Zelda Williams leaves Twitter after people abuse her
I understand, but it is not solely a matter of "you'd only say that since you haven't endured that abuse." Many celebrities have managed fine without immortalizing these douchebags as they likely have some form of a pre-regulatory plan in place when it comes to posting live posts, and she should look into that instead of giving them fame.
This is extremely common. If you don't think any families were trolled in the past following celebrity deaths you are very deeply mistaken, the difference is that they were rightfully assigned as background noise. She chose not too and will suffer.
The WBC posts the most vile shit and yet no celebrities respond to them, and yet she decided to respond to nameless accounts instead. If you are a public figure, you will always induce the wrath of the internet upon death because they automatically try to compensate for the fact their message will unlikely be seen so they post the most vile extremist and attractive shit possible, and the fact they already assume your self-esteem is infinite and nothing can "touch you" for being so famous they go full force in disgust.
Even though that's her dad, she should not take the attacks personally, but rather as a "Let's troll the celebrity because they're famous"
I like how you're focusing on her when the news outlets reporting this have given them far more attention than her Twitter account.
What, are we not allowed to
no i just hate that there's some line somewhere in these peoples heads where it's OK to be abusive
Sadistic and barbaric behaviour. People will never change...
People change, the internet does not.
Wrong on all levels.
RIP R.W
"Wow her dad died, what a fucking loser lol"
What is wrong with people
I think the more important part is that they're twisting his death to make it look like it's her fault, that he took his life, and she has his blood on her hands. What's more scaring really "Your dad died, lol" or, "Your dad died because of you".
Either way they're pricks, and only one can imagine what that has done to the poor lass.
Seriously? What a bunch of cocksuckers. Honestly now.
Took you a day to come up with a response and it doesn't make sense.
You're funny, stay a while.
Yeah. I sat in front of my screen, scratching my head, trying to think really hard, but all I could come up with is nonsense, that isn't even worthy of a thought.
I tried to show you my logic. But you're superior brain only saw the ramblings of a child.
I tried to understand your logic. But it's clearly too hard for my feeble mind to grasp.
And even this response right now is giving me trouble. I've been writing it for what feels like forever. And it's probably gobbledygook to you, because it's sooooo dumb.

Well /v/ wanted to make her a card but didn't, don't know about the rest of the 'chan.
I find fun in griefing various games and trolling horny people/roleplaying bronies on Omegle, but I would seriously never go "haha your dad is dead" to some poor god damn girl. This is way past awful. Sending her gore images? Fuck off to hell man :(
This is fucking stupid. I hope these trolls get what should be coming for them. Like getting doxed and trolled themselves. They don't deserve a nice life. They deserve shit fury and hell.
If somebody did this to me/does this to me when my parents someday die, I wouldn't stop harassing those trolls back until they were hanging from a fucking tree.
Edit: accidentally said what I wanted to say twice
Griefing in games, really? Unless you're doing it in a creative way, you're just lame and awful. I.E You destroy people's hard work in minecraft.

He/she is talking down to people because they deserve it, they'll laugh at some people getting abused on the internet, and get upset at another. It's pretty hypocritical.

Why is this getting rated disagree? It depends what boards you go on to. I haven't seen /tg/ (Traditional games, think roleplays and board games) call to dox someone and send them pizza. It's /b/ and /pol/ that do that really. And those boards even still have some good content on them.
okay /pol/ is irredeemable. But uhh, /b/ can be funny at least.
Also even if you're a brony stay the fuck away from /mlp/, it's pretty much a containment board.

I'm criticizing Shadaez for making a dumb generalization and some pointless snipe, which you defend because everyone "deserves it," and then turn around and say that a whole group of people shouldn't be generalized.
I have nothing further to add.

It's safe to say, I highly doubt 4chan has anything to do with the terrible humans going after her. If so, they're newfags trying to fit in, completely missing the point of 4chan.
Contact police, contact Twitter, get IPs, and if in US, sue for harassment and emotional damage. Seriously, if there's ever a reason for doxing, it's shit like this. Locate the people who do it and get em. No one deserves this shit.
Why is there is a big delineation between people and the internet? It's just fucking horrible people full stop.
The same excuse when people say, "they were nice people until they got drunk". Alcohol removes all inhibitions and control revealing the true self. I see it as the same thing with anonymity, they're both pricks and should spend a night in lock up like most of the pissed idiots in "town" on a "night out for fun".
shes back on twitter and twitter said they're gonna update their policies iirc
Civility is dead.
Thus is the price of anonymity

I hope they IP ban the people that were harassing her.

