Off to Macrumours, this ought to be fun!
Their design is more aesthetically appealing than most other tech companies, you have to give them that. They also have great customer support.
Someone on facepunch had a story that they had an iPod that broke a week before the warranty ran out, so Apple gave them the run around for a week and said "Oh well"
Yeah GREAT support.

Why would you ever click on a facepunch thread about Apple and expect otherwise?
Only problem is that there will always be these teens and adults who buy these products. There will always be people out there that want the label of Apple.
I don't think that's the case. Apple can and will go out of fashion some day, and when that happens there will be plenty of other gimmicky products to replace the the iphone, ipad etc.
Like the article says, Apple survives largely on the coolness rating of its label, and that can change very quickly.
Someone should walk down to Apple's and HP's office, smack them both in the face and tell them to go together, with Apple's advertising and support, and HP's supreme laptops, they WOULD RULE THE WORLD...of WARCRAFT...no wait Buisness.

Okay, A $1000 laptop from ibuypower is at least 1000x better than a $2000 macbook.

The iBuyPower would break in a week, but yeah we get the point.

Good thing they give you a 1 year warranty then.
Free that is, none of that Apple Care shit.

My school just gets government hand-me-downs. Their pretty nice, actually. And the two teachers that work with the computers aren't stupid and actually know what they're doing. It's nice.

Most of the time, the IT department has no idea what the fuck they are doing.
At my high school, if the IT guy even touched you laptop, it would fuck it completely. When he put it on the school network, I had to format the hard drive because I could not do anything on my computer. And it was not just me, it was everybody

I swear Yahoo commenters are the worst on the internet.

Our public school board started out with brand new macs, then I noticed one day my sister had no mac, my sister told me that they switched to the other. That they were more verstile than the mac.

Everything they make as of a decade ago sells.

No and lolwat?
Do you know for example that all their replacement parts for MacBooks costs 10x of their real value?
Did you know that their customer support aren't allowed to remove viruses on infected MacBooks or even admit that such things exist?
Apple is only good with one thing, marketing, and they will continue to grow as long as people are ready to buy dumb junk for 10x it's real value.
The Mac Pro Tower is a Sexy beast, and I would love to own one.
Actually the whole Mac lineup is amazing, its OS-X that ruins it.
Apple is not trying to advertise to our audience, the build-computer-by-myself audience.
They advertise to the young, the old, and the people who just want their computer to work, damnit.

Yes, let's cite one anecdotal story from the Internet and then accept it as the general rule in all cases.
Here I can do it too:
My sister's friend dropped her iPhone and it cracked the back. She brought it into the Apple store, and got a new one for free.
That must totally be the case for every person, right?

They have an entire section of their retail outlets dedicated to 1 on 1 help for any of their products. If that's not good service I don't know what is.

... which makes their overpricing strategy particularly foul. It's not like there aren't dozens of other retailers that target the same audience with prebuilts at less than half the price of an equivalent Apple product. Windows is extremely stupid at times but it won't magically break down with normal use in any way that OSX couldn't. Same with the hardware.
Reminds me eerily of Ubuntu.
Gimped down, but perfect for those less technically inclined.
Except you can put that on pretty any new(ish) computer for free.
Heck they're even working on making the installation so easy even my grandmother would be able to-do it.
Only problem is that you'll have to pay for (professional) support, but unless the user is constantly fucking up, it shouldn't be a problem.
You can but that still takes more effort than just buying a computer with an OS already loaded. Even after they granny mode the Ubuntu install.

AFAIK Dell and Lenovo sells (or at-least used to) computers preloaded with Ubuntu.
BUT they don't advertise them as aggressively as Apple does with their OSX based computers.
Not to forget Apple's questionable advertisement methods that the average technophobic person eat up raw.
Ya their stock rose so much before the announcement of the iPad, shame I didn't buy.

No Viruses!*

Say what you will about Apple, but they have a damn fine advertising team. Nothing they make is "new" per se (mp3 player, smartphone, tablet computer) but it vastly outpaces the competition in terms of units sold and significance in the public eye. How many people do you know who have an mp3 player that's NOT an iPod?
Just look at iTunes - nearly all popular songs are $1.29, whereas many of the same songs are $.69 or $.99 on Amazon (which can automatically sync to iTunes). However, I'm willing to bet that Amazon doesn't sell half as many mp3s as iTunes does.

...A lot of people, either because they can't afford it or because they aren't idiots and look into their options before buying.

Who the fuck buys music? Oh yeah, idiots, the people who Apple targets anyways.
