Not all "rapists" are known for releasing secret documents incriminating a specific government.
They've incriminated a lot of governments, corporations too.
Not all "rapists" are known for releasing secret documents incriminating a specific government.
But since "incriminating a specific government" is not a part of what he is being charged with then that should be legally irrelevant.
Not all "rapists" are known for releasing secret documents incriminating a specific government.
But this is a (minor) rape charge. It should not involve an international arrest warrant. Not to mention the charge has existed for months yet they have only now just decided to pursue him. The cynical part of me can't help but think about all the allegations of the US Government and various US companies trying to pressure Swedish courts into investigating the pirate bay.
Reason I put "rapists" in quotations is because I believe the allegation is a load of shit.
Of course its a load of shit (if what has been said in the media etc is true), I heard yesterday that the allegations were retracted by the supposed victims.
I cannot help but think that now the US Government knows what the full-body scanners feel like.
I appreciate what Assange is doing. He had the balls to throw away an easy life away for the sake of justice and freedom. If only more people would actually interact with society instead of listening to everything governments say.
And the worst part is that many (mostly american citizens) believe this crap.
American: *taking a break from big mac* "Julie-Anne who?"
Oh god the generalizations about americans in this thread are comepletely ridiculous. As an American and everyone that I personally know that is American. Don't fucking care about Assange or Wikileaks. So please stop with these stupid threads.
Seems like bullshit but I wouldn't completely rule it out.
He's developed a god complex and taken his organisation by the horns I think he's going to overstretch and get shot down

I don't get what arresting him will do to stop wikileaks. They can't seize it from him as far as I know as it's not what he is being charged for, and he does not submit the information, so that wouldn't stop it, and he could probably let a friend control it for administrative purpose.
Did you take a break from your Big Mac to say that because then you made my point.
I'm not about to be trolled, but my point is that majority of Americans don't care. The only handful of people that care are the ones that were affected or exploited by the released documents.
I'm not about to be trolled, but my point is that majority of Americans don't care. The only handful of people that care are the ones that were affected or exploited by the released documents.
That's because most americans are ignorant to what is happening. [editline]2nd December 2010[/editline] And I'm living in America right now.

As an American I feel it is my obligation to tell you that it's not that they don't care, it's that they don't know and don't care to know.

I pray for our soldiers lives, but the politicians had the shit coming. In other words fuck them, they got their selves into a mess, it's their responsibility to get their selves out. I won't give a fuck unless they escalate to a war and try to draft me. As for Assange god speed. Although I could careless either way, but eh whatever.
I'd say it's the people's responsibility to hold them to account, not their responsibility to get themselves out of a sentencing.

But in people's minds, Wikileaks = Assange. Assange = Wikileaks. If Assange is arrested and charged then people will interpret that as "Wikileaks did something wrong". At least, that's what they're hoping for.
