I doubt I would be able to do anything with a baseball bat.
It's about who has the bigger gun
Haha what? You need to seriously go look back at history.
Has the US ever tried to oppress it's citizens to the point where an armed conflict occured? Trust me, when you say that "Those guns are to fight their government!" it's actually going to be used to rape, loot, riot, and kill cops. Nobody is going to charge the capital building and shoot up some senators.
Not really. I drove all the way from southern CA all the way to Arizona for hunting.
Leave it in the arizona game wardens office.
Somebody robs my house, I'm not going to shoot them. I'm not a trigger happy redneck.
Protecting your property, or even your life, doesn't make you trigger happy. You'd be using the gun for a good reason. Have fun dying.
do you have an off button?
lol
Leave it in the arizona game wardens office.
No? It serves as a good self defense weapon as well. Why the hell should I buy a 20-gauge shotgun, only use it for hunting, then, separately buy a handgun when I can just use the shotgun since it's multipurpose?
This is an INDIVIDUAL right, and part of the federal constitution in the Bill of Rights. That means people have the right of it no matter what any government says, whether it be state or federal. Neither state nor federal can ban an individual right. [editline]10:12AM[/editline] Source?
Well to be anal, most laws harsher than federal ones aren't banning guns or violating the right to own one so much as limiting the kind of gun you can posses. If you think limiting it period is unconstitutional then aren't any of the federal limits imposed by the ATF unconstitutional as well?
American Civil War :v:
The second amendment didn't help that, that was 2 already setup militarys. [editline]03:16PM[/editline]
lol No? It serves as a good self defense weapon as well.
no, get a handgun.
Do you know how long a background check takes in virginia? let me help you: 30 minutes. It took me 30 minutes to go out and buy a p226. WITH ammo. Now tell me, why do you need a gun to help protect your home other than a handgun?
I have coyotes. They will attack and kill dogs and cats. I have both. I have no inclination to allow such attacks to be carried out. I also have raccoons, which carry rabies. In the Northern US states there are bears. In Alaska there are Black bears, Brown bears, Polar bears (way north), and the worst of them all are the goddamn moose. Fuckers kill everything they see. Shotguns and rifles are usually necessary to engage such animals. And again, it has nothing to do with home protection in reality. That is just a huge benefit of such laws. And I can buy an AR-15 semi automatic rifle in approximately two minutes. National instant background check! Yay!
That's fucking stupid
No, the stupid thing is entrusting your entire life and absolute power to your government. Governments fall. Governments become corrupt. Look at history, it has happened since the dawn of time. If you ignore the past then you deserve to relive it.
So if I'm to understand, gun laws are now determined only at the federal level-- meaning that we will have uniform weapon laws nationwide? This is honestly a totally unsuspected, but entirely pleasant surprise! Not at all what I was expecting to see in the news this morning, but it's got me feeling quite chipper. I have no POWs, but I fully intend to purchase a handgun and a rifle in the near future, and the possibility of not having to muck about with the differences in gun laws between my current duty station and my home state is a huge relief. If my understanding of this is totally borked, then let me live this lie for at least a few minutes before crushing my hopes.
Protecting your property, or even your life, doesn't make you trigger happy. You'd be using the gun for a good reason. Have fun dying.
there are alternatives to subdue a robber without a gun
Has the US ever tried to oppress it's citizens to the point where an armed conflict occured? You act like everyone who has a gun is going to kill and rape when it's exactly the opposite. The more legally owned guns we have on the street, the safer it is.
The second amendment didn't help that, that was 2 already setup militarys.
there are alternatives to subdue a robber without a gun
Yeah, right. Like I said, have fun dying.
The second amendment didn't help that, that was 2 already setup militarys.
You don't know much about the US Civil War, do you?
there are alternatives to subdue a robber without a gun
Such as?
Yeah, right. Like I said, have fun dying.
Tasers.
Such as?
Lasso.
Somebody robs my house, I'm not going to shoot them. I'm not a trigger happy redneck.
So what would you do, sit there?
there are alternatives to subdue a robber without a gun

You don't know much about the US Civil War, do you?
Tell me, how did it start? between the US military and a band of rebels? or between the US military in the north and the US military in the south? Either way, the MILITARY was being used to fight slavery.
And that's the downfall of the supreme courts decision. different states need different legislation. give the alaskans their precious guns and regulate it differently for every state
So some states have the right to defend themselves more than others now?
You do it every day.
Hardly. We have a flawed system, but there isn't a day that goes by that I don't appreciate the massive legal brick walls which limit my government and what it can tell me to do or not do.
there are alternatives to subdue a robber without a gun
I would like to hear them
And that's the downfall of the supreme courts decision. different states need different legislation. give the alaskans their precious guns and regulate it differently for every state
How about, it's an individual right and you don't regulate it on any level?
So what would you do, sit there?
Yeah, that's pretty much what he's been trying to say throughout this whole thread. That or run towards an armed robber with a bat or taser.
It would
So you think the 2nd Amendment covers all forms of firearms technology, and that was the intent of the founders, despite the technology of their day taking a minute to load and having an accuracy of 50 yards?
It would
Well then fuck the constitution, it's wrong
