Sure, they have lists but they looks of it they're possibly out of date. [editline]21st November 2014[/editline]
Look at the complexity of the passwords, and look at how hard they're trying to craft their image. I'm not buying it.
I will admit my password was pretty stupid
Look at the complexity of the passwords, and look at how hard they're trying to craft their image. I'm not buying it.
Yes they could certainly be lying and trying to get attention but again in my personal opinion when it concerns credit cards you should act unless you know 100% that it's not true. I guess we'll only find out more at this point if they leak more information or if Sony, Microsoft or 2K comment on how large the breach was.
I doubt it. They have over 7 million usernames and passwords. Read the article in full - particularly the halfway point. They also have comcast, twitter, CIA, facebook, EA accounts and credit card data. [editline]21st November 2014[/editline] The above in my post should really be in the OP.
Really, they got CIA info? So can we start betting already when the first of those 'epik haxors' legbeards get hauled out of their parent's basements for a free ticket to prison?
Slightly offtopic, but what's the story behind that group's name being censored on facepunch?
I believe its because last time they were in the news for a DDoS attack, they were controling majority of the Time Servers via packet spoofing in order to launch massive attacks against everyone. (There's a video explaining what they did, I'll edit my post to link it when I find it.) (Jump to about 5:12, which explains what they did in order to attack everything with the Time Servers, as silly as it was.) And they eventually went out to DDoS any site that had their name come up on a google search query. So the name was censored so that Facepunch wouldn't get listed with their name and they'd leave the site alone. Although I might be thinking of the wrong group, there's been a few of these "groups" lately that do this shit.

I'm simply saying that when it concerns credit card information you should always be proactive even if it turns out not to be true.

I showed the list to a friend and he pointed out some of the accounts might actually be fake as PSN requires at least eight characters in a password. [editline]21st November 2014[/editline] oops, turns out they only added the eight character minimum a few years ago
Here's their pastebin that contains the login info. Check to see if your info got leaked.

BioRisk biorisk@live.com
We meet again. :v:

Last I heard most of the key players in the "group" were arrested so I'm wondering how they've managed to pull off another publicity stunt.
Either people are really bad at making passwords, or this was only a dictionary attack
They've targeted a Facepunch user whose a friend of mine before. Went through their Twitter feed briefly and they're super obnoxious/cringy honestly
wow some of these passwords are so terrible.
lol123 noob123 fuckk testing123
if your password is that shitty you are asking to get hacked also what 'troll' group calls themselves "derp"? what a stupid name to call your group
So far, I haven't found my account on there. Perhaps it could be that my password consisted of me smashing my keyboard :v:
The move runs contrary to the group's previous assertions that it did not want to leak customer data -- but the group has decided to change its tactics after finding that its efforts were not being taken seriously.
Oh fuck off. They aren't doing this for the good of anybody but their own egos. I'm fed up of these mouth-breathing basement dwellers forcing me to change my passwords every few weeks just because they feel like going on a power trip.
Shut down PSN for a month again so I can have time to work on my backlog and get a free game too.
https://haveibeenpwned.com/ The sites clean. Just enter your email or username and it searches through pastes and website leaks for the thing you entered. They just added the list to the pastes. Luckily I'm not in there.
Facepunch, you don't take me seriously enough. Here is a small example of what I can do: garry:letmein
Let mein what?
3 MILLION Facebook accounts? This absolutely reeks of bluffing. Considering the complexity of these passwords, these were probably either bruteforced or phished for. A name that immature is usually attached to a person/group that's just as immature, as their actions (obviously) prove.
HA! I'm not there! Take that, you bloody bogans!
I almost wish there were more serious 'hackers' and not some dumb students going "lolol we got ur passwords" Then again, I wish there weren't hackers at all...
Irresponsible folks, it'll bite them in the ass one day.
I want to ask why this keeps happening, but it's probably because these assholes spend their entire lives in basements tapping away at their keyboards stealing peoples information "for the lulz". Leaking innocent peoples info isn't "warning" companies, it's just being a dick.
Especially considering that if some organization has the means to actually do anything with the info they get it most likely doesn't have to hack shit to get it regardless.
What a bunch of autists.

this made me update my psn account that have not used in a long time

If some fatso in his mom's basement can leak that sort of information, that company isn't doing something right. That's called White Hat Hackers or something isn't it? (Then again, idk if this is their complete intention)
He was keen to stress that Derp Trolling means business.
how can you really mean business with a name like that
In hindsight, it just means the company needs to step up their security. Good thing Facepunch censors your password. Look: ••••••••••••
