if they don't explode, are they really bombs?
or is that not what defines a bomb.
Bury a brick in the bushes behind your school, then call in and tell them you've hidden a bomb around the premises.
How exactly does it damage these AFVs?
Same way AP rounds, meteors and anti tank shells do the business, massive amounts of kinetic energy.l
You have a marines avatar and you needed that explained.
I can see this become a new direction in anti-tank weaponry.
KE = 0.5*m*v^2
Giving an impact energy of 375 kilojoules.
I was just trying to keep it simple so I didn't even consider that.
In real life they'd probably have a larger time to drop or a high u value from the plane diving into it

"Mass Drivers? But those are illegal under interplanetary law!"
And grand pianos too.
REMEMBER ME, EDDIE?!
laser guided concrete bombs, very high tech
explosions are cooler though, but this is good too. At least civvies don't get hurt.
explosions are cool but admit it it's fucking awesome when a tank has just given a whole new meaning to "hull crushed"
laser guided concrete bombs, very high tech
High-tech rock throwing
Haha, I posted about this in one of the threads at the start of this and it got laughed off as being a crazy idea.
IMO its a sensible way to deal with tanks in built up areas.
now i really want guns that shoot little flags with "bam!" written on them
I read that as France Dropping Concorde bombs in Libya and went :wtc:
Then I read it properly and went :wtc:

Of course. Even a more efficient way to deal with tanks would be to hijack the tank and shoot the drivers and drive the tank to your own garage.
They are flattening tanks in cities without blowing them up, thus saving who knows how many lives and homes. On top of that they cost far less than conventional weapons. I like it.
and it means the rebels have more to salvage from the destroyed tanks
and it means the rebels have more to salvage from the destroyed tanks
Exactly, salvaged munitions are good munitions, and the crew inside probably had a few guns too.
It's a good idea. I like the fact their thinking of the civvies. And it's outside-the-box thinking as well.
But as for looks, which looks better:

Instant fox hole.
It's a 2-in-1 weapon.
I heard earlier they were planning on using kinetic bombs, but I always thought it'd be steel or some other metal. A few hundred kilos of concrete certainly works, too.
Who are they fighting, fuckin' Magneto?
so many darn puns in this thread, better than lmao
Who are they fighting, fuckin' Magneto?
No, we're fighting Pro-Gadaffi forces but don't want to injure civies and infrastructure.
No, we're fighting Pro-Gadaffi forces but don't want to injure civies and infrastructure.
Wow. Seriously.
This is actually a good idea. I am also guessing that these are exponentially cheaper than normal bombs.
That's brilliant and awesome and also why we need kinetic penetrator weapons deployed from space.

If it's not worth overdoing, it's not worth doing ?
Hopefully Gaddafi Can get around this and still beat the rebels.
Sniper bombs, France appears to have finally gotten some military win. nice.

It's a hunk of concrete falling from the sky. How hard can it be if you are on foot?

France has a great military, the surrender jokes are stupid
