1-10: Spend it in ahhh at new shiny things
10-60: Level up, not too much fun, boring grind,
60-65: Oh cool burning crusade and flying
65-80: Boring
80-85: Grind Grind Grind baby
85: Do the same thing over and over hoping for a difference outcome (the loot you wanted), occasionally switch to new dungeon/raid/whatever to repeat it another 1000 times.
Level 1-20: Get bored of the grind and never touch an MMORPG again.
Ah fuck I remembered I said to my guild, "brb".
It's been 5 months now :v:
Simply put, all off my friends left WoW, and it got boring without them.
