• Australian professor forecasts extinction of humanity (Because of Global Warming)

Bombing it is the worst idea ever. Imagine a bullet flying towards you, and you inexplicably cut it in half with a sword like in the movies. You now have the massive issue of two chunks of lead moving at the same speed, and coming for your face. Lasers are what we need to push it out the trajectory it sits in.
This bloke needs to study other things than microbiology before he comes with claims like this.
well, shit Jedadiah... an iceage is when the world freezes partially over, the poles cover greater landmasses and we all freeze our asses off north of Florida and Italy.
well shit jedadiah, he starts off about how global warming is fake then he goes on about how earth goes in and out of cycles of ice ages, which might be factual, but it's completely unrelated to global warming and doesn't bolster his argument that global warming is not man-made at all. [editline]11:51AM[/editline]
slow down there, Huck Finn. we're in between ice-ages. our poles are retracted already and that's what's scaring the shit out of everyone... that they then proceed to blame human industry for it is because they don't realize this has happened every thousand years for like ever. it's called mini-warmings and funnily enough, we're on our way into one. you guys do know that in the 1700-1870s we had some of the coldest, cruelest winters we'd seen in a thousand years? from 800-1200 we had the warmest years recorded and then there's the roman warm-period, conveniently at somewhere around 200 B.C. It's, like its big brother (ice age and warmings) a series of action and reaction. it's a cycle, and it always has been. because earths orbit just isn't fixed. I'm getting deeper than i feel like going, but our orbit has a longer pattern besides just circling the sun. some years we pass further away from it (it gets a bit cold) and others, closer (we start crying wolf about CO2). check out historical texts with reference to weather... there's a pattern that tells us how this goes. beyond the "todaye was a fineth weatherth to fucketh" of course. reference to cold and harsh YEARS or warm YEARS. You have this subject in History, Geography and Biology (not sure about that one) during high school... where were you all? stop calling troll or conspiracy theorists and get a grip... This encouraged change doesn't hurt anyone anyway. why not just play along?
co2 levels are a bit high.
Carbon dioxide (CO) has been definitively shown to be a cause of global warming. CO (and methane) are called greenhouse gases because, like greenhouses, visible sunlight passes through, but heat (in the form of infrared radiation) is trapped when it tries to escape into outer space. Complete combustion of a gallon of gasoline produces 19.8 pounds of carbon dioxide. Coal produces 2.8 pounds of carbon dioxide for each pound burned. Natural gas (which is primarily methane) produces 2.75 pounds of carbon dioxide per pound of natural gas.
and to cite my sources: http://www.ccs.neu.edu/home/gene/peakoil/node3.html [editline]12:00PM[/editline]
Iceages will be survived with no effort at all... we'll move a bit south, insulate houses... all that jazz. we're talking massive meteoroid hit. that's where i think we'll fail. the world is just too petty and split to either bomb it out of the way or agree on a human preservation programme. everyone will go "massive egoist mode".
Ice Ages are a bit harder to survive than you imagine, especially with a global population nearing 6.7 billion people. First of all, let's talk breadbaskets. These crop producing areas of the world will be rendered unsuitable for agriculture, and food shortages will follow relatively quickly. Areas suitable for food production will shift unpredictably and dramatically, and humans, even if organized, will not be able to find and establish farmland in newly found breadbaskets fast enough to save some (if not most) of humankind from starvation. Second, ecosystem change is inevitable. How will we deal with these new ecosystems? Oceanic currents will change dramatically, sending species that we depend upon for anything from natural resources to food potentially out of our reach or even to extinction. Weather patterns will change violently, and what was once desert might become forest and vice versa. Earth will be unpredictable. So you see, there are many factors that you have to take into account for something as dramatic as an Ice Age. And dealing with asteroids, the chances that an asteroid will hit Earth are astronomically low, despite what popular media (movies etc.) might tell you. If you really don't believe me, just email and astrophysicist on that Wikiquestion site (forget the name). [editline]12:03PM[/editline]
No, we would survive, the fucking neanerthals achieved it wearing nothing but fucking wolf skins and agriculture. We may be dramatically reduced in number, but we will survive, first world countries have the technology for at least small pockets of people to survive, and hopefully with less of us animals would recover and walk across new ice bridges and we'd have something to hunt. Trust me, if we have evolved the defence mechanisms we already have, we will survive this shit.
Actually, the Neanderthals went extinct because they had shortcomings in the ability to communicate. Their esophagus was shorter, leading the less developed vocal chords. And in those days, teamwork meant survival. You had to take down big game or else you would suffer rabbit starvation even if you had all the small game in the world. And, as I am aware this is a common misconception, Neanderthals were actually stronger and more intelligent than us Homo sapiens sapiens. Just throwing that out there; sometimes you just gotta have luck.
