A friend of mine is convinced it is a current-gen game that was ported to next-gen, and thinks it will be the disappointment of the year- I doubt it'll be that bad, but I'm glad this thread upped my hopes a bit.
You're trying to say this doesn't look great?

Found a source for 8 player free roam, didn't know that wasn't announced until today.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about
But what it seems like everyone keeps saying is the new stuff coming out is showing the game looking a lot worse and justifying that as the PS4 version just being the console version of the game. And noticeably the new stuff does look a little bit more barren.
I think the demo you showed is great, but why does the recent footage not look so great? What I'm saying is it can't possibly be chalked up simply as "consolified" because the PS4 is actually capable of good looking shit.
That last gif seems really misleading, why compare something from E3 2012 to a random promo video that might be footage from current gen consoles?

I can't vouch for what the game will really look like upon its final release but at the very least the next gen and PC versions will look far better than that Aisha promo.
The Aisha Tyler demo was confirmed to have been pulled from the last gen console build. The PS4 gameplay demo you posted here was what they showed privately at SDCC 2014, and as far as I know the game looked as good then as it did when they first revealed it. HOWEVER, I don't doubt that the PC is getting the highest-end version of Watch_Dogs, simply because this game was built from the ground up on what Ubisoft estimated to be next-gen hardware, which actually ended up being pretty close to what is actually in the PS4 and XB1. I had the chance to speak to a developer at SDCC last year, and he pretty much told me that the game was built from the ground up in the same way a PC exclusive would have been. The game is, for all intents and purposes, a PC game. The game will look just as good (obviously save a few effects and probably anti aliasing) on the new consoles as they do on the PC.
I'm willing to wait until may to determine how awful it looks on consoles :c
