Apple should lower the cost of everything they sell. Everything.
I like iPods. I like iPhones now that they're not AT&T exclusive (since they're pretty much just iPods with a phone in them). I could probably be OK with Macs if I actually owned one. They just cost way too damn much.
Bring them in line with most other prebuilt prices and it simply becomes a case of "Stable vs Powerful".
This article has a lot of good points. I never thought about Apple that way before...

What's the point of getting a Mac just to run windows on it again because of the lack of games and smaller software selection? you then negate any of the 'apparent' gains of running OSX.
I don't know about you guys but I've never had anyone bitch to me about computer problems ever since everyone in my house has slowly been upgraded to Win7
Debateable. If that was the case, they would of been fucked on defective batteries and leaking cooling systems years ago.
go to http://www.google.com/finance?q=NASDAQ:AAPL and look at their stock price for the last few decades
they're so overvalued it hurts
Apple is not the best company. In later news, the Sun is yellow, and if you look directly at it, you will burn your retinas out.
I know Apple is not the best. While they are good with iPods/Phone/Pad, they have some problems. Some examples are iPhone only for AT&T(until we hear Verizon will now have iPhones, US), the fact that they are suing more companies for patent rights or that the other companies are doing better.
And besides, if you get an Apple computer because you hate windows or PCs, and then install Windows on a Macbook/Mac computer, you just negated any reason you would want a Mac computer. If I wanted to use a Windows computer, I would build one or buy a Win7 Laptop. Not buy a Macbook and install Windows.
This is an opinion piece, not news and I seriously think people should not be posting opinion pieces in the news section.
I have my problems with apple too, my family owns a Mac, but there's no way I would say they're a fantastic company. This article is just bullshit opinions without any evidence to back it up and is in no way news.

I raged all over again
What bugs be about apple in particular Isn't their products, its the people who blindly buy their products claiming that they are the best product in the world and nothing could beat them no matter what.
I hate how schools are joining this bandwagon. Every time I hear about some school getting a new computer lab, it's always Macs being the computer the school goes with.
What's bad about Apple is that Steve Jobs and the marketing team are douche bags. I swear, they must all be from San Francisco ( a European city) and sniff their own farts.
It's sad how much you guys hate a fucking company and its entire userbase for no reason at all other than they make products you don't like
Apple is a genius in marketing. In design, not so much.
Apple is a genius in marketing. In design, not so much.
Their design is more aesthetically appealing than most other tech companies, you have to give them that. They also have great customer support.

Nice to know that something subjective can be stated as a fact.
The design depends on the person looking at it. Personally, I'd sooner have a matte black finish on my products, it looks nice, and is more practical. Aluminium is just needless cost, and has a habit of retaining smudges.

I mean to the general populace. Just like the general populace thinks, say, Megan Fox is attractive but there are people who dislike her looks.

I really hate the price of Macbooks. a $500 PC is 10x better than a macbook in everyway.
And also, an Iphone costs about $8 to manufacture, yet they sell them for about $500 without a plan.
It's sad how much you guys hate a fucking company and its entire userbase for no reason at all other than they make products you don't like
Its because they don't like them and can't afford them by the look of the posts. Facepunch is full of gamers, so most are automatically going with Windows.
Reading the Apple hate here is almost as painful as reading what Apple fanboys comes out with.
I don't hate Apple, I would get an Ipod over an mp3 player, I just hate how rediculous their prices are for what the product does.

An iPhone cost way more than that to manufacture, but that still doesn't justify the selling price.
Macbooks are better at one thing and that's battery life.
Everything else is correct to my knowledge.
Apple’s wealth is built on amazing, game-changing products like the iPod, iPhone, iPad and MacBook. Their ability to innovate has been second to none over the past few years.
Lenovo masterrace.
All glory to the ThinkPad line-up.
(Should've bought one instead of a HP DV7)

How the fuck did you get running Windows on a Mac out of my post?
This marketing scheme doesn't only have Facepunchers in mind. It has the whole fucking world (or at least the part Apple sells things in) in mind. Some people only want a computer that can open Word documents and play YouTube videos. Macs would be perfect for that demographic if they were the same price (or cheaper) as other prebuilts. They're not as easy to fuck up either, because most of the stuff that can fuck the system up is neatly tucked away and you have to really pry at the fucker (and know what you're doing) to touch it.
Whereas with Windows computers, yes, you can do a metric fuckton more. But have you ever noticed how most "help my computer broke" calls are from Windows users? It's because Windows leaves it's more advanced settings out in the open, so Joe Random Average can just go "lol im bored waiting for youtube to load time to click random things" (or more often "What the hell is this?"). Suddenly, Windows is in Latvian and the screen's rotated 90 degrees. Not difficult to fix at all for Facepunchers (except possibly the kids in the GMod section). But for the average man on the street, that's going to bring their ability to use the computer to a screeching halt.
Once again, "Stable vs Powerful". I don't mean stable as in "lol macs nevar crash and dont have virusus :downs:", I mean 200x less likely that it will suddenly be in Latvian with the screen rotated 90 degrees.
The only reason this can't be the case is because Macs are too goddamned expensive.
I hate morons like that, even the cheapest Android phone is so much more capable out of the box.
You are just as low as the Apple fanboys when you say shit like that. It just shows you're an ignorant moron yourself.

Reminds me eerily of Ubuntu.
Gimped down, but perfect for those less technically inclined.
Except you can put that on pretty any new(ish) computer for free.
Heck they're even working on making the installation so easy even my grandmother would be able to-do it.
Only problem is that you'll have to pay for (professional) support, but unless the user is constantly fucking up, it shouldn't be a problem.

I've got a 2008 Lenovo Laptop which I picked up for 80 bucks because the harddrive was broken. Best fucking laptop I've ever had.

Without the Apple logo and shit, and also for less expensive.

You can't compare a pc with a notebook. But i agree it's expensive. Would be nice if it was cheaper. But that would be nice for everything.
