How did you extract that from what I said? Trump's ego is very fragile, if anything, Elon will be exploiting this weakness, as are many other CEO's.
So is Trump is impossible to work with during his campaign or Trump is an impressionable boy when dealing with other business people? You ever just think that maybe he might be able to conduct business like how business people do typically?
Elon Musk breaking the narrative for some people. Love it. I for one am super happy Musk is on the Trump train to MAGA.
Speaking of narratives... I think Musk is on the "Making the best of a questionable situation" train. It's smart business and I don't fault him for it but I'd hardly count him amongst Trump's admirers when the best thing he can say about Tillerson is that he *might* be excellent. Sounds like trepidation to me.
wtf i hate musk now
So is Trump is impossible to work with during his campaign or Trump is an infantile boy when dealing with other business people? You ever just think that maybe he might be able to conduct business like how business people do typically?
Given that he has claimed responsibility for multiple deals that have nothing to do with him, his constant lying about deals, and how he will literally promote firms that say good things about him, it is unlikely. He is also POTUS, and should not be doing businesses as people do typically, as business is a transfer of value for mutual (or exclusive, in some cases) gains. Any transfer of value would be a breach of trust at best, and flat corruption at worst. Not to mention that trump explicitly mentioned giving tax breaks to specific companies at his own discretion.
Trumps ego would be very easy to exploit if you were in a position of power, I'd feel. "Hey Trump how you doing? That's quite the wall you got planned up.. I really like your hat. Wow, your new Oval Office is really top notch.. say... Isn't it sad that America hasn't been to Mars yet? I hear those Chinese are gearing up to go to the moon..... gee willikers I wish we had a plan to beat them."
that would actually be hilarious trump stumbles his way into a new age of exploration
His reasoning seems pretty solid, so the question becomes instead: Can we trust Rex Tillerson? I could not give you a confident answer to that.
that would actually be hilarious trump stumbles his way into a new age of exploration
Yo trump heard martians were talkin shit about your hands.
Bah another corporate sellout. I knew this Elon Musk was up to no good. Never trust a capitalist.
how regressive
Elon Musk breaking the narrative for some people. Love it. I for one am super happy Musk is on the Trump train to MAGA.
So Elon thinks Tillerson is good news because he is by critical parts opposite of Trump. How does that fit into your narrative?
I love the knee jerk posts in this thread who clearly didn't even read the article.
I love the knee jerk posts in this thread who clearly didn't even read the article.
There's like 3 whole posts that seem even remotely kneejerk and I'm pretty sure at least 2 of them are satirical

Trump would already have the extra EV subsidies rolling in before Elon could finish a sentence.

What makes you feel he’s competent? Tillerson also told Bloomberg last year that he’s not exactly sold on electric cars, which of course is the whole point of Tesla. Have you reached an accord on that matter? Are your opinions on Tillerson influenced at all by your position on Trump’s Strategic and Policy Forum? EM: My tweets speak for themselves. Please read them exactly as they are written. Tillerson obviously did a competent job running Exxon, one of the largest companies in the world. In that role, he was obligated to advance the cause of Exxon and did. In the Sec of State role, he is obligated to advance the cause of the US and I suspect he probably will. Also, he has publicly acknowledged for years that a carbon tax could make sense. There is no better person to push for that to become a reality than Tillerson. This is what matters far more than pipelines or opening oil reserves. The unpriced externality must be priced.
Rest of the questions in the article. [editline]25th January 2017[/editline]
You don't fix problems by insulting the people in power. You fix problems by working with them.

EM: You are missing the point. This is something we need to strive for and the more voices of reason that the President hears, the better. Simply attacking him will achieve nothing. Are you aware of a single case where Trump bowed to protests or media attacks? Better that there are open channels of communication.
:smug:
good. elon musk is doing whatever he can do best in the current circumstances
Win for Trump, Elon Musk, and everyone. See what happens when someone tries to cooperate?
Win for Trump, Elon Musk, and everyone. See what happens when someone tries to cooperate?
I disagree with Musk in this instance. There are some things I can agree with Trump on but a lot of things I don't and this is one of them.
Win for Trump, Elon Musk, and everyone. See what happens when someone tries to cooperate?
yeah but i think the point could be made against you that it'd be better if Elon didn't have to do all this and if he'd have more support from the government other than just a member of the state department
