That's horrible, the fuck is wrong with Microsoft?
I'm gonna side with Microsoft here and say that the kid probably cheated.
He then lied because maybe he happens to be autistic and would have a hard time admitting it (especially now).
The only one who can have proof here is Microsoft, and they seem to have it.

It's just them saying, "WE'RE RIGHT YOU'RE WRONG, DEAL WITH IT." Like they always do.
Microsoft is just getting worse. They will let the TF2 Xbox version get a couple of free updates, and now banning autistic people with high gamerscore? No wonder valve is getting support from PS3.
I think that's more to do with the fact that they now have a team to work on proprietary systems like Mac and PS3, not because they want to go with Sony over Microsoft. Remember, Gabe was a big employee at Microsoft.
In 2007, Newell openly expressed his displeasure over developing his software for gaming consoles, particularly the Playstation 3. In regard to the system, Newell was once quoted as claiming that developing processes for the console in general was "a waste of everybody's time" and "a disaster on many levels ... I'd say, even at this late date, they should just cancel it and do a do over. Just say, 'This was a horrible disaster and we're sorry and we're going to stop selling this and stop trying to convince people to develop for it'."

They're never wrong, just like Valve and their VAC system!
(Except when they are)
The difference is that VAC actually detects cheating. By the sounds of it the xbox live anti cheat is based on detecting people doing very well and flagging them as abnormal.
It's just them saying, "WE'RE RIGHT YOU'RE WRONG, DEAL WITH IT." Like they always do.
If a Microsoft official says he looked into it, and under public pressure, he's probably right.
If a Microsoft official says he looked into it, and under public pressure, he's probably right.
I've had issues with Microsoft numerous times, all of them ended with them being "WE ARE RIGHT, YOU ARE WRONG."
It's just them saying, "WE'RE RIGHT YOU'RE WRONG, DEAL WITH IT." Like they always do.
Well they are probably right, the kid and his mom are wrong, and they should deal with it.
I've had issues with Microsoft numerous times, all of them ended with them being "WE ARE RIGHT, YOU ARE WRONG."
Because, you know, there's no possible way they're actually right.
Because, you know, there's no possible way they're actually right.
They always think the answer is something only they can figure out is one of my issues with them. They don't even have an automated way to find cheaters, they just look at achievements gained, I was flagged as a cheater once, and they DID find out I was right, but they still thought they were right.
How do you actually cheat on a console? Beyond modifying the console (which would result in the xbox being banned from xbox live, not just a user being marked as a cheater) I cannot think of anyway to cheat on a console.

Yes there is such a thing as making a mistake. That doesn't mean every single decision they make is wrong.

Didn't cheat really, just modified his gamerscore/achievement progress.
Bullshit, people say he does just because of his social behaviors, well that's not enough reason.
He also sucked at basic math and was incredible with the highly advanced stuff.
Yes there is such a thing as making a mistake. That doesn't mean every single decision they make is wrong.
Here's why I say this, they said I obtained my achievements "illegally" but I showed them proof and they said "Well OK, you didn't cheat but you're still a cheater, but we see you didn't illegally obtain these so we'll remove this ugly mark." Don't see why they can't do it for this kid.

Because he actually did alter his achievement progress.
It's been confirmed, the bad press surrounding the case forced Microsoft to take a look into it in detail. The kid altered his gamerscore.
Besides, it would have been worse if they were like "OH WELL THIS KID HAS AUTISM, LET'S FEEL BAD FOR HIM AND NOT PUNISH HIM." Of course that would be under the assumption that they knew he was autistic when they banned him (which they didn't).
pressing buttons in a certain sequence isn't skill
What is skill then.

What proof did you show them
:foxnews:Does microsoft have a hatred of children with autism? More at 11:foxnews:
No. But seriously, that's messed up. I feel bad for him :saddowns:
He cheated.
Stephen Toulouse (Director of Policy and Enforcement for Xbox LIVE)
I confirmed that achievements were illegitimately modified on the account and contacted the customer directly w/ specifics
Don't worry, he can't feel emotions anyway.
Even after all of this contradiction, they just ignore it? Pretty lame of Microsoft, but that's no surprise.
He needs to clean that controller too.
So an autistic kid that can get achievements very well and has no knowledge of modding a game system is still dismissive as cheating?
You mean to tell me he can beat games like modern warfare 2 in 3-4 days? by golly he is the best video gamer around! (it took me a week to beat modern warfare 2!)
So an autistic kid that can get achievements very well and has no knowledge of modding a game system is still dismissive as cheating?
Oh so because he's autistic he couldn't possibly be capable of modding his system/account?
"BUT HE'S AUTISTIC, HE'S TOO STUPID TO DO ANYTHING WRONG."
No. Leadership, a skill, is much more complicated than mere video games for example.
Just yell at people and tell them what to do.
~so hard
Don't worry, he can't feel emotions anyway.
Is he a sociopath now?
let's completely throw out the possibility that he could have actually cheated and blame this on microsoft because the boy is autistic
Aiming is
Console games have autoaim. There's a reason MS canned the PC vs Xbox project you know.
I've read up on Xbox bans and they only occur when external programs are detected. If a child has an above average gamerscore MS won't even consider banning them. He hacked and that is that.
It's obviously a sign he should get a ps3.
They don't have any control over being autistic, so why the fuck would you punish them for something they didn't do.
True, but the parents know what they're unleashing into the world and don't do anything about it. Why should we have to put up with autistic people because of irresponsible parents?
