People complain about hats; I just started playing the game again after I quit in late 07 (played since beta and it was fun but I had other things) and the game is still golden. Great gameplay, great fun, great strategy, just great EVERYTHING. It's one of the best online FPSs out there. The game was balanced too; all of my weapons were stock, and I was topping the charts. The hats? They really just added to the variety of the game, they made it seem like everyone was different. I love this game.

Also in my opinion the hats are fun and all, but they are taking emphasis from the actual game.
"We added more hats" should be "We added more weapons or a map"

TF2 is made by Valve as a whole, if you've got a problem with their game it's the responsibility of all of them.

He is the lead TF2 developer. He could have stopped the other devs if he wanted to.
Why are you guys so worked up over cosmetic updates? Sure they might change the community, because there are people who actually love these updates, but the core gameplay stays the same and shouldn't affect your experience (unless you're so jealous over a simple virtual representation of a a hat).

Agreed, if anything, all the hats add a shit ton of depth to it. And the feeling whenever a new big update is released is great, there's so much to experience and master.

It's not the hats that's the problem, it's the influx of retards who spend their time trading and shitting up servers rambling on about which hats they have. TF2 used to be a team based shooter, now it's mainly a hat simulator and don't you deny it.

oh wow. that's by far one of the biggest exaggerations i've ever heard about the hat problem. it's a very minor issue that's easily ignored, and if it really upsets you that much then pls just uninstall.

Are you sure you didn't left typed "tr" on the map option of your server browser? Because no server I go has people bragging about hats except for achievement/idle/surf/trading/non-serious servers

Exactly. I mean seriously if you really think the game has been "ruined" (lol), then quit playing. It's as simple as that.
If anything's ruining TF2 it's all the people who sit around and complain about stuff that doesn't matter rather than just fucking off so the people who don't have a stick up their ass can enjoy it.
