they never had that many sold to defeat android which is sold on many more phones. the lawsuits have done absolutely nothing to diminish android as a platform and that wasn't the intention.
The intention is to screw with companies like Samsung, who are affiliated with Android. This isn't an innocent thing that Apple is doing.
http://www.mobilityfeeds.com/mobility-feed/2011/06/10-reasons-why-android-is-slowly-taking-iphone-crown-apple-google.html
I was looking for you to answer me. Not a canned response that contains an article that has nothing on how Android is innovative.
The intention is to screw with companies like Samsung, who are affiliated with Android.
it was more to protect the brand than an attack on android
I was looking for you to answer me. Not a canned response that contains an article that has nothing on how Android is innovative.
I use that for when I get asked that question. It's pretty parallel to how I feel.
no but i don't think apple was suing people because they hate innovation or whatever it was a petty squabble over market technology
Oh, okay, good. I'm sure they love innovation, as long as they own it, or are receiving royalties.
I'm sure they love innovation, as long as they own it, or are receiving royalties.
exactly
they sued most of those people because of trademark/copyright/patent infringement not because of innovation. companies emulating or copying an extremely successful product isn't anything new
The ideas behind tablet computers and smartphones are not new, so why just because Apple was the first company to make popular ones does this mean they somehow exclusively hold the rights to an idea which has been around for a long time? These companies are not copying the technology, they are copying the concept of the tablet PC and creating competition. Apple wants an absolute monopoly and are using their massive reserves of money to stifle all competition in the courtroom rather than by making better products.
These companies are not copying the technology, they are copying the concept of the tablet PC and creating competition. Apple wants an absolute monopoly.
right but obviously apple feels like those particularly diminish the apple brand. they didn't sue all tablet pc manufactures mind you
I wonder if Apple will try using Nvidia Tegra chips? Anyway Samsung make Cortex CPU's which are now found in almost all new Tablets coming from china, and as a re-seller I can safely say they are in high demand.
right but obviously apple feels like those particularly diminish the apple brand. they didn't sue all tablet pc manufactures mind you
True, I wonder why they didn't sue them all?
True, I wonder why they didn't sue them all?
Because Samsung with their Galaxy SII is apple's current biggest threat on the smartphone market.
Because Samsung with their Galaxy SII is apple's current biggest threat on the smartphone market.
It's gaining parity with Apple in some markets. [editline]30th August 2011[/editline] Samsung anyway.
I love how well this article shows that Apple screws the consumer. They plan to release the iPhone 5 soon, while already planning the parts for 6. Meaning that they're holding back better hardware already available to be put in just so they can sell it in a few months for even more.
It's cool I am perfectly with my google nexus made by samsung which can do everything that iphone can do
Don't bite the hand that feeds you!
Samsung just got (potentially) dropped as a supplier. How is that considered winning? I feel sorry for them. Put aside your childish consumer allegiances and realise that on a business level, the only people that can possibly gain from this is Apple.
Unless they fuck up and make horrible processors...one can hope.
they sued most of those people because of trademark/copyright/patent infringement not because of innovation. companies emulating or copying an extremely successful product isn't anything new
As I said in a different thread, Apple sure does copy Braun a lot. But you don't see Braun going "OMFG LET'S SUE THESE FUCKERS!"
That's because Jonathon Ive's greatest influence is Dieter Rams. Watch Objectified, if not just for the fact that it is very entertaining and artsy. Personally, I don't really see much similarity in the first and last of those. The rest are striking though. Hey, imitation is the greatest form of flattery, and Braun (thus Apple) has made some very aesthetically pleasing products.
Hey, imitation is the greatest form of flattery
Guess Apple doesn't like to be flattered, or at-least that would make sense with all those lawsuits they put out. Even when most of them are so goddamn vague it's hilarious (in a bad way)
Hey, imitation is the greatest form of flattery, and Braun (thus Apple) has made some very aesthetically pleasing products.
Imitation is also the greatest form of revenue for patent lawyers. On topic though, I saw this coming for some time. Seems either Jobs didn't want to do it or this was a new decision entirely, but it was gonna happen. Regardless, I think Samsung will be just fine. Apple may be all "valuable" and crap on the market, but they cover only a handful of industries compared to samsung. This is like the neighborhood lemonade stand cutting ties with the lemon farm down the road because the lemon farm started making its own lemonade but lets you use their lemons cause they know you like selling lemonade.
No Jobs and they lost a large supplier? I forsee a very unstable future for Apple.
No Jobs and they lost a large supplier? I forsee a very unstable future for Apple.
Indeed, I'm sure the other company they considered switching to last time had a problem with a high amount of defective processors coming off the production line.
As I read the thread title this began playing in my head:
