Whenever I finish loading a map, the game crashes, and I get an error message saying "Fatal Signal 11: Segmentation Violation." What could I do to fix this?
I introduced my two friends to this, too, and we've already played a ton.
This is great. :v:
Looks pretty cool, but hot damn these guys need a better animator.
This actually gave me wood.
The cube engine is awesome!
Of course I only used it for map editing but still, it's a great engine none the less.
Good thing this isnt built on that shitty engine.

Actually it is, it says it right on the homepage.

I thought it was based on Quake 3. Looks like it.
Sauerbraten still looks better and has more quake style gameplay
Hopefully this will be refined and could be the next Quake 3

Sauerbratens editor sucks though.

I use it to my advantage to drown other player's flying bases in lava.
I'll take 20.
Hey, does anyone know how to work the editor? So far I have only been able to get into editor mode and spawn various forms of water, lava, and glass. Any one know how to change textures, add some sort of sky?
bad graphics? MAKE THEM BETTER ITS OPEN SOURCE
Don't we have enough of these face-paced open source shooters? :saddowns:
We already have Alien Arena, OpenArena, Nexuiz, it's all the same shit..
Warsow!

They dont look bad you fucking console gamer.
I'm sorry but this looks like absolute garbage.
Customizeability doesn't mean shit when the core gameplay looks and feels bad. It also doesn't help that the combat looks extremely generic too.

The gameplay is great and good graphics don't make a game decent.
This game needs more sounds for multikill etc

I never said they did. Don't confuse graphics with art design.
One of the problems with the game is that the combat looks extremely weak, the guns look weird and sound empty. It also tries to compensate by adding copious amounts of hyper-chromatic effects that just end up over-loading your senses, leaving you unable to pick up the finer details in the tactical situation (if there are any), making the gameplay conducive to only the simplest forms of running-and-gunning 90% of the time. Another problem is that the animations are stiff (lol not even; half of the gameplay videos on YouTube show the player models as colored-fucking-blocks). The end result is tawdry, yet has nothing to do with technological limitations, rather just by plain, poor art design.
Honestly, Facepunch, I thought you had better taste than this.

Whilst I agree nothing of that has anything to do with how good the game is.
Also the whole point of the game is that it IS a running and gunning game. Not a tactical strategy shooter game.
nothing of that has anything to do with how good the game is.
It does when the game's a generic shooter. MW2 is a pure run-and-gun game, but at least it's polished - if a game's just going to have mindless shooter action, it should at least be pleasing to look at.
ArmA (it being a military sim not withstanding) can get away with this; it has a relatively large degree of depth in its gameplay, so aesthetics don't matter as much.

Too bad ARMA II is up there with Crysis and Battlefield 3 in terms of graphics anyway.

It wasn't the best example. Pardon me.
But aside from textural/graphical quality, ArmA 1 doesn't have the most immersive atmosphere: the clunky animations/weapons handling and robotic voices partially detract from it. But that's not as much of an issue when the main focus is on the gameplay.
It has the worst weapons sounds ever but somehow managed to keep me playing until 5 in the morning.
If they improved the visuals and sounds this game could really turn into something.

Donate so they can hire someone who actually can model...
Whats with the sounds? I can't hear anything besides music and jump pads.
