Never said they can't own one? I'm for all for having guns, i just want more control over who can/can't get it and kinds they can get. Unlike you and Perfumery and other gun nuts most Americans are completely uneducated on guns (myself included) and would end up doing something stupid with them.
I would have thought that after the Columbine, most Americans would have some idea of what deadly force looks like.
Unlike you and Perfumery and other gun nuts most Americans are completely uneducated on guns (myself included) and would end up doing something stupid with them.
So guns should be banned because some people are complete fucknuts?
Is this thread even going anywhere? It seems like one be argument with Llivavin.
It's more like slamming your skull against a brick wall over and over believing that the wall will eventually move aside and let you through. It's why I haven't really said anything to Llivavin.
holy shit 10 pages in 3 hours and yet noone seems to have significantly changed their opinions
Nice
Never said they can't own one? I'm for all for having guns, i just want more control over who can/can't get it and kinds they can get.
Alright, how about law abiding citizens get the guns that the governments says they can, and then criminals get whatever guns they want, seeing as how no one is going to say to themselves, "I'm going to go kill someone, but I should still obey gun control."
Let him take my shit. I'm not going to hurt the guy. My insurance will cover it.
WHOA. WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA Christ I hope you're never a parent.

Folding or telescoping stock
Pistol grip
Bayonet mount
Flash suppressor, or threaded barrel designed to accommodate one
Grenade launcher (more precisely, a muzzle device which enables the launching or firing of rifle grenades)
Since when does a folding stock make a gun more deadly since when does a pistol grip make a gun more deadly There hasn't been a bayonet crime in the US for decades flash suppresors are already ridiculously difficult to attain, and they need a federal permit NOBODY sells grenade launchers Semi-automatic pistols with detachable magazines and two or more of the following:

Magazine that attaches outside the pistol grip
Threaded barrel to attach barrel extender, flash suppressor, handgrip, or suppressor
Barrel shroud that can be used as a hand-hold
Unloaded weight of 50 oz (1.4 kg) or more
A semi-automatic version of an automatic firearm
how does an external mag make a gun more deadly see my point on flash suppressors above barrel shrouds actually make guns safer the fuck does weight do to make a gun more deadly? so what if it's a full-auto counterpart, if it's not full auto itself? Semi-automatic shotguns with two or more of the following:

Folding or telescoping stock
Pistol grip
Fixed capacity of more than 5 rounds
Detachable magazine
see above point see above point that's a ridiculously low capacity how does a detachable mag make a gun more deadly
Actually flash suppressors come on virtually every AR-15 platform rifle. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flash_suppressor It just makes it so the flash isn't blinding for the shooter. Arguably its a fucking safety feature more than anything. Which makes it even MORE ridiculous to have it on the assault weapons list. The list in general is just ridiculous.
holy shit 10 pages in 3 hours and yet noone seems to have significantly changed their opinions
This is Facepunch, have you seen anyone here ever change their opinion?
So, liberal-raised children are obviously correct about gun control, not like there have been any break-ins or kidnappings recently.
My mom and dad are conservative :downs: and my dad owns a gun.
Okay so as far as gun culture, not really. You probably wouldn't understand how the majority of the rest of the US feels about guns in the first place.
I've also lived in MA while always going upto NH, also lived in florida
The thing is undereducation should not be a reason for legislating a law like this.
If not a ban then strict regulations, mandatory education and registration. [editline]11:28AM[/editline]
Alright, how about law abiding citizens get the guns that the governments says they can, and then criminals get whatever guns they want, seeing as how no one is going to say to themselves, "I'm going to go kill someone, but I should still obey gun control."
Not all criminals start out as criminals. [editline]11:29AM[/editline]
WHOA. WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA Christ I hope you're never a parent.
Things =/= person. I'm sure the issue would be different if his kid was getting attacked.
Wait, does this mean California's downright stupid gun laws can be federally overturned?
I used to be anti-guns, but now I'm seeing the reason why we're supposed to have them, in case the government becomes too infatuated with itself. Businesses should have the right to restrict it however they want though.
Not all criminals start out as criminals.
So basically your argument is that owning a gun makes you more likely to become a criminal.
So basically your argument is that owning a gun makes you more likely to become a criminal.
No, i'm saying that most criminals form out of shitty conditions and easy access to a gun doesn't help.
Wait, does this mean California's downright stupid gun laws can be federally overturned?
In time, yes. Finally the stupid AW ban can go away and I can buy decent rifles.
I used to be anti-guns, but now I'm seeing the reason why we're supposed to have them, in case the government becomes too infatuated with itself. Businesses should have the right to restrict it however they want though.
You want businesses to self-regulate? wat.
In time, yes. Finally the stupid AW ban can go away and I can buy decent rifles.
What do you intend to buy? Assault rifles are still illegal.
No, i'm saying that most criminals form out of shitty conditions and easy access to a gun doesn't help.
Black market buddy. It doesn't matter whether or not guns have been banned or not, there will still be guns floating around the black market that are illegal.
I'm generally liberal, but very much in favor of gun rights.
good for america
If humans were perfect, we wouldn't need weapons.
What do you intend to buy? Assault rifles are still illegal.
ARGH! Assault weapons =/= assault rifles! An assault rifle is a fully automatic or burst fire rifle that fires and intermediate cartridge. This is california's definition of an assault weapon:
(1) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following: (A) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon. (B) A thumbhole stock. (C) A folding or telescoping stock. (D) A grenade launcher or flare launcher. (E) A flash suppressor. (F) A forward pistol grip. (2) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has a fixed magazine with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds. (3) A semiautomatic, centerfire rifle that has an overall length of less than 30 inches [762 mm]. (4) A semiautomatic pistol that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following: (A) A threaded barrel, capable of accepting a flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer. (B) A second handgrip. (C) A shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel that allows the bearer to fire the weapon without burning his or her hand, except a slide that encloses the barrel. (D) The capacity to accept a detachable magazine at some location outside of the pistol grip. (5) A semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that has the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds. (6) A semiautomatic shotgun that has both of the following: (A) A folding or telescoping stock. (B) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon, thumbhole stock, or vertical handgrip. (7) A semiautomatic shotgun that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine. (8) Any shotgun with a revolving cylinder.
As you can see, it's all cosmetics. [editline]11:38AM[/editline] And pre-86 assault rifles are legal in the united states. [editline]11:40AM[/editline]
California. I don't hear, see or talk to anyone about guns, and most of my friends are in the same boat.
That's a fucking stupid representation of gun culture. California has shitty gun laws and people are nearly persecuted for talking about guns.
And pre-86 assault rifles are legal in the united states.
Yeah but you need a permit and like $20,000 to buy a Pre-86 AK.
Wait, does this mean California's downright stupid gun laws can be federally overturned?
God yes.
Yeah but you need a permit and like $20,000 to buy a Pre-86 AK.
He was saying if it was legal or not.
That's a fucking stupid representation of gun culture. California has shitty gun laws and people are nearly persecuted for talking about guns.
I love this right here because you live in California right? (I'm not being sarcastic)
I used to be anti-guns, but now I'm seeing the reason why we're supposed to have them, in case the government becomes too infatuated with itself. Businesses should have the right to restrict it however they want though.
But wouldn't the businesses be infringing on their rights? Why would a business want to ban them anyways?
I love this right here because you live in California right? (I'm not being sarcastic)
Yeah, California gun "owner" (I really don't own anything but my parents have 4 guns that are "mine".)
But wouldn't the businesses be infringing on their rights? Why would a business want to ban them anyways?
It's tough. I don't think so, I think if I open my own barber shop, I should be allowed to say if I want guns to be brought in or not. But by my same logic, a place has their right to disallow service to blacks because it's a private business. Maybe it's different because racial issues =/= guns. You choose to have a gun, you don't choose to be black.
