Consider the fact that Kevin's speech was 24 condensed minutes talking about how awesome he is, and that just summed things up really. No matter how you spin it, Rudd was always a dominant, controlling, megalomaniac who, while popular with the people, wasn't popular with his party. That tells a lot about the way Kevin conducted himself in office.
In my mind, as much as I'm not jumping for joy at the thought of Abbott being our PM, Kevin wouldn't have ridden on his promise of gay marriage and the NBN. It was also obvious that the Coalition was going to win. People were angry and wanted change. That's democracy for you. I don't like it as much as the next person, but Australia will have to take a bite of the shit sandwich and bare through it.
If you're really going to stick to your guns and really think that Labor had a chance in hell of securing majority seats, let alone a minority government, then you're delusional. That's all there is to it.
Rudd was a shit, became obvious as soon as he was in office. Unfortunately politics is a shit game and there's few any better.
His promise on gay marriage would've been legit though, he'd allow a vote within his party and Abbott wouldn't, and it'd inevitably fail. It was a crap promise to start with.

Look, I get that. I mean, I can't say I'm overly happy and overjoyed about the result, but despite their faults, I cannot say that the Liberal party is out to deliberately destroy or ruin Australia. And I cannot say the same about the Labor party.
Frankly, getting upset about things like this is not worth it. We voted, the party with the most votes won.
Personally, I believe the best thing that can be done with politicians would be to hook them up to a turbine and use the hot air to generate electricity.
no amount of arguing can change the outcome of the election. the liberal voters make fools of themselves, and come next election they'll all know they made the wrong choice this one. that's their only redemption
Just curious Rusty, and I'm not trying to be condescending or anything, but how did you feel about the Labor party constantly switching leaders and undermining the value opinion of the Australian population? Because that's the general gist I get why the Coalition won this election.

Agreed, the Liberal party is pretty damn unified, while Labor were chaotically disorganised. I mean, in Barker, the man who said Labor wouldn't run a candidate ended up running as candidate for Barker.
I really hope they get their act together.

We all treat it more like a Grand Final than we want to, doomsaying when even looking at things rationally it's only kinda crappy.
I don't really mind though, it's all a game we can get enjoyment out of and just like in a court things function smoother when everyone takes a clear side and argues their case to their fullest.
bye bye cool internet+equal marriage rights, because here come PM Cuntlips!
I can't wait for all of the liberal supporters to start complaining about the liberals and switch to supporting labor.
well thats what you get when it comes to liberal, unified and on track, labour is off the rails.
Just wait until next election and the impatient majority will be pushing for change again
I don't think that'll be enough to fix the damage.

Yeah, it's interesting to watch, have a bit of fun and all that. I mean, to me, it wasn't so much voting day as it was "Beer and Lasagna Day". The voting booth I went to didn't have a sausage sizzle going, but...
Call me optimistic, but I'm going to reserve judgement for the Coalition this run until a year or so. I'm thinking there's more than we quite possibly know at this time.
I hope that suggested internet filter thing that was mentioned in another thread doesn't happen either btw
I don't think that'll be enough to fix the damage.
well the damage labour has given us wont be fixed by then it will take a long time but at least we are on track now.

You are quite possibly one of the stupidest individuals I've met on the internet.

It doesn't help that ~75% of the nations media was publishing LNP propaganda.
I hope that suggested internet filter thing that was mentioned in another thread doesn't happen either btw
It'd be political suicide. Australia's too much part of a global network and that kinda ties into the NBN. Despite how expensive it is, we will get it. We have to if we want to keep our economy going.
I hope that suggested internet filter thing that was mentioned in another thread doesn't happen either btw
I don't think they could handle backflipping on it again, never mind Turnbull has been pretty consistently against it (When he actually knows the policy)
I hope that suggested internet filter thing that was mentioned in another thread doesn't happen either btw
The internet filter is a good initiative to help protect children who can too easily be exposed to obscene material online at such young ages. I don't see why anyone wouldn't be in full support of it, it's even opt out.
well the damage labour has given us wont be fixed by then it will take a long time but at least we are on track now.
Have you listened to anyone? We are in one of the best positions out of all the countries in the world.

You take the good with the bad mate. Because of human nature and this kind of process being so fucking complicated, things'll always have some shit on them. But at the end of the day you know that despite that it's still one of the best in the world and you could always have far more shit on it.
well the damage labour has given us wont be fixed by then it will take a long time but at least we are on track now.
Enlighten me. What damage? Provide sources.
And, if I may be so bold as to hope a Liberal voter would take advice from Labor scum like myself, I have heard that holding the shift key while pressing a letter on your keyboard makes the letter a capital, which goes at the beginning of a sentence.

It was denied last time it was attempted because the cost would be huge and it would slow down our already end of life infrastructure.
Have you listened to anyone? We are in one of the best positions out of all the countries in the world.
even if we are in one of these best positions you talk of, this is only because of john howard's infustructure and plans which where in place and comparing our self to every one else and saying that's enough, no reason to do better is silly, we should be better than the standard by a mile.

You can't censor the internet. It's impossible. Only a tech illiterate ignoramus like Tony Abbott would even consider trying to do this.

You need to provide some proof or no one will take you seriously.

True.
I like Turnbull (GASP!).
well the damage labour has given us wont be fixed by then it will take a long time but at least we are on track now.
damage?
you mean the tiny debt we have with a decently moving economy, the nbn which would have set us with one of the fastest internet speeds in the world and the move towards equal rights for gay couples?
Infact, the only thing I dislike about labour was their really shitty knee-jerk asylum seeker policy, I'm not really seeing any "damage".

yes because a video by a bogan is proof.

the nbn is not going to be cancelled