Yeah huh who would have known that the daughter of a well known celebrity would actually have higher media coverage, more people against her, and more supporting her.
Of course people are going to be more vocal when there's more people.

Stop it
relax
they are shitty people sure but saying you would harass them back until they hang from a tree is just as bad if not worse
It's best to ignore them, they aren't worth giving a second of attention.
The issue is that ignoring can't work on the internet, hell it doesn't work in real life.
People constantly talk about ignoring the abuse but not giving the bullies a reaction, infuriates and makes things worse. Its better to attack them, say some crazy shit and then get suspended for a week.
Well I did say computer and not twitter..
Assholes exist, being upset on FP won't make them go away lol. When people started talkin' some mad smack(read: what you correct me with) she should of just turned her computer off, I'm sure nobody is expecting her to answer emails and such in times like this. She's famous(ish), this happens. I'm not trying to justify assholes at all, but they're happy that she's upset and that you're all butthurt about them. If she just sat tight, chilled for a bit and waited til it blowed over, she would've been in a better place. :v:

If you bothered reading the thread you'd realize that this has been addressed already. More than once if I'm not mistaken because others don't bother reading either.
Whenever I mention the fact that I've been cyberbullied, a lot of people tend to laugh. In some ways, I can side with them because the word itself is stupid, a lot of people that try to explain and expose cyberbulling are stupid (cue the retarded stock photos), and the concept of cyberbullying is almost ridiculous in itself: I mean you can just shut the computer off, right?
Well, back in elementary school, I was being bullied non-stop in real life, and I would escape into my computer the second I'd get home. That escape has done a lot of good things, including sparking interests that would eventually turn into career choices. However, it's also exposed me to a lot of just terrible things and I think actually led to some of the depression and self-esteem issues I would have later in life. It was not only because it was also a big-time source of bullying, but because it made me feel trapped without a truly safe escape. Anywhere I went I was lashed at for anything and everything, and as a fifth grader I definitely wasn't prepared for any of that heat.
In elementary school I was being bullied and hated by everyone (including the teacher), and I'd return home to go on the internet to be yelled at and told to commit suicide. So, the answer is to shut off the computer, right? Okay, then what? Go outside? Sit in solitary confinement? Expose myself to no one?
For one thing, it's 120 degree weather outside during the summertime in Vegas. The other thing is that not everyone on the internet is full of terrible people. So I kept going, learning the in and outs of Photoshop, music production, video production, and web design with the few cool people I encountered on the internet while putting up with the same bullshit that I got in school but worse. And it persisted throughout middle school as well.
The way I see Zelda right now isn't completely the same, but think about it: She can't escape her father's death. She's mourning. She's a celebrity, so it's not like she can go outside and enjoy the world. She's getting pestered by the world for her father. And then she jumps on the phone and boom, someone's sending her pictures of dead people.
But that's cool because she can just turn off the phone, right? Well, you can't turn off dickheads.
I will say this though - I'm a stronger and waaaaaaay more sensible person now. The internet has something real life doesn't: anonymity. And because of that anonymity it makes people's actions and hatred on the internet far more severe. For that reason, I'd be shutting off everything and trying to block out the world as much as I could because I just don't want to deal with just truly raw people. That's why I agreed with one of Starpluck's post - I'm not blaming her, but I am saying that she fed their fire and she should have just let loose from people for a while. She's a celebrity and should be expecting idiots. It isn't excusable, but it is expected.

I think it's totally okay to be displeased with the fact that people are able to be hateful with the benefits of anonymity on the internet. I don't think we should be feeding trolls but we should recognize that there is a huge problem on the internet.
Some people aren't aware of the fact that these kinds of people exist, and they aren't prepared to toughen up for the terrible people of the internet. This is different than "being mean". This is a whole other level of abuse.

That's some intense shitposting. Do you think it's possible to just "sit back and chill" after losing a loved one? Words hurt, even on the internet sometimes especially when you are in such a traumatised state.

Broad painstrokes get the fence painted quickly. I doubt shadaez literally meant everybody is a hypocrite.
Here's an example
http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1416429
A majority of people in that thread found people calling that streamer mean shit because they dislike who she is, or just don't care.
But now that it's a famous person who's gone through loss, it's all the sudden bad?
