Not as dependent as you might think.
It's still possible.
To rebel we'd need to win over the military and the military is more or less loyal to the country.
I highly doubt it. A revolution will come by the form of reinitializing the constitution to its former glory versus those who would rather Europeanize the American government.
Wow. Ok, and you think I'm 14.
To rebel we'd need to win over the military and the military is more or less loyal to the country.
1) The military is composed of PEOPLE just like civilians, except well trained. Loyalty to the country? Or to the government? There's a difference.
2) The insurgents in Iraq and Afghanistan have no military, yet they are still there, fighting.
The South will rise again!
"good thing we got our guns, let's show the government the real meaning of freedo- OH SHIT F-22s"

lol
what are you talking about
Has the US ever tried to oppress it's citizens to the point where an armed conflict occured?
Trust me, when you say that "Those guns are to fight their government!" it's actually going to be used to rape, loot, riot, and kill cops. Nobody is going to charge the capital building and shoot up some senators.
Whiskey Rebellion
Whiskey Rebellion
Surprisingly, there were no deaths in that.
Whiskey Rebellion
1790s... you know... BEFORE the government had weaponry and tactics far exceeding the capabilities of any citizen.
Well I'm sure not all Afghans fought in that war and have been city dwellers most of their lives as well.
There's a large expanse of people between the cities of America.
He's got a good point.
Compare your average Afghan and compare your average US Citizen.
Your average US Citizen likely has an office job and is likely to be overweight, your average Afghan is pretty fucking hardcore in comparison.
1790s... you know... BEFORE the government had weaponry and tactics far exceeding the capabilities of any citizen.
What did they use to defeat the British in the Revolutionary War then?
The same technologies and tactics available to citizens obviously.
Cool

Again, you ignore the differences between people in those countries and people in America.
[editline]balls[/editline]
And the differences in their governments, culture, etc.
Afghan is pretty fucking hardcore in comparison.
A poor underfed uneducated opium farmer? Just as much of a stereotype as the American.

I typed out 4 different paragraphs to reply to this. I find it best to just disagree with you.
I am guessing you don't live in America, because we do have our fair share of non office jobs.
Or poppy whatever.

I'm not denying that, nor am I denying the possibility of a ~civil war~.
What I am denying is the possibility that it would accomplish anything, because it would be short-lived.

The Afghanistan war has been going on for nearly a decade, and in a smaller region compared to the entire US.
Accomplish anything? One can't say unless it's done and finished.
Short lived, on the other hand? I highly doubt it.
ok
If you're not going to even respond, why bother posting that?
YES
Does that mean by 18, I can vote to legalize pot AND also have it legal for a better selection of guns in California? Awesome.

I've posted it before, but I still get a laugh out of it.
Cracks me up every time.
The conservatives on the court are on the fucking warpath now that Bush and Co are out of power. Notice the massive heaping of 5-4 party line conservative rulings lately?

The South has all the military bases.
But all the same I'd be more afraid of Alaska.
fuckers have the Alaskan air force. One of the few air forces on the planet that get equipment on par with the USAF.
They had F-22's before anyone.

This isn't a political debate. I don't know why it wasn't 9 straight through. It's an individual right, not for the Supreme Court to decided whether it is or not, merely if the ban was constitutional.

You can't disagree with statistics. :colbert:
The average American is likely to be overweight and doesn't hold a strenuous job.
Where Afghanistan has been unstable for decades, they have a lower population of elderly and live in tougher conditions.
