Summary: Destiny was a disappointment and the fact that it's always online (Playstation + at that) is irritating. I mean seriously, I have more interaction with the floorboards beneath my feet right now than I ever had with other players.
from what I understand you can play the game (still always online) without ps+/xblive, but are restricted from joining fireteam parties and playing multiplayer (but you can still see and interact with other players in the open world). MP is a huge draw for playability (what game doesn't really focus on that being the replayability portion of 'endgame', and for story junk lots of people swear by the fact you need to get the expansions to experience a bit more oomph.
At the moment pre-ordering the new expansion (legendary edition) will grant people the base game and two previous expansions, for a decent price. it'd be worth it at this point if you at least liked the gunplay and wanted more out of the game's presentation, even if you have the base game
I recently got it under that deal and it really does seem to pick up after you get into the expansion stuff, but I haven't exactly reached endgame for any of the segments. The story bits were neat but boiled down to run-and-gun hallway shootin' with a disembodied voice telling you to walk a certain direction. Halo did this, but levels were designed entirely around the story, instead of being recycle-bait open world tunnels.

What better way to further strengthen the possibilities of space wizzards by having a wizzard voice the bot voice in the game.
Yeah, there's John Dimaggio and Nathan Fillion in the game, but you'd never know because they was played as NPC's in the tower. Really good actors but bad places to put them in.
Dimaggio is a great voice actor, shame he has such a minor role.

Going for a big name voice on the ghost was a colossal mistake and waste of money. Not a single of the new content added in expansions featured any new ghost lines save for what was presumably a reused one. And that's with out mentioning that while Dinklage is a good voice actor he was blatantly phoning it in in several places.
They literally had to resort to expressing what the ghost was thinking in item and quest descriptions.

Damn, that's cool. His accent really drives up the whole 'mafioso' feel that people forget about the Joker sometimes.
I hope we eventually reach the video game equivalent of the one scene in Gundam Wing where every character is voiced by the dude that did Duo's voice. :v:
This sounds hilarious, so I'm trying to look this up. Do you have a video or remember what episode this was?
no way to make "that wizard came from the moon" sound good really
destiny has garbage writing and no story
I don't understand why people hated on Dinklage when he was given absolutely nothing to work with. Of course he's not going to sound enthusiastic, going from game of thrones to destiny.
replacing voice actors wont make the game any better lol
they're doing this because they need a voice actor if they are going to continue making content, I don't see why you would even bother saying something as dumb as this
theyre actually rebuilding the game from the ground up with the new expansion, but if people don't want to buy what should have been in the base game, that's totally fine. but don't make ignorant ass comments like this when they really are changing everything for the better

that line was only in the game during the alpha, players told bungie how terrible it was and they removed it, its wasn't included in launch destiny

A lot of people have some weird fanaticism to Destiny, believing Bungie can do no wrong. Honestly I think I'd be pretty bored in voicing if I had to tell the player 20 times that they have to defend the door while it opens.
replacing voice actors wont make the game any better lol
Who said that it will make the game better
They're just doing it so it doesn't seem weird when the voice just changes in the Taken King

Even more upsetting was that they got Bill fuckin' Nighy to voice "The Speaker," and they gave him maybe a page of dialogue, pretty much none of which is utilized well. And they gave him this phenomenally irritating piece:
"I could tell you of the great battle, centuries ago; how the Traveller was crippled. I could tell you of the power of The Darkness, its ancient enemy. There are many tales, told throughout the City to frighten children. Lately, those tales have stopped...now, the children are frightened anyway."
Bungie, don't allude to this amazing lore and then just not do anything with it.

That's one of my largest complaints against Destiny, they don't explain anything that happened before the start of the game in depth like what exactly happened during the "Collapse" or what happened in that "Great Battle" and how the Darkness crippled the Traveller. I want to know more about what we're fighting, particularly the Fallen.

Haha you have no idea, spend 5 minutes on the Destiny reddit and you'll realize that nearly 99% of Players have TONS of complaints about Bungee and the way Destiny was made. I honestly have never met a dedicated Destiny player that said that the game was flawless, basically how about you get to know a little bit about the community before you start talking garbage.
Honestly, I don't blame them for redubbing everything. Just listen to TF2. Half of the lines don't sound a thing like the original performance.

Kinda jumped ship with the entire game and community after I hit the grinding part. I was mainly going off by the people I see on Facepunch rather then reddit or another hub because I don't browse those.

honestly I always liked that line
and I had no problem with dinklebot, a lot of his emotion was displayed visually, but I think it's just me that thinks that
destinys big narrative problem is that they forgot to put the narrative in the game and put it in the grimoire instead

That line probably wouldn't have irritated me as much had they not followed it up later with "I don't even have time to explain why I don't have time to explain."
It's like...there's so much cool stuff they could be talking about but instead it's all cryptic and alluded to. I don't mind reading up on lore (I've read Mass Effect's codex in its entirety at least 5 times), but give me SOMETHING.

Yeah I wish the story was in the game, I JUST started reading the grimioire and the lore is really well written and thought out...they just need to include it in the game next time. Like why are there different Vex in the Vault of Glass? What do the weird buffs mean when you're fighting Atheon? So, who is Ir Yut and why are they importsnt? Shit like that should be included in the game already instead of expecting you to get the knowledge from the grimoire.

Yeah, there's so much information in there you'd never know unless you looked. Half of it is stuff any other game would have had npcs say to you in missions. Hell, Cayde-6, the Hunter Vanguard, tells you he bet 1000 glimmer on you dying in the black garden. Except he only tells you in the grimoire entry for the mission before it, not actually IN that mission. It's weird.

Batman Arkham City, Origins, and Knight have all of them in it.
Blum voices thugs/Croc in City and probably Knight when that DLC comes out/Electrocutioner in Origins , Baker Two-Face/Robin in City/Joker in Origins/[sp]Red Hood and The Arkham Knight[/sp] , and Nolan North as Penguin and thugs in all of three/Black Mask in City .

overpriced if you had already bought everything, sure, but it's a great deal if you're looking to pick it up in the first place. Hell, with the alterations happening it's probably way more worth the original prices finally
if you get the legendary edition of the new expansion ($80), you get the base game and two other expansions along with it. (the expansions had added much needed content that most people will agree are worth. $20/pop for the whole shebang, WITH the new xpac's revisionary updates from the get-go. Great time to hop in if you're a fan of halo-esque shootin'

as I said before I don't know where people are getting the idea that getting a new voice actor is bungie saying "this is how were gonna fix the game guys!"
this is only a small part of an almost complete overhaul of the games systems as well as doubling the content of the base game
Good thing they got that thing that bothered fucking nobody
Maybe now they can work on making their dlcs not a blatant scam
