Pranks? What? Team Four Star is the group that did that 'extra nonsense but still actually follows the plot' fandub of the entire DBZ series
Please reread what he wrote.
I feel like these are goodbad events. The movement of people speaking out against this and being more aware of it is getting bigger and bigger. Somethings gonna give and Youtube is either going to respond, or a competitor is.
Considering it came up again, it looks like a company filed a false copyright claim and as it's all automated TFS was automatically taken down. Of course thanks to YT's automated copyright system it's down to TFS to dispute it and highlight the fact it's all fair use as their works are transformative (which'll be why it's back up again) but I'd argue there should really be a system in place where at least channels that are targeted by copyright trolls frequently like TFS should at least have a screening process for future claims. That way, YT gets to keep its automated system which saves on manpower requirements but channels that are liable to be targeted a lot have at least some kind of protection.

What we need is this chain of event: [content ID (or Rightsholder) detects and tags video; nothing is done until checked for fair use] => [If Fair Use == True; delete content ID Tag on video; End] => [If Fair Use == False; Does the Stuff Youtube does now]
They have their own website which is where they upload videos first. It isn't like Youtube going down is going to prevent you from watching their videos. Though I wouldn't be surprised is the vast majority of their followers watch them there.
I'm subbing to team four star and others like them that are being unjustly taken down from YouTube. This is ridiculous. Twitter, Facebook, and other social media are our best bet if we're to band together and put a stop to this.
It's very unlikely that Youtube actually delete the data for "terminated" accounts unless they are purging the shit out of it for legal reasons. Deleting data is risky in some systems as there may be some dependencies on that data that either get blown away with it or become orphans and basically useless. Just toggling the account into a disabled state is usually good enough until they can work out what to do with the data for realsies. Basically don't worry about the content for a lot of these accounts that vanish for a bit, it's unlikely it's actually gone and is just in a state that keeps it as hidden as possible until they either contest the termination or let it get eaten.
What possible dependencies would anything have on the data within a channel? If you're purging the entire channel, nothing else should be dependent on it since channels are not static.

Seems like the trend with social sites nowadays is to screw over users.
