Fucking seriously?
I thought Chrono Cross was pretty fun, soundtrack was great, lacked depth like a motherfucker though. Haven't played it in years though so I can't really judge it all too well.
is there a way to remove the ridiculous sharpening filter in the witcher 2? if so I might give it a shot after hearing so much good stuff about it recently
My biggest problem (with Witcher 2) was all the fucking rolling you had to do to not get wrecked. Luckily the combat mod changes it so parrying is the standard instead of barrel rolling every fight.
Fucking seriously?
Well, MGS4 was really good where it shined, I guess...
Is the first one really not necessary? Been trying to get into the series but just the tutorial section and the first few quests alone are a bit too much for me. Just want to know if I'd be missing out on anything critical plot elements and shit if I just skip to the second.
Play the first one, it's real comfy and the story is fun. I can't even look at the game through nostalgia goggles, I played it for the first time last summer, and beat it again a few months ago.
is there a way to remove the ridiculous sharpening filter in the witcher 2? if so I might give it a shot after hearing so much good stuff about it recently
Yes, but if you do, all the textures look muddy. If you have a beast rig, enabling ubersampling supposedly helps against the sharpening filter.
Let me guess, it's the new citizen kane of videogames?
I don't think you understand what "citizen kane of something" even means.
If you have a beast rig

ubersampling .
Isn't ubersampling basically 32x AA iirc or lower? Cause as far as i know, it can really kill the FPS.
Art is a subjective thing. Yes, same goes for video games. 10/10s don't mean anything if you don't have the exact same taste in games as said journalist, too.
I don't think you understand what "citizen kane of something" even means.
I am referencing to the Last of Us reviews buddy
I started replaying the Witcher 2 the other day and I couldn't work out why I wanted to, I must have heard about the Witcher 3 coming out and completely forgot somehow. Such a great game.
Isn't ubersampling basically 32x AA iirc or lower? Cause as far as i know, it can really kill the FPS.
It completely wrecks my computer that I wouldn't call bad by any standards. Like I said, if he has a beast rig.
Man that's a lot of money, then.
as someone dearly tired of Skyrim at this point looking for a fresh WRPG, do i need to have played the first two Witcher games to fully enjoy the story? this game looks immensely good, and i have the hardware to back up the visuals
Fucking seriously?
MGS4 was amazing. I'm sorry, but it was. I'm speaking as a big fan of the series, but the story (As, obviously, convoluted as fuck as the series is) was amazing, so was the gameplay. Best game ever? Well no, but still. -- Also, is the Witcher 2 any good if I didn't like the first? I really, really didn't like the first one (Played through 90% of it until it bugged out). I want to know if it's much different.

But The Witcher 2 is a good game, albeit a bit long and personally, I find hard to navigate(still haven't beaten it) but very fun and very different game.
as someone dearly tired of Skyrim at this point looking for a fresh WRPG, do i need to have played the first two Witcher games to fully enjoy the story? this game looks immensely good, and i have the hardware to back up the visuals
It's not a direct continuation, each game is it's own self contained story, but with that said, there's still a lot of connecting points, and you can import your save to carry over your choices, so I guess you kind of wont get the full experience, no.
What if I played TW3 first, then played the others then came back to TW3? You think it would do some irreparable harm to the games prior if I did it like that (kinda like how even though the story/atmosphere is better in the first STALKER, if you play the others first you get spoiled for the polished gameplay mechanics/convenience features) or would it be okay I really want to play TW3 but I couldn't get into the first game when i tried, and 2 I haven't really looked into much (except noticing how it looks a bit clunky gameplay wise maybe? At least compared to what I've seen of TW3)
And unlike most other blockbusters, I doubt they've been given money to their retirement plans for this review.
Well deserved. They worked hard on it, made the best game possible. No shortcuts, just hard work. Period. When you put the work in, the commerce follows.
Isn't ubersampling basically 32x AA iirc or lower? Cause as far as i know, it can really kill the FPS.
I think it's a form of SSAA, but a kind of jitter-sample since I remember reading that it renders the scene multiple times.
I highly suggest to read the books
Also they're releasing the day 1 patch to everyone, pirate or not. They want everyone to have the best experience on the game as possible, but ask that you please support them if you enjoy it.
I think the combat suffers because of how janky the game can be at some times. Someone posted a video in the Witcher thread the other day, that sums this up: [vid]http://a.pomf.se/ypgxoy.webm[/vid] It's a game I want to sink myself in and enjoy the immersion, but it's difficult when stuff like this happens all the time in the game. Witcher 3 looks to have resolved this though, so I can't wait.
i still don't get why this is such a big deal to people.
I bought a GTX 970 two weeks ago and got The Witcher 3 for free with it as a promotion. Never really looked at the game before and didn't really care about it either, but now that I'm seeing all these Witcher 3 threads and actually looking into the game some more it looks fun as hell.
i still don't get why this is such a big deal to people.
The issue shown in the video is a less severe case of it, but it gets really annoying in areas like the forest outside flotsam. And it's not a big deal, but when combined with the clumsiness of some of the other stuff in the game, it adds up. - It feels horrible, unnatural and it brings you out of the experience. - In some areas, you're blocked by bushes the height of your knee, and forced to take a massively long route through enemies to get to the same place that you'd be if you could just walk through the bush. - It overall just makes some areas really confusing to navigate. - If this is happening during combat, it can get you killed, and for me, makes fighting in some areas feel very claustrophobic. It's just not a nice feeling to be stopped by a shrub when you're supposed to be this fierce monster killer.

To the point where I stopped noticing it half-way through the first chapter.
I'm pretty sure I got this for free with my GTX 970
Yes, but it is very easy to get used to. To the point where I stopped noticing it half-way through the first chapter.
I disagree. I liked both witcher games so far. Greatly enjoyed them in fact, but both 1 and 2 seriously had immersion crushing elements with getting hung up on geometry. Oddly enough I'm fine with being unable to jump over a 2 inch ledge in top down isometric games like DA:O and NWN.

I barely notice it.
