This is going to seem an awful thing to say, but I wonder if the father was Saudi. Not to put too fine a point on it, but rich Saudis are notorious worldwide for their irresponsible driving habits.
In what goddamn universe does giving a 13-year old child a supercar to test drive seem like a good idea
...A Mitsubishi Lancer is a supercar now? Even a Lancer Evolution isn't a "supercar". It doesn't even mention if it's an Evo in the article. My mom's manual non-evo Lancer can reach 170 kph no problem, I've hit 200kph in it. On a downhill though. That might count as cheating...
Rikwanto said the accident was caused after Abdul’s friend, Novi, startled him by telling him to slow down. Abdul then applied the brakes too aggressively, which caused him to lose control of the car.
How ironic. It does make sense though. [editline]25th October 2013[/editline]
I wish these cars weren't so rare. They're amazingly cheap (60k~USD) and faster than a Lamborghini.
ha ha ha [editline]25th October 2013[/editline]
He is probably in denial because of the grief of losing his son. No one wants to think that they are responsible for their own child's death, never mind that of seven people. He'll come to terms with it eventually and realise the deaths are on his hands but it isn't fault that he won't take the blame, it is just how the brain deals with traumatic experiences sometimes.
The kid isn't dead though
ha ha ha
Top gear have put one around their track faster than a Lamborghini...
In what goddamn universe does giving a 13-year old child a supercar to test drive seem like a good idea
It's not a supercar, a ferrari 458 italia is a supercar. A mitsubishi lancer isn't. And you'll never own a supercar.
The father of the kid is a super rich celebrity there and apparently he paid the families of the deceased all future educational expenses.
Still a cunt for letting his 13 year old drive with no experience
Top gear have put one around their track faster than a Lamborghini...
Wow, ONE Lamborghini. "Faster than a Lamborghini" implies it can outperform most of them [editline]25th October 2013[/editline]
It's not a supercar, a ferrari 458 italia is a supercar. They just don't boast about it.
Wow, ONE Lamborghini. "Faster than a Lamborghini" implies it can outperform most of them
Well, it's actually two.
Well, it's actually two.
Then I guess we can say "A Nissan can outperform a Ferrari" and not specify with "GT-R" and and some slightly old Ferrari What does that make you believe? To you who understands a bit about cars, this might make sense depending on the models I use. However, someone who doesn't really understand cars and/or thinks all Nissan makes is the Note and the Cube will think you're saying Nissan's cars are faster than Ferrari's cars.
Why do people even think that letting children behind the wheel of any vehicle is a good idea? Personally, if you want to learn to drive, the later the better, since folks can gain some sense as time goes on. Otherwise, there's going to be another statistic in the papers soon.

ban assault cars, No reason to be able go to 100mph+ when there are no roads to go that fast on. THINK OF THE CHILDREN
Im almost 20 and I'm afraid to go over 90mph in ANY car. My A4 can go "160" (pfft nah) but in reality I never want to go more than 90. Ive gone over 90 twice. Once racing a friend (dumb decision, I'm lucky the lights were green) and then on a straight away on a highway after gridlock traffic. Call me a pussy, but I'd rather not have shit like this happen to me or loved ones. Especially in my area where a deer can materialize out of nowhere. < or that
I'd be scared shitless to go faster than 105 in any car and I'm 18. It's a nice car but hell, I'd be afraid to drive it because of how much potential it has. on another note, inb4 "ban carz lul they kill people"
on another note, inb4 "ban carz lul they kill people"
Too late :downs:
In what goddamn universe does giving a 13-year old child a supercar to test drive seem like a good idea
Supercar? whoa dude, it's a 4 door family sedan. [editline]25th October 2013[/editline] The father is a dumbass, but this thread is full of sissies. :v:

So yeah, the Evo very, very fast. (Please note however that in a straight line the Evo would be left behind very quickly.)
i for one blame violent videogames
Im curious, did the dad actually say 'here son drive my lancer, don't go too fast!' Or was he just asleep with his keys where they normally are and his son just took em? Cause then it's entirely the 13 year olds fault for being stupid
well there should be a law, that an adult must supervise your driving when you're underaged when i was 13, and i was driving a car(just moving it) few meters and my dad was watching
In what goddamn universe does giving a 13-year old child a supercar to test drive seem like a good idea
S-S-Supercar? M-Mitsubishi Lancer?
Everyone is thinking it's the Evo, which by all merits kinda' is a supercar.
E-E-Evo? S-S-Supercar? We live in dark times.
So unfair. This kid just ruined 7 people's lives and he's sitting in bed happily. Worst thing is, the father (who's almost entirely to blame) is probably going to get off without any punishment either.
i agree it's unfair but i wouldn't go far as to say something like that only like, crazy murder sociopaths can get something like this off of their heads in such a short amount of time
Wow that's a safe car!
This guy let his child drive the car at 170 kph and somehow it's the government's fault? Must be republican.
This seems like the sort of joke that would be aimed at "liberal" mentalities.... yknow considering far right thinking is all about personal responsibility and the actions of the individual...
Wow that's a safe car!
Lancers are lovely cars, and Mitsubishi in general rarely make true lemons, in my experience. I learnt how to drive in a Galant and I still have a soft spot for that car.
S-S-Supercar? M-Mitsubishi Lancer? E-E-Evo? S-S-Supercar? We live in dark times.
They're sexy as fuck though
well there should be a law, that an adult must supervise your driving when you're underaged when i was 13, and i was driving a car(just moving it) few meters and my dad was watching
it turns out there's already a law that makes it straight up illegal for people underage to drive at all!! we're saved!!
Good thing I would have wanted a tank at that age. Actually wait, I still want it And wait, if I got it, it would probably end far far worse. Never mind.
Fuck Lamborghini, cruising with a tank and getting out of it and random street people going wtf is the best thing.