That's the joke
Well to be quite honest, i missed it... [editline]05:17PM[/editline]
This post gave me cancer. And even if a fucking comet hits earth we won't die, we're worse than fucking roaches like that.
And im sorry for your cancer. At least you dont have a worm in your apple :)
An ice-age isn't dramatic. it comes slowly, over thousands of years, stays for thousands of years and then leaves... trust me, we'll adapt no problem. Many people will die... but nature and our future descendants will all forget and have a "so what" relation to it, the same as we do to our past subspecies. so, there may only be 2 billion people living far from the poles... or even less. but we will have adapted and survived no problem. Nature doesn't give a fuck, our genes doesn't give a fuck and don't pull a Bible stunt on me... I'm not immoral, nature is and it is not Tabu to acknowledge that. Oh, and come talk to me again when this warming period ends in 300 years and we revert into a mini ice-age over a period of 5-700 years after that. People, this is natural. it may be that Humans contribute to this and this makes it different, but it's still just an enhanced natural cycle. wake up people, we're coming out of a mini-ice age and entering a warming. I don't oppose the changes we make, they're good, but telling us that we're the exclusive reason is as stupid as it gets. this is historical fact and this is what they should tell us... let us think for ourselves instead of this. the fact that they're not putting all the facts on the table is why we all think the opposite camp is fucking idiots. we may be contributors and this may cause us a shitstorm that we should prevent. but History speaks for itself and we may be panicking just a bit too much here. I think people who believe in global warming and ignore history to be morons... they find me to be a careless fuck for not seeing "the truth". The informants fucked up and this is more up to opinion and how much you're willing to study and what you study than it relies on cold facts. Fact is, this has happened many times and we can do nothing but expect it to be no worse this time. that's what i will stick to. i will go along with the environmental changes though because it is needed, there's nothing wrong with it and it will leave a better world for the future. Everytime someone finds proof, someone finds just as valid opposing proof. Then there are the general Populace on both sides who just spew bullshit. Believe what you want, follow the facts and proof that you want... I'm fucked.. i believe one but follow the other... because it's better overall.

There has never been proof either way for any deity, now lets not start another fucking religious argument as much as I love them , on facepunch they get no where.
There has never been proof either way for any deity, now lets not start another fucking religious argument as much as I love them , on facepunch they get no where.
Religious arguments FOR THE WIN!
100 years is a bit excessive, don't you think? A few millennia would be much more feasable.
hate to break it to you, mr. dumbass austrailian proffessor, humanity IS NOT going to die, we're very hard to kill
Global warming is bullshit or at least not as big as what they claim.
Global warming is bullshit or at least not as big as what they claim.
No it's very much real.
Arrrgh fucking Australia I hate you.
I don't know why, but as soon as I see the XD thing I rage.
:saddowns: l
Hahaha, no.
The fundamental idea behind global warming makes sense. Dense gas goes into the atmosphere, traps in heat, things get hot. More dense gas, the hotter. Less dense gas, the colder.
I want to ban Australia from doing/saying stupid shit.
The island is gonna sink, fuck, we have to go back Kate!
And here comes the protests to ban extinction.
I've never heard of anything like this before! Oh no! A Russian professor also predicted the invasion of the U.S.A. around this time of the year! :downs:
I've never heard of anything like this before! Oh no! A Russian professor also predicted the invasion of the U.S.A. around this time of the year! :downs:
Who was going to invade the US? Russia?
Atlantis is gonna destroy the USA for flooding their city a thousand years ago!
Australians should be worrying about their more pressing problems, like their monstrous spiders, and monstrous government.
The two are connected.
Who was going to invade the US? Russia?
Yeah, that's what the guy was saying. And there would be a huge civil war and parts of the U.S. would go to different countries.
This guy's a kook.
Yeah, that's what the guy was saying. And there would be a huge civil war and parts of the U.S. would go to different countries.
not to mention that Los Angeles will break away from Mainland US because of herecy and evil. then it's up to this guy: [IMG_thumb]http://gamersdigart.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/solid_snake_by_kandoken.jpg[/IMG_thumb] oh, wait... this guy: [IMG_thumb]http://meltyourfaceoff.files.wordpress.com/2008/05/200637_173565_1_024.jpg[/IMG_thumb] to save the world...
The Sun Herald is an ass of a company.
ahahahahaha XD wtf>!? it doesnt work like that XD whoever rated me dumb... is dumb. :smug: you don't just 'ban global warming'
You could probably make a fucking box universe right about now.
I've never heard of anything like this before! Oh no! A Russian professor also predicted the invasion of the U.S.A. around this time of the year! :downs:
In Soviet Russia, weed smokes YOU!
